Good Biography About the Peanut Man.
A goober is the old name for peanuts and A POCKETFUL OF GOOBERS is a biography about George Washington Carver, the scientist who made peanuts famous. To be completely honest, I didn't know much about Carver and therefore found this children's book entertaining, educational, and informative. For instance, I learned that Carver was a gifted artist as well as a scientist and that later in life he became good friends with Henry Ford. The biography is written in a simple style that elementary students will find easy to read and Carver's life is so interesting they should find the book interesting.

Review of Recreating the American Longrifle
I bought this book some 20 yrs ago and find it to be the absolute authority for those wanting to build their own longrifle. My copy is right next to my gun bench and is referred to many times during the construction of one of my rifles. If you must decide between two or more books to buy on the subject , this is the one. Inspiring and well-illustrated.
The photos in this book show what is possible in the art of model airplane building. After looking through the book you may be tempted (as I was) to throw away all your model planes because the chances are they aren't anywhere near the quality of the ones in this book. But that's what the book is for, to improve the readers skill by showing what is possible. If you build model planes, this book is very worthwhile.

A substantial treatise on how people view probabilities
I was deterred from buying this book because of its high price, but finally did so, and, after reading it, recommended to our university library that they do so too. The book has a lot of unusual insights, for example, a theory of hope, and of gamblers perceptions of luck.

A Tadao Ando Gem
Although not as rich in full-bleed, high-quality photos as other books about his works, this book captures Tadao Ando's sensitivity, through his texts that accompany each project portrayed. It has a true, "studio" feel, expressing Tadao Ando's feelings towards architectural teaching that comes across as extremely personal. The insights into his teaching methods and values come across as sincere, and it is through this text that his projects achieve even more depth upon revisiting. It's regretful that this book is out-of-print.

Great New Series!
This book is a delicious treat for fans of British police procedurals. And if you're a golfer, you're in for a bonus. Chief Inspector Byram St. George won't be chasing any killers on foot (bad leg and too much weight). His forte is sound detective work. (Think of Holmes in the body of Sebastion Cabot.) And before the crime is solved, golf fans are taken for a divot-by-divot tour of the courses at St. Andrews that will have them clutching the volume with an over-lapping grip. I highly recommend this book.

A Favorite!
A favorite to check-out at the library and to give as a gift. This book is wonderfully illustrated and the text opens the door for a history lesson. I still get goose-bumps when I read it aloud to a child!
