An excellent selection and introduction to the subject
Professor Nasr's work on Islamic subjects is generally characterised not merely by its academic and still hospitable style but further by an indepth understanding and experience of spirituality as such in its most universal and applicable sense. In the book "Islamic art and Spirituality" he cover the highlight themes of traditional art, architecture, calligraphy, poetry, prose literature, esoterism, piety, etc, as it developed in Islamic lands. Of special interest is the chapter on the Persian poet Jalal al-Din Rumi. I warmly recommend the present work to students of religious studies as well as religios seekers from all traditions.

REALLY A VITAL TOPIC
REALLY, I DIDN'T READ THIS BOOK. BUT I WOULD LIKE TO READ IT CAUSE I AM MAKING A RESEARCH ON THIS CONCERN. THE TITLE ATTRACTS ME, I THINK BECAUSE IT IS A VERY IMPORTANT TOPIC AND ALSO VITAL, SPECIALLY THE WORDS OF RELIGION SUCH AS KOR'AN BEACUSE IT IS VERY DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS TO TRANLATE. THAT'S BECAUSE EVERY WORD CAN BEAR MORE THAN ONE MEANING SO THAT LEADS TO THE DIFFICULTY TO TRANSLATE AND THE PROBLEM OF NONEQUIVALENCE.

Crucial for day-to-day managerial decision-making!

Professor Hossein Bidgoli, in his 1997 publication, Modern Information Systems for Managers, addresses a wide range of MIS topics ranging from information systems basics to an in-depth discussion of topics such as geographical information systems, group support systems, total quality management and information systems reengineering. This book is suitable for MBA level and undergraduate MIS capstone courses, as well as for professional corporate level training courses. Modern Information Systems for Managers covers a broad range of topics ranging from basic information systems and computer literacy to emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and expert systems. Major topics include: information systems basics, hardware and software concepts, database concepts, and a thorough discussion of the social and legal issues involved with the implementation and utilization of information systems. Artificial Intelligence topics include a thorough discussion of expert systems development. Through in-depth discussion and accompanying case examples, Professor Bidgoli presents the information in an easy to comprehend manner. Modern Information Systems for Managers is a must read for both IT managers and IT students. I have used this book in a classroom environment and students found it very easy to understand. This book is highly recommended for both professional and educational use.

A non-political book on sufism
I truly enjoyed reading this book. Having read another excellent book by Corbin " Alone with the Alone", I was curious to see what relation is there, if any, between Shiism and Sufis, this book answered my questions in an honest non-political way.

beautiful combination of theoretical and clinical materials
I find this book provide me with primary map for the unique issues in the treatment adventure with young population.
The order of the writings follows the natural treatment processes: initiation, working alliance, (counter)transference, resistance, and finally termination.
Especially, the Sarnoff's profound writings about 'transference' and 'the use of fantasy, dreams and play' were quite informative and insight-provoking. Because of the theoretical depth of his writing, I think I need to revisit his chapters sooner or later.
Following Sarnoff's theoretical expertise, Ruttenberg's chapter regarding interpretation provided me with the rich clinical materials. Through her honest share of her experiences, I could grab the sense of real therapeutic interactions with young clients. It is noteworthy that Ruttenberg's easy-to-read writings styles were great enjoyment for me who read English as a secondary language. I became her fan.
Prall's chapter regarding countertransference had neat summary of the unique countertransfer issues in relation to the young clientele, as well as plentiful case examples.
In retrospect, the combination of the conceptual and clinical writings seems the greatest strength of this book. You might find similar pleasure of mine from this book, and unearth values of your own from other chapters as well.

Engaging, rewarding read, but.
An engaging, rewarding read, much needed these days. Though they discussed the problems these three faiths have with each others claims to chosenness and truth, and hinted a few times at needing to widen the dialogue to include "other" non Abrahamic faiths, they did so in a way which indicates some lingering conceit and self righteousness. Hmm. Can't we rejoice in how our common spiritual yearnings find various expression in different cultures?

A fresh look at the traditions of the 3 sects of Abrahamism
This book was great...' kept my full attention. The last book I reviewed was about the same religions, but this one was so much better. It gave me a much better understanding of the common Islamic views. You get the words straight from the discussion between the 3 faiths, not just one man's research of other men. This book is very simple for any reader to enjoy. It is always great not only to see comparative religion but to see people with entirely different views on the same subjects conversing "in a beautiful manner". They are struggling to find a way to bring their views together, and the Christian commented on how very close he was to including Muhammad as a prophet of God. Their struggles just begged one uniting cry in my mind, although they didn't know it themselves: Baha'i.

EXCELLENT
This book is based on live dialogue between well-qualified spokesmen representing Judaism, Christianity and Islam, presented before audiences throughout the United States. It provides an excellent insight into each religious tradition, and left me with a greater appreciation for what the three faiths have in common. Worth reading by anyone who wants to better understand the relationships between the three Western religions that trace their beginnings to Abraham

Amazing book
This is truly an incredible book. I have read many books on many religions. Few can match this book for its ability to convey the central tenets of a faith to outsiders. This is an eloquent unapologetic statement of the central teachings of Islam. It should be read by anyone who wants to know what is happening in the world today.

Must Read . Period
Nasr offers another great book on Islam with the intellectual depth and honest, unapologetic , style that can only come from a true scholar whose only goal is the truth. Set aside all the other books you have bought in an attempt to understand Islam after 9/11, this is the only one you really need to read.

Perspective without bias
Following 9/11, the misinformation and prejudice directed at this religion have left most Americans ill-equipped to understand global events. While the neo-conservative administration hawks, Christian fundamentalists and Fox News all have reason to poison the minds of Americans and turn the tragic and despicable events of 9/11 into a clash of civilizations, this book will help us realize that our war is not with Islam, but with a group of terrorists that need to be stopped. These terrorists no more speak for Islam as the people on Fox News speak for me. This book is a must read for anyone who wishes to undertsand this religion. All others, tune in and get your propaganda straight from Fox's talking heads.
