A MOST ENJOYABLE SERIES!
To truly enjoy One White Rose, One Pink Rose and One Red Rose you should first have read "FOR THE ROSES". It sets the stage and introduces you to the personalities, desires and dreams of the three men involved, then, as you read each individual book you understand how and why each of these characters falls in love with these incredible women.

I am so looking forward to reading the final episode in this series called "COME THE SPRING" to catch up on everything and everyone. THANK YOU JULIE GARWOOD.

I expected no less from Julie Garwood. I love her books.
Julie's books always thrill me when I read them. She has a way of making everyone come alive. They become my friends and family. I always want to know what happens to the other characters. In this particular saga, I got answers. I did look forward to the movie. When I watched it though, I was disappointed. It was nothing like the book, except a couple of thoughts and the names. They killed off important characters and introduced others that didn't exist. No, I think Julie deserves to have her book portrayed literally. She, after all, wrote it. It was good enough to be a best seller the way it was! Keep going Julie Garwood. I look forward to all your books.

Great follow-up after For the Roses
For the Roses was my favorite Julie Garwood book. It was fun to read these to find out what happened to the other brothers. Great!

Fun to read, but not Julie Garwood's Best
I usually really enjoy reading Julie Garwood's books. Even her lesser works are enjoyable to read, as she depicts her characters so well that you really want to know what happens to them. The Lion's Lady started out well with the heroine, Christina, getting adopted by the Dakota Indians. Her real mother had escaped an abusive husband, the king of some unnamed tiny European nation. The mother leaves behind a journal for her daughter, explaining the mystery of her evil father's ways - which the reader gets snippets of with each chapter. Christina's adoptive mother, Merry, had agreed to raise Christina after her real mother saved the life of Merry and her son. Merry has every intention of returning Christina to her "people" when she is older.

The story then jumps ahead to England, where Christina has just been introduced to "polite society." She meets Lyon, the Marquis of Lyonwood and is immediately attracted to him. She learns from her grandfather's attorneys that she will lose control of her inheritance to her evil father if she hasn't married by her next birthday. Her nasty Aunt Patricia wants the money, so she devises a scheme to get Christina married off to someone she can control, someone who will sign over a huge chunk of the inheritance to the aunt just to be able to have the "prize" of Christina. Christina decides to take matters into her own hands and proposes to Lyon. The main plot deals with whether or not they will marry.

Unfortunately,I felt the story took off in too many different directions, leaving many loops in the story and getting "facts" as established by the author mixed up. It was so hard to follow along - lots of bits and pieces didn't add up. I was also disappointed that despite all the buildup of a return to America and the Indian family Christina left behind, we never see them again. This was still a fun book to read, but by the end I knew I wasn't going to keep my copy. Julie Garwood has written many outstanding romance novels - this just was not her best.

very funny...another Garwood great
The story is about a girl named Christina, who was raised by the Native Americans. Her mother died when she was 2 while trying to escape from her evil husband. She kept a diary and Christina would read it when she got older.

Lyon is a jaded man whose dead wife had cheated on him with his brother. He is enchanted with Christina and her strange way of thinking.

They meet when Christina is forced to go to England with her aunt. All along Christina avoids telling him about her past for fear of putting Lyon in danger because her grandfather left her a whole bunch of money and both her real father and her aunt wants it.

I thought that the way she started most chapters with an entry from Christina's mother's diary was very nice. There were lots of witty conversations between Christina and Lyon, although I did find it a little annoying that Christina waited so long to tell Lyon about her past. And I love the ending! I think it was her best ending out of all the books I've read.

BEAUTIFUL WORK BY JULIE GARWOOD !!!!!!!!!!!!
I love the way that Julie portrayed Christina and Lyon. I've read it over and over again. Every time I read it ,I can't put it down till I read it all . Every book I've read by her my heart leaps with every page !!! Whoever hasn't read this needs to . I know you'll love this book!!!!!

