I used this book for my single-variable integral calculus course and I must say it did an excellent job of teaching what the instructor couldn't. The problem sets are good, and if the solutions manual wasn't riddled with errors, the combination would be outstanding.

A solid account of the political turmoil surrounding the 1800 election, with vivid portraits of Jefferson, Hamilton, and Aaron Burr (J. Adams is more sketchy, a fact more evident in the post-McCullough treatment days.) There's less on broad electoral college strategizing than there might be and more on romance, as the narrative is centered around a series of love letters which might interest others more than they did me. Well-written and factual, to my knowledge, certainly worth a read by those interested in this era.

The Turning Point: Jefferson's Battle For The Presidency offers a comprehensive presentation of the dramatic, dead-heat, 1800 presidential campaign between Thomas Jefferson and his vice presidential running mate Aaron Burr. This is also the story of other key personalities involved including Margaret Bayard Smith, the daughter of a firm Federalist, who defied her family and gave her heart to Samuel Harrison Smith, a pro-Jefferson newspaper editor. Then their was Margaret's cousin, Delaware congressman James A. Bayard who held the key vote when Jefferson, after thirty-five deadlocked ballots in the House of Representatives, finally wrested victory from Aaron Burr amid threats of civil war, thereby concluding the Federalist era of aristocratic rule and opening American politics to the age of modern democracy. The Bayard-Smith love letters from the basis of this insightful, original presentation of the issues, events, and politically active personalities of an intensely fought and pivotal presidential campaign that would profoundly influence American history.

A valuable addendum to general reference. Excellently presented, as with most Readers Digest products. The ideal companion book to this is the wonderful "THE Autobiography of Jesus of Nazareth and the Missing Years" by Richard G. Patton. Readers digest shows you where the Master walked, Patton shows you exactly who left the footprints!

Worthwhile book for students of film and screenwriting.

The Confederate fighting man is the subject of these 11 very touching short stories written by the likes of F.Scott Fitzgerald and Thomas Wolfe. You don't have to be a Civil War fanatic or a Southerner to appreciate this book. You only have to love a well crafted story

This book has a fairly decent amount of photos of FLLW's glass designs, and the quality of the photos is decent also. I haven't read much of the book since I'm mainly interested in the photographs of his windows. There's not a lot of quality books out there for his stained glass (unless you want to spend $... on the Glass Art book), so this is a worthwhile introductory purchase.

This book is a really excellent choice, it teaches you the fundamentals of ADA programming which has been developed by the US Militrary.

there's a new bizzrro legend in West Virginia and his name is Frank K Thomas. While ostensibly about flying airplanes, It is This Way With Men Who Fly certainly doesn't limit itself to that subject. Frank (can I call you Frank?)is more than happy to give you his opinion of just about anything you would care to know. Though he waxes philosophical at times, Antoine De Saint-Exupery he is most definitely not. This earthy witty little book is a gleeful romp inside the life and head of one of those colorful individuals that make America truly and gloriously the weirdest country I've ever had the luck to be from.

Love it! The first 14 pages were a lot to chew but were totally necessary to set up the trilogy and build the characters. You can tell the writer put enough factual detail to give it a "real sense" despite the fact that the story is purely fiction. Utilizing end-time prophecies from the Bible, Koran and Torah to establish his own unique vision, the writer weaves a tale of primative jungle beliefs and more organized religious codes to expand and share an apocalyptic vision truly horrifying.

Thomas includes enough detail to allow readers a glimpse into his characters' minds and uses the present tense through much of the story giving a sense of immediacy to the reader. I found the writing to be excellent and very descriptive. It was hard to set down and I read it in 2 days. It WILL make you stop and think. I can't wait to read the next two. The story spans approximately 30 years beginning just before the end of society as we know it and reaching past to the salvation of human exsistence.

The Promethesus Crisis, (written around 1975) deals with a nuclear power plant melting down....and goes into detail about how this happens and its aftermath. Written some years before the 3 Mile Island Accident, this book almost seems to be an omen, warning of the dangers of nuclear power and what can happen when that "1 in a million" chance of an accident happens. A very fightening and informative book, and extremely well written.
