The characters are all very well definded, Book is fast moving and will keep your interest untill the very end, (hard to put down).

This novel which takes place in present day and flashes back to Chicago's Jazz Age of the 20's ties these two frames to a present day murder that some how relates to the past. You'll love Fleming's flare for Chicago's architecture and history. Her discriptive verbage draws you in. A must read.

Two views of what damage infidelity within marriages can do.

For readers who relish the complexities of two people making a life together, the dialogues ring true & the situations are both delicately funny & seriously telling.

Anyone who has been espoused will know of what this author writes, & will find some interesting information to take back to their marriage.

I found the pain in this book very real. Two sides of the same story. I found it interesting to see how Carolina and David handled their emotions and their lives. However, I take exception to the other reader reviewer who gave it one star after admitting not reading the first and only skimming the second novella. Is that fair to an author?

Anne Taylor Fleming tells two different stories dealing with relationship between husband and wife. The first novella, "A Married Woman," features Caroline. She's a devoted wife and mother sitting by her husband's hospital bed day after day where he lays in a coma.

She is forced to remember how wonderful their marriage started out and how in love they were. But she's also forced to take good, hard look at what their relationship developed into and must deal with the emotional turmoil that his infidelities with a younger woman left her with. Caroline must face the reality of the ups and downs of the life spent together and with the reality of spending the rest of her life without him.

The second novella, "A Married Man," showcases the life of David a loving husband, father and successful businessman who is dealing with the betrayal of his wife, Marcia. His life is turned upside down emotionally due to his wife's one night romp through the sheets with another man.

Marcia doesn't try to hide it from him and claims it was just a one time thing she never meant to do. Now she wants to try and mend their battered relationship by going to counseling.

Much of the story takes place in a marriage counselor's office where David's mind wanders throughout the sessions to better times. Times when they were happy and loving towards each other.

He begins to doubt they will ever be able to get that back and doesn't know if he'll ever be able to forgive and forget. He must decide if what they had is worth a second try.

After reading Herny Raddick's excellent review of the book; I found a copy on the floor beside the stool in the mens room and began reading it. What I don't understand is why the person who dropped the copy on the floor did not review it (or was that you, Henry?)

This is an excellent and outstanding book. It begins, logically, at the beginning and has a mid-portion which is also outstanding. But, true to Flemings well-known penchant for flair, ends with a an outstanding end. What flair!

Memories of the loss of one's virinity reverberate for a lifetime, and this book celebrates that special rites-of-passage experience. Written with genuine verve it put me in mind of my own initiation, a precociously skilled and attentive 14 year old, at the hands of my governess. Yet it's not always so picturesque, warns Fleming, referring to the example of British computer-programmer "Justin", whose knowledge of sex prior to losing his virginity was solely garnered from pornography. His experience was less an act of love than a grotesque re-enactment which his baffled partner could not have foreseen.

I'm a genealogist, and since recently uncovering a lineage that takes me back into Tudor and Stewart times in several rural English counties, I've been reading about and hunting up photos of small English towns and villages. It's hard to find views that don't include motorways, television towers, and supermarkets, but this splendid book brims over with gorgeous, glossy color photos of many varieties of the "classic" English village. Even better, the text identifies what you're looking at in considerable detail, gives a capsule history, and explains the differences between traditions and cultures in (say) Somerset, Norfolk, and Yorkshire -- which is important for us Yanks, even those of us who are well read in history. For instance, I've heard the term "black and white architecture," but really didn't have a mental picture of what it referred to. A lively piece of work.

You won't want to put it down! A great follow-up to Fleming's Jazz Age Murders. I love her characters - so colorful, especially Jan, the alcoholic, neurotic, and Amanda the controlling sister of the suspected Robby Saxony. Set in the small town of Glen Ayre, the "factory" holds many secrets that are discovered by the detailed and probing Glenda, the sleuth in all Fleming's mysteries.

The prior anonymous review seems suspiciously harsh. I would highly recommend to aspiring writers - or any reader who enjoys mystery novels. Fleming's style is flowing and fun. Read it!

What a wonderful read! I could not put the book down. I loved to see the return of her character Glenda. This book reminds me of many Agatha Christy books I read. Ms. Fleming's characters all have such distinct personalities.

It's nice to read a book that doesn't have an obvious ending. I was kept in suspense until the very end!!

It is so nice to read a book with such fluid style. I've previously read "The Jazz Age Murders" and her short story collection "One Impulsive Black Rose". Like her previous works, I find her characters well rounded and very reminiscent of such greats as, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Dashiell Hammett. I highly recommend this book it is a wonderful, quick read.

Reading this was like reading two different books. One was a retrospective of the women's movement from the '50s to the '90s. It didn't capture my interest, and in fact I sped through several chapters only half paying attention. The other, and far more compelling book within a book, was Ms. Fleming's late-in-life quest to become a mother. I felt her anguish with each failed procedure and rooted her on even though I knew the outcome. I wish she had stuck to that instead of more or less blaming feminism for her delayed maternal instincts. All in all, a good read, but not great for that reason.

I was really excited to see a mystery by Byron scholar, Anne Fleming. Unfortunately, the stiff characters and slow story line make the pages turn like lead, leaving the reader to trudge through the insipid plot to the bitter end. What one is left with is a smattering of superficial information regarding the life of Byron, and a feeling of time wasted. I respect the intentions of Ms. Fleming, but found that she just didn't have the fictional facilities required to make it work.
