I love this book!!! It is clear, concise, and bursting at the seams with valid information related to energetics and healing. I have hardly been able to put it down since picking it up. Even though I work in the field of vibrational medicine, I believe this book is easily accessible to anyone, and written in a very understandable fashion. This has definitely won the spot of being the favorite in my library.

Loveman & Davies are pioneers. They establish a trail that is difficult to overlook. I know of no book in the nation that covers so much ground with such a wide array of experts. This is clearly an important book for anyone who wants to understand the Military in Latin America.

This book is simply outstanding for anybody who has an interest in how the military manages media relations or who wants a different perspective on the Vietnam War. An abridgement of Hammond's two-volume set, this book is still packed with details covering the war from start to finish, providing lessons that remain relevant for today's changing battlefield. As one who is involved in media relations for a living, there's hardly a page in the book that isn't highlighted for future reference. And as one who has read several books on Vietnam, covering everything from tactical operations to strategic objectives, this book put the war in perspective for me as no other book has. However, as I was pouring over every page and sharing what I learned with those around me, one of my colleagues said he had read it as well and found it one of the most laborious books he had ever opened. So perhaps it is not for everybody, but it's a book I will return to again and again as I continue to study the unique relationship forged between the military and the media. And I am also ordering the two-volume set so I can find the even greater detail that was left out of this book.

I was very distressed at the implications and conclusions drawn at many places in this book.

Parts of the book are directly contradicted by accounts of participants such as Allison Ind or by Walter D. Edmonds, who conducted interviews thirty years closer to the event.

Unfortunately at certain points, Bartsch denigrates or ignores important sources of information and the reader is unable to tell that he has done this.

I am concerned that students and the public are reading this book and accepting it as absolute truth.

This book really touched me and it answered a lot of question running in my mind ever since I was a small boy. The booked mesmerized me so much that I picked up an old P-40B model in my model stacks and started making a replica of Joe Moore's No. 41 P-40B, then later named "P-40 Something". It is my mission to revisit the airfields at Clark, Iba, the Bataan fields, Lahug, and the rest. When I was reading this work of art by Bartsch, I can feel as if I was there to witness it on hand because of my familiarity with the places mentioned.

For those that study the early months of America's entry into WWII, the disaster at Clark field resonates like Pearl Harbor. The story of the fighter pilots based in the Philippines is one of bravery and honor, but against a relentless enemy, their doom was sealed.

Bartsch has written an excellent history covering the not so popular topics of disaster and defeat. However, it is the individual human story that shines through the flames and smoke that choked America in the early days of 1942.

This book put together any of the best thinkers in the field of Agricultural Extension nowadays. It gives a broad view of the recent changes in the scientific discipline and the organizations of Extension in different parts of the world. The book deals with new and interesting topics: sustainability, agricultural knowledge and information systems (AKIS), the role of NGOs, the evolution of public organizations, etc. Specially, I recommend to the reader the chapters by William H. Rivera and Frederick Buttel. In my opinion, only a question is missing in this book: The situation of theory and practice in Agricultural Extension in Latin America countries. A chapter on this topic would be necessary to totally shift the content of the book with the word "worldwide" in the title.

The CIA's Air America became famous for its feats in Southeast Asia. This is the story of how Air America began, as a private-venture airline in China headed by Claire Chennault of the Flying Tigers. Leary tells the story of how CAT morphed into a para-military force, supporting Chiang Kai-shek's Nationalist troops in their losing battle with the Communists, and eventually retreating with them to Taiwan. There it began to take on odd jobs for the U.S. military, and eventually the CIA bought a piece of it, so that CAT pilots were one day flying supplies to U.S. forces in Korea, again providing the same service for French troops in Vietnam, and between times dropping spies into China. It's a great yarn, though told with professorial precision. A reprint (no changes) of an earlier book from a university press.

An intersting account highlighting US military and Soviet Arctic studies, with interludes briefly covering CIA propietary airlines and the development of the Fulton/Skyhook retrieval system. Points out why both countries considered the Arctic important for study for military purposes during the height of the Cold War. Well written, with firsthand accounts from the people involved in a dramatic plan to parachute personnel near a just-evacuated Soviet ice station to reveal its secrets, then recover them with the first operational use of the Fulton recovery system, also known as Skyhook. (Seen in movies such as Thunderball and The Green Berets.)Highly recommended for anyone interested in Arctic studies or covert operations during the Cold War.
