This was a GREAT book!
This book was really good! The back says: " Rev. Adam Bridger and his wife Dr. Rachel Tremaine, are once again at the center of an adventure not of their own making. And joining them are four total strangers who, along with Rachel, have seen visions that most mortals can only imagine. They have been called on a mission that will forever change the world-if they can survive.

This fascinating novel explores how God might attempt to draw the attention of a busy, self-absorbed, secular world in these "last days before the last days.""

I encourage you to GET THIS BOOK! Or at least read it because it`s a really incredible book.

Gansky strikes again...
As usual, Alton Gansky delivers an incredible story that will make you wish he'd write a third book in all his series.
Stanton is called upon once again to investigate a truly puzzling case that turns out to be the biggest sci-fi/supernatural thriller of his life.
When you finally realize what's going on, it'll strike you how much it makes complete sense. Maybe aliens are a little closer to home than we think?
An incredible read with an incredible twist.

vanished
I stumbled onto this book, just surfing, I thought "hey why not?" When I recieved it in the mail and started reading it, I thought what a great book! I enjoyed the thought put into the book and the story line. I highly recomend this book to everyone who enjoys a good mystery! I have recomended it to a lot of friends. Thanks!

Best of Christian Fiction!
Gansky once again astounds me with a hair-raising, on-the-edge-of-my-seat novel. He is to be commended on his writing style and his originality. This book is a must read for all fiction lovers!

David O'Neal's faith was taken to new heights
Being framed for something he didn't do,the evidence is nearly fool proof. David is faced with an ordeal most people do not have to face, and the difficult task of proving his innocence. No one believes him, only his attorney, the owner and the Lord. His love of Timmy and his girlfriend Kristen gives him the motivation to fight back. He now realizes that without his faith in God, he is going down hard. I loved the ending (...). The book overall was very written.

Outstanding sequel to Terminal Justice
Tarnished Image takes up where Terminal Justice left off. For that reason, I recommend reading the Terminal Justice first. In Tarnished Image, David is now the head of Barringston Relief. His character is further developed, and the story line is equally full of twists and action. It is top level entertainment with an uplifting message. I particularly like the way the author, Alton Gansky, ties up all the loose ends. Many writers fail to do that. The ending was highly satisfying, and left me with a good feeling for having read it and a wish that the Barringston Relief Chronicles would continue with another book. I highly recommend this as a combination of mystery, suspense, ample action, and Christian theme.

Excellent, tightly written mystery!
What an excellent, tighly written, well crafted novel! An excellent turn-pager--I couldn't put it down. Al Gansky's use of the English language was refreshing as well as well done!

Thought provoking and thoroughly entertaining
How grand that I discovered Alton Gansky! After reading Vanished I quickly ordered everything he has written. Terminal Justice was great...I found it to be full of action, with lifelike characters. It posed some moral questions that added yet another dimension to the book.

The protagonist is a minister whose wife left him for a member of the congregation. He was shattered emotionally, losing both his confidence and a measure of his faith. He was approached to work as a speechwriter and PR advisor for the world's largest charitable organization. As he begins to find meaning in his life again, and form a budding romance with another employee, he begins to suspect that the much admired head of the organization is not all he appears. He is torn between his loyalty to his new friend and benefactor, and his growing fear that the man has overstepped the laws of man and God.

The story line is well drawn. When I read the last page, I was delighted to remember that there is a sequel--Tarnished Image--which I am now devouring!

One of Gansky's Best
If you are a Gansky fan, you'll love this book. "A Treasure Deep" incorporates ideas from many of his other novels--child prodigies, long-lost secrets, villians with an attempted semblance of depth--yet maintains its own personality.

The story plunges us into a mystery. Perry Sachs, a wealthy engineer, stumbles upon a mugging in a Seattle alleyway, and finds himself the recipient of a historical secret. Soon, he is in California's Tehachapi mountains excavating for the truth. He finds resistance from the locals, in particular a feisty female mayor, and from unknown killers and kidnappers. Despite some plot contrivances, the pace gains steam as it chugs toward the end of the line.

I like many of the things Gansky attempts: humor, suspense, faith issues, and light romance. Occasionally, he distracts with contrived similes and sentences: "his neck hurt like a bad tooth" (?!), and "There was a curse, a bang, a pop, a crash, and a scream." (What? This is all I get in a climactic scene?) Some of his ideas would work better on the screen, where props and details are visible; in his books, I often find a lack of certain details that would add versimilitude to his grand concepts.

With these objections aside, I recommend "A Treasure Deep" for those seeking a quick, fun read that still has something worth saying about the the things in which we place our faith and love. The genetic and artifact ideas have been often used, but Gansky gives them his own unique touch.

A Tresure Worth Reading
Jack Cavanaugh called this latest release by Gansky, "a whitewater ride of surprise and suspense...". I would have to agree and add, his ride must have started after flood season. This 352-page turner kept me up a good part of a night I really needed to be sleeping.
His emotional roller coaster had you questioning whether Sach's discovery would change meaning of life; Christ's deity or even the resurrection. His words grip you and hold on tightly, taking you though a young autistic boy's visions; a woman's struggle against God's provision; a man's search for a cure for a debilitating disease; murder; intrigue and more than your share of heart stopping suspense.
What is the ultimate purpose of "the treasure deep"? How will it affect the world as they know it? You will chase each word as it unfolds and discover a wondrous treasure yourself just in reading.

A True Light
What a great book this is!! From start to finish this was a well written and extremely enjoyable book. The final confrontation was somewhat predictable and slightly anticlimatic. I feel that Gansky could have gone into a bit more detail with the ending, however this in no way lessened my enjoyment of the book. Very few books seem to translate well to film.
Peretti's This Present Darkness was a good book, however it would be extremely difficult to do it justice on the big screen. As I read The Prodigy I could very easily imagine seeing it on the big screen. The book is filled with well rounded characters and their actions and motivations were clearly presented. Along with Bill Myer's Blood of Heaven, Frank Peretti's The Visitation and Randall Arthur's Wisdom Hunter, I would highly recommend The Prodigy.

