The successes and failures of treatment
In The Clinical Exchange, Joseph D. Lichtenberg, Frank Lachmann, Frank M. Lachmann, and James I. Fosshageand effectively collaborate to lay out ten principles of technique which guide the clinical exchange within the framework of psychoanalysis and exploratory psychotherapy. The authors illustrate these principles by case example, and explore the successes and failures of treating analyst's interventions alongside their technical guidelines. The Clinical Exchange is a seminal and significant contribution that surveys the full spectrum of technical issues arising in clinical work and an invaluable reference for students and practitioners of psychoanalytic intervention and therapies.
Daniel: A Commentary on the Book of Daniel (Hermeneia: A Critical and Historical Commentary on the Bible)
Published in Hardcover by Fortress Press (June, 1994)
Amazon base price: $50.00
Average review score:
Massive, authoritative, comprehensive
This book is massive, but justifies its size by giving a thorough and comprehensive survey of one of the strangest and most incomprehensible books of the Bible. It covers every aspect that would interest the diligent Bible scholar. Beginners will find it very tough going! Collins believes that Daniel himself had no hand in writing the book, but that it was the product of the age of the Maccabean struggle. However, he presents all the evidence and arguments fully, being fair to those of a more conservative viewpoint. What you will not find in this book is an attempt to show that Daniel was successfully predicting events in the 20th century or even further in the future.

A wonderful and vivid journal
I read this book in one setting. What a fascinating journey Sladen takes you on in this first hand account of a significant moment in history. I've been reading books on the west my entire life and I have to say this is the best single book one could read on the American Southwest. It chronicles the remarkable meeting between General O.O. Howard and the Great Apache leader Cochise. Sladen records Cochise's personality and style in great detail. He gives a vivid portrait of life in an Apache village. He presents Tom Jeffords and Howard as they really were. He describes the incredible county this drama played out in with the sensibility of a true lover of beauty and nature. Sladen's become one of my heros along with Cochise and Edward R. Sweeney who edited this book and wrote a brilliant biography of Cochise.

wonderful
This is an excellent selection of Dostoevsky's letters that show how great a writer and man he was. The compassion that developed in him and the faith in his abilities despite the terrible suffering he endured is a lesson in forebearance and inspiration to all. More than anything it shows the creative process involved which is so vital a part of being an artist: a human being interacting with the world for better or worse. Something those obsessed with all forms of literay theory should note and absorb as a tonic to get them out of their stupor.