Have Mercy on My Romantic Soul!
When I say "have mercy on my romantic soul" I mean it. Julie Garwood has gone back to her trademark of strong heroine, dashing hero, great dialogue and comic moments that made her such a popular historical romance writer. This book flows with the interaction between characters. Even though this is supposed to be a suspense thriller, to me it was more of a romantic suspense story.

Theo Buchanan, brother to the popular Nick from Garwood's novel, Heartbreaker gets his own story. What a story it is! Theo is at a snazzy event in New Orleans, about to give a speech when he is struck down with an appendicitis attack. A young woman rushes to his aid when she promptly gets thrown up on over her new dress and a black eye when Theo thinks she is trying to rob him of his gun and wallet. To his shock he later finds out the young woman is Dr. Michelle "Mike" Renard, a brilliant young surgeon from a small town in the swamps who manages to save his life. Theo is suffering from burnt out and decides to visit the small town Michelle is in the process of setting up a new clinic. His pretense is he wants to check out the fishing but he really wants to check out Michelle.

Meanwhile the suspense surrounds four friends who have been committing white-collar crimes several years. The leader, John, manages to convince the others to help him carry out a "mercy" killing on his poor wife who has supposedly been ill for several years. What the others don't realize is John wants the wife out of the way so he can inherit her money. Well, needless to say, John isn't as smart as he thinks when he finds out his wife has changed her will, left him nothing, and sent some information to Michelle that John and the others don't want made public.

I liked this book. It was funny, had wonderful characters, snappy dialogue, and a great cast of secondary characters. I would have given this book a five except for the fact that the suspense takes backseat to the romantic side. This isn't necessary a bad thing since the romance is pretty darn good but it really doesn't cut it as a "suspense thriller." However, I have to say while I didn't care for Ms. Garwood's previous novel, Heartbreaker, she has definitely redeemed herself with Mercy. Let me finish with a personal request-please--give us Noah's story!

Good Follow Up
This book is a follow up to her last novel "Heartbreaker". In "Mercy" Garwood brings back Nick's brother, Theo Buchanan, who holds an esteem position with the U.S. Justice Department. He falls ill at a party, and literally falls into the arms of Dr. Michelle "Mike" Renard. It does have the feel of the Florence Nightengale syndrome. The book is fun. The characters are great. I hated to come to the end of this book. In this book they had a couple of stories going. They had conspiracy going on with a group of people that involved Dr. Mike. Theo comes to her rescue because he can't stop thinking about her. The book had suspense, romance, and drama. I hope that she continues to write about Mike's crazy brother and Theo's FBI friend in a future book.

The Sequal to Heartbreaker!
This is the second book in a series. It was great and you don't have to have read Heartbreaker to enjoy this book. This is the story of Theo Buchanan Nick's brother. Theo is a justice department attorney who is being honored in New Orleans for the work that he has done. While in the "Big Easy" he falls sick and is rushed to the hospital where Dr. Michelle Renard saves his life. Needing to get away and relax he takes Michelles father up on the suggestion to come to the Bayou for a fishing vacation and maybe he will catch the elusive Michelle. But Theo is about to uncover a ring of criminals that are determined to maintaine their secrecy even if it means they have to kill in order to do it. Michelle's medical clinic is destroyed by someone looking for evidence and Theo is there to help. Theo and Michelle's story is great and it is set in one of my favorite places on earth. A must read for any Garwood Fan!

Read in order for more effect....
Before reading Castles, I suggest to start with the Lion's Lady, then The Guardian Angel, The Gift and lastly, read Castles. The characters in all 4 books are friends/related to each other. It is more fitting if you know each character before reading the next book. If you read it in this order, I think it will bring more excitement as some questions are answered on the later book. Some secrets are also revealed beforehence.