A Little Lumpy, but Satisfying
Let's put it this way...reading Gansky can be compared to going out to a buffet after a hard day's work. Gansky's books provide a variety of flavors--action, mystery, supernatural elements, even attempts at hinted romance--and are sure to have something for just about everyone.

In this, the fourth of Gansky's novels I've read ("A Ship Possessed" is still my favorite), the story centers around a young boy with supernatural abilities to see people's pain, emotional and physical, and to bring healing. Young Toby is a prodigy of sorts, sought after by the money-hungry and the disease-stricken. His mother is a simple, but honest woman, caught up in the flurry of activity around her son. Thomas York, a seminary student searching for truth in his relationship with God, meets up with Toby, awed by the supernatural power.

These characters have elements worth caring about, but Toby's basic invincibility and the criminals' basic stupidity (you know, the ones that always talk instead of shooting the hero) made it difficult for me to feel genuine concern for their well-being. Also, the radio-talk-show-host-turned-cult-leader was a bit of a stretch for me. That said, I think Gansky deftly handles some scenes, particularly a harrowing battle for survival in the ocean. He serves up a buffet and I closed the final pages feeling as though I'd been fed and generally satisfied. The message of seeking after a relationship with God over miracles was well-made without discounting God's power.

I read many books, particularly thrillers. Only on occasion do I get to enjoy the delectable home-made feasts of a Frank Peretti, John LeCarre, or James Lee Burke. Though this doesn't reach that level, it does make an entertaining and thought-provoking read. As long as Gansky keeps serving them up, I'll keep going through the line.

Great Book!
I have read all of Alton Gansky's books and enjoyed them all. My two favorites have been Ship Possessed and The Prodigy. Whenever I want to turn someone on to Mr. Gansky's books, I let them borrow The Prodigy. It is well written and grabs the reader from the first page. I usually read his books in 1 or 2 days because I can't put them down! I may be a little biased, as I know Al Gansky personally. I attended his church for 2 years and he officiated at my son's wedding. When my husband and I moved 2 years ago, Al presented me with a typed manuscript of The Prodigy. I was privileged to be one of the first to read this terrific book (typed pages in a 3 ring binder) and purchased myself a copy as soon as it was published. 5 stars to the book and it's author!!

I give this book "2 Thumbs Up!"
This book is both riveting and spooky. I love good mystery books and now this is one of my favorite. It's nice to find a great Christian mystery novel with a exciting story line. If you haven't read this book yet and your looking for a Christian Mystery, I definately will suggest this one. This is the kind of book that once you have started to read it, you can't set it down. I purchased this book from my Christian school book fair. Personally, I can't wait to read the next book in the series titled,"Vanished". Hope u enjoy this book as much as I did. God Bless You (John 3:16)

Don't Read This Alone
I started this book at midnight and finished it at 2:30 AM. "A Ship Possessed" is gripping and the most frightening book I have read. (more so than the Left Behind Books) So scary that all the lights came on with me when I went downstairs. The plot was great and detailed.

The first thing I did after reading the book was grab my Bible and read some more. Can't wait to read the other book. "Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world"

Awesome!!
When I heard about this book, I knew I had to read it. It has all the adventure of a secular novel of it's kind with the creepy, unexplained occurences, and a few deaths. The parallel stories of what happened in 1940's and the present day people are well done and kept my interest. Some the ideas and theories brought up were new to me and I found them intreaguing. I will definitely keep up with this author and recommend that everyone check this out!!

Controversial subject woven into great story
Marked for Mercy is a good solid mystery with compelling, likeable characters. It also treats the issue of euthanasia fairly, showing both pro and con perspectives. The author and main character are prolife, as am I, so I was happy that the prevailing thought was that euthanasia is wrong.

Since reading A Ship Possessed and Vanished by the same author, I hurriedly ordered everything Gansky has written. Normally I do not particularly care for mysteries. I have to admit, when you apply Gansky's talent to the genre, you can't lose.

The first two books of his that I read (mentioned above) were centered on religion and had a strong Christian message. Marked for Mercy was more of a mystery where the main character, a very ethical female physician, happened to be a Christian. If you're looking specifically for Christian fiction, this might not enthrall you as much as Gansky's later books, but if you like mysteries and good writing, this will do very nicely!

Dramatic telling of clash between "mercy" and principle
If you can ignore a few typos, including one on the first page, the story is surprisingly good. The volatile subject matter (euthanasia) is examined with respect and intelligence on both sides, and drama builds when the two opposing factions clash and must rethink their positions. Excellent characters, good dialog, very creative situations, entertaining, and personally challenging.

Compelling medical mystery!
Gates and Dr.Meade have a history and are entangled in a medical mystery...suicide..or euphanasia? When the mystery is untangled, the painful truth is revealed. A good read!

Not One Of His Best
Compared to The Prodigy and A Ship Possessed, this book is a bit disppointing. The suspense and the twist and turns (compared to his 2 books mentioned) isn't really there. The book was just oh-hum, okay, onto the next book. 3 Stars might be too generous.

Entertaining
In a category of highly entertaining, suspenseful fiction I think I would give this 5 stars. But if I put it up against some of the classics---well, 4 stars is enough. This is not intense, deep, life-changing fiction such as a Francine Rivers book. But it was great fun and I found myself looking forward to the end of the day when I could read a few more chapters. I think that most people would enjoy this book.

romancejunkie
I usually like romance novels but have to say this book was excellent without it. It kept me guessing until the end.