Castle is a story of Colin, who is the younger brother of Caine (in The Guardian Angel) and a troubled Princess Alesandra, who is the ward of the Duke of Williamshire, Colin and Caine's father. Alesandra was searching for a good husband in three weeks time, to save her from marrying a ruthless General, who wanted to marry her only for the throne. I find the search very enjoyable. The list of every noble and available earls and Dukes names... and of course, the dipping of ink to cross each one off, as Colin finds each name in the list horrobly inappropriate. This is my favorite part. I find the herione funny yet unselfsih, charming and regal. Even in her frustrations and anger, mostly of Colin, she manage to remind herself "Dignity & Decorum". She is afterall a princess. Her obsession of LISTING everything in a notecard is also quite amusing. Colin is a proud yet somewhat a sensitive man. The best way to describe him is to compare him to a wild horse that needed to be tamed. Alesandra did just that with love and patience. Flannagan, the butler, is also one of my favorite character in this book. The Romance between the two is perfectly match. There are just so many interesting and funny scenes. I don't want to give it all away so you have to pick up the book to find out yourself. It is worth your time. The whole family helping each other to solve a mystery crime is also thrilling and heart warming. Although, i wished Nathan and Jade (in the Gift), Lyon and Christina (in The Lion's Lady) are mentioned more in this book, I still love it and will keep it in my collection. I have reread it more than once and still have the same reactions.

My favorite romance novel - ever!
Julie Garwood's Castles is my favorite romance novel. It's also the first Garwood romance I ever read (several years ago). What makes it shine so bright? Incredible humor, fabulous love scenes, and characters so very easy to love. All that, and a princess too!

Some readers find Garwood's heroines too stupid to live, but I never have. I do, however, find each's quirks to be lovable, and when I interviewed the author back in 1997 and she revealed their flaws are based on her own, I marveled at how she could turn personal weaknesses into delightful quirks of character.

The heroine is not only wonderful in this book, though - the hero is to-die-for. As I wrote in my Desert Isle Keeper Review at All About Romance, "While he doesn't want to marry her himself, he finds something wrong with every single bachelor he, his father, his brother, and Alesandra discuss. One has bow-legs, another gambles, and still another has a case of 'bad humours'."

This is truly a delightful and charming romance and I encourage one and all to read it. If you are like me, you'll end up with two copies - one to keep and one to lend out to friends.

Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of
This was the book that I've been waiting for ever since I read Lion's Lady, Guardian's Angel and The Gift. Without a doubt, Julie Garwood has outdone herself once again. Alesandra and Colin are such adorable characters. The scenes spun from Garwood's words leaped out from the book and surrounded me as I quickly turned the pages. If you enjoy passion, fire, and tender moments, this book, along with all Julie Garwood books, is definitely a wonderful, unregretable investment!

A True Page Turner - With Flaws
This is an exceptionally good book, with action and intrigue starting on page one! It has romance, wit, humor, and the reader is carried through an outstanding plot. Jade is one of the best heroines ever created. There are so many wonderful facets to her personality, only the genius of JG could pull it off.
I didn't give this book 5 stars because of the hero, Caine. He was promising in the beginning, but his appeal tapered off drastically as the story progressed. I've loved every one of JG's heros, arrogant though they were, but I hated how Caine would grab Jade's hand and squeeze hard enough to hurt her (and not let go for the duration of the scene), simply to prevent her from leaving the room, or to find her own chair. And I thought it a little crude when Jade's Uncle Harry said that he should have 'cut' Jade's face when she was younger because she was so beautiful. A little over the top, I think. But all in all, the actual story was fantastic. I'm glad Lyon was in it as much as he was, and I liked Nathan and Colin. The servant Sterns was a great character.

This is my all-time favorite Julie Garwood book.
Julie Garwood is my favorite author because her characters are so fresh and humorous. I just fell in love with Caine and Jade- I can't imagine anyone not liking them! The story was very entertaining and the ending was NOT predictable. It is one of those books that you can read over and over again and STILL find it refreshing. I liked the fact that it previewed Nathan's story- that's also a fabulous book, check it out- and followed up on Lyon and Christina's life. A must read.

10 star book
First think I want to say is that I CANNOT believe people are giving this books something other than a 4 or 5! I don't think they were reading the same book as me, especially the one who thinks that she is named Sara!? How do you get Sara out of Jade??? Well anyhoo...I could not put this book down. The beginning is hilarious...I was laughing so hard I had to wipe the tears that were blurring the words on the page from my eyes!(I had that problem a lot during this book!) Right from the start Julie Garwood spins a magnificent tale around Jade and Cain. The dialoge is funny and witty, the plot is VERY well thought out, I, who usually guesses who the bad "guy" is well before the mystery gets unraveled, was amazed with who it was, I mean I would have not guessed in a thousand years it was.....well, i'll let you find out for yourself.

Even though this book was great from the first page until the last, The best scene is where Cain is with Jade's uncle and her men and they all are telling Cain what their nicknames are for her, I just wish I were really in the book to see the look on his face. Oh well, All in all, you are crazy if you don't buy this book, and even crazier if you don't like it!!! In my opinion, and lots others, this is WELL beyond a 5 star book!

A change for Garwood
I have two copies of all her Julie Garwoods books, this will be the first one that I do not get a second copy of, and if I had known ahead of time I would have waited for the paperback. The writing is good, her style aparent, however, I wanted to read a romance, not a thriller. Many romance authors seem to jump ship and leave readers who adored them behind. I hope that Ms. Garwood does not plan on this in the future, as she is my favorite author. The storyline is based on a seriel killer who is stalking a single woman, Laurant. He tells her brother, a priest, what he is doing. Laurants brother calls in his FBI friend, Nick, to protect his sister. Although there is an attraction between the two, there is not enough play in the book with it to become entranced. There is also a lot of time spent on the killers thoughts, more than I wanted to know... So, needless to say, I was disappointed, however, I am anxiously waiting,(fingers crossed) for her next book.

A suspenseful and heart-stopping novel
This is the first time I can recall Julie Garwood writing a suspenseful novel ~~ and since I love reading her romance novels, I thought I'd give this a try. And I have to say, she is a talented lady! She writes beautifully and cleanly as she did with her romance novels, maybe even better.

Laurant is the target of a stalker who threatened to kill her to her brother, Tom, a priest who heard the killer "confess" during a confession. Tom gets his best friend, Nick Buchanan from the FBI on the case to protect Laurant. And this is just the beginning of a fun novel with twists and turns of a murder case going awry.

It is a quick and easy read. Like her other novels, Julie Garwood keeps the reader enthralled to the last page ~~ keeping her on her toes while she's guessing who the murderer is. If you're looking for a quick weekend read, be sure to pick this one up after locking all the doors and leaving the lights on ~~ and be sure to tell the hubby and kids to go away so you can sink into her novel without any interruptions! It is just a perfect weekend read!

HEARTBREAKER
NY Times Bestseller, Julie Garwood's romantic suspense, HEARTBREAKER is a true rollercoaster ride of thrills, action and romance. After a psychopath confesses the gruesome details of his previous murders, he reveals to Father Tom that he will sin once again and that he has already staked out his next victim. This time, however, he needs more of a challenge..."Catch me if you can."

Father Tom calls in his best friend, Agent Nick Buchanan. Nick is a member of a special elite unit that tracks down missing children. He has seen every atrocity known to man and is bordering on the edge of burnout and is ready for a much needed vacation. Nick can't refuse Tom's plea for help because the intended victim is...Tom's sister, Laurant.

Laurant Madden has made a peaceful life for herself in Holy Oaks, Iowa, but with a sadistic killer after her, she and Nick must pretend to be lovers in order to bait the trap--only the pretending becomes a sizzling love affair that grows hotter has the killer draws nearer.

Garwood brings Laurant's and Nick's world vividly alive. We care about them, understand them and want them to prevail. HEARTBREAKER is focused, gritty and yes, humorous. You laugh at the same time you get goosebumps. This book is pure Garwood which is storytelling at its finest. If you read only one book this year, make it HEARTBREAKER! YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

Lacking the Garwood Magic.
I have read and loved most of Ms. Garwood's books and this is the first that I've read that disappointed me. This is not one of her best and if it is the first Garwood romance you are reading, don't give up on her. Julie Garwood writes romance like no one can, but "Gentle Warrior" is missing all those wonderful elements we've come to love--a fiercely independent, intelligent and strong heroine, a brave, strong and loving hero, love scenes that are beautifully written and can get you all hot and bothered, and a fast-paced story that highlights the core love story wonderfully.

Elizabeth is an irritating heroine and even by the end of the book you don't feel like you know her enough. Geoffrey is too hard, too strict, too traditional, and too awkward a hero. The story is weak and the two characters lack chemistry. The love scenes make me cringe. ("Let me drink your nectar.") It's a mediocre read and does nothing to set the book apart from others in the genre. Considering Ms. Garwood's talent for romance, this book falls short. Not a must-read, even for Garwood fans.

Another great wwarrior story by Ms. Garwood!
I am a great fan of Ms. Garwood's books and this book is no exception. I am a little bothered that one of the previous reviewer 'snoopy1025' impacted the rating twice. I believe everyone is entitled to her opinion, however, the review lacked any content to describe why she thought the book was a waste of time and boring.

Never mind that... This book again is in the tradition Julie Garwood style with strong, big hero and petite heroine. I enjoyed it every bit as much as Honor's Splendor, The Bride, The Prize, and Ransom. The most interesting thing about this story is that Elizabeth and Geoffrey actually yell opening at each all through out the book. It is refreshing to see a couple who are willing to fight publically and shout if they wanted to. The hero had all these rules since he did not understanding nor experience any loving relationship from his past, while Elizabeth had an untraditional upbring by her parents and specially her grandfather.

There were lots of teasing and humor in the book which is another of Ms. Garwood's talent. Of course let's not forget the great love scenes between the two hot-blooded characters. Well, enough said about the story which I think you will all enjoy. I have read almost all of Ms. Garwood's books and the only one so far that I would not highly recommend is 'the Gift' which I wanted to strangle Sarah. Enjoy!

Garwood's USUAL style... As always, SHE DELIVERS!
I've read all of Julie Garwood's historical romance novels and I think she's awesome. She is one of my top 3 favs authors and reading Gentle Warrior reminded me of why. Her characters are always three-dimensional, well portrayed and well represented. Her plots are often complex, exciting and well executed. Her Dialogues are witty and humorous. The hero/heroine's relationship development are always full of heart warming trial and errors and yet full of love. Her twisters are hearty and even wretching at times. But the best part of all is her conclusions. They are always climatic! Her endings are always a grand relief and very satisfying. In short, Julie Garwood always delivers!

Elizabeth and Geoffrey's story here in Gentle Warrior is no exception to the above attributes. In addition to that, I agree that this book is definitely tummer fluttery (Iluvstrawberries) and have magical chemistry (Jody Austin). It is indeed sad to hear some reviewers didn't find this book as I saw it. Oh well, people are entitled to that. However, all I ask for those who haven't read it yet is to give this book a chance. Don't be discourage by the negative reviews. Who knows, you might agree with most reviewers who have enjoy this one as thoroughly I have.

Good, but not Garwood Great
Like many other reviewers on here, I've been a long time fan of Ms. Garwood. Her historical romances are fun, warm, and loving. Once you read "The Secret" or "The Bride," you don't forget the characters.

Over the past three years, Ms. Garwood has gone away from this genre, and into suspence-romance. At first, I was excited. One of my favorite authors was branching out to find a larger audience. However, I bought her first novel "Heartbreaker" and was greatly disappointed. I wasn't going to give up on her though. I bought "Mercy" and thought, this was a little better. Finally, there's "Killjoy."

"Killjoy" is really a story about the heroine's mother, Jilly. This book should have been titled "Jilly's Revenge." The time and effort spent to her was vast, compared to that of the hero in the book. John Paul, who we first met in "Mercy," was not given fair justice in this book. His military background was not explained fully. We understand what initially drove him to move back home, but we don't understand why it took that last assignment to do so. Also, it is unclear how this individual "loner" guy falls in love with someone very opposite of himself.

Overall, "Killjoy" is an okay novel. It isn't the great Ms. Garwood we've had in the past. If you are just getting into Ms. Garwood, I would recommend her earlier work first. Start with "The Secret" and skip these contemporary novels.

Killjoy is anything but...
In Julie Garwood's newest suspense filled romance novel, we find ourselves introduced to some new and interesting characters along with some old familiar ones. We start out with Avery Delaney who is an Analyst for the FBI. She is what you might call a problem solver. She was raised by her aunt Carrie and her grandmother who died when she was eleven. Her mother (I should use the term loosely), is a sociopath who abandoned her at birth. Her aunt Carrie made sure she new how to protect herself and also, more importantly, that she new the truth about her mother.

Now years later, she finds herself on a rollercoster ride trying to save her aunt from a hired killer named Monk, who we have met before in Ms. Garwood's previous book Mercy. Avery isn't alone in her frantic search. John Paul Renard joins her quest. We were introduced to him in Mercy as well. John Paul has been searching for Monk every since Monk tried to kill his sister, Michelle (aka Mike). Now he has tracked him down to a spa called Utopia in Colorado where Monk has kidnapped three women, one of whom is Avery's aunt Carrie. They are joined later by one of my favorite characters from both Heartbreaker and Mercy, Noah Clayborne. (As a side note, I really can't wait until she features him in a novel!!)

Anyway, I only gave the book four stars because it did start out a bit slow, but as always, when I finish a Julie Garwood book, I'm begging for more!

If you haven't read any of Ms. Garwood's books before, I recommend at least trying Heartbreaker and Mercy. I pretty confident you won't be heartbroken!

A Strong Novel By A Great Author!
Ms. Garwood first hooked me with her charming historical novels such as the Secret, and Saving Grace. She has since moved on to pen the Romantic Suspense and Killjoy is the third in a series that began with Heartbreaker, and then was followed by Mercy.

Killjoy is the story of Dr. Mike's (heroine in Mercy) bother John Paul. In this story the killer for hire Monk plays a large part in the story. You will remember him from Mercy as well. If you have not read the previous two books that is ok this story still manages to stand alone. This story is fast paced but it is more supsense and on the edge of your seat reading with a little romance on the side. This seems to be more of a mainstream novel then romance so fans of Ms. Garwood may be a little disappointed by this. I found that the lack of romance was not a bad thing and made the romance between John Paul and Avery more believable since they were not falling into bed right away. The story is well plotted and the character development is also well done. The secondary story and characters add to the telling of the story instead of detracting from it. All in all this is a very strong novel and worth the time it takes to read.

not her best...
The storyline of this book is only so-so and in no way measures up to her other books, such as Ransom, The Bride, and The Secret. Everything was flat out in the open so much so that there was no real desire to keep reading to find out what would happen, because you already know.

I had really thought there would be an actual killer that wanted Caroline's life, since that's what the prologue suggests. However, I was sorely disappointed. Ever since the middle of the book, it's been hinted who the evil-doer is. And doesn't that just take the fun out of everything? I think so. I gave this 4 stars instead of 3 because there were a few portions where the conversation between Caroline, Bradford, and Milford was quite entertaining and made me laugh.

Nevertheless, although it passed the time, I found my eyes closing more than once.

Thoroughly enjoyable!
I really loved this book and didn't want it to end. The dialogs between Bradford and Caroline had me chuckling out loud. I also really liked Bradford's best friend Milford. This is only my second Julie Garwood book but I'm anxious to read her others. Her book, The Bride, was also very good, but I really enjoyed the humor that was written in the dialog of Rebellious Desire. Now I need to go buy it for my collection because I had checked it out at the library! You won't be disappointed...read it!

Fantastic
This was my very first Julie Garwood book, and I was hooked!! Caroline and Bradford are a wonderful couple. If you haven't read this book you don't know what you are missing. I have all of Ms. Garwoods books and have read them many times and I enjoy them everytime I read them. They just get better each time. I am never dissapointed!!!!!!
