Fascinating reading. Enlightening.
This is a readable, interesting account of the events that led to the expulsion of the Jews from Spain. Although listed in the juvenile literature section, it is a mature and fascinating text.
insightful, clearly organized
This book accurately portrays the other 1492, not the discovery of America, but the persecution of the Jewish people of Spain. Finkelstein intellegently lays out the facts of the historical events of the time in a way which both young readers and adults can comprehend. The book was mentioned in the New York Times book review several years ago and is a must read for any history buff.

A great introduction to American Jewish History
This is book is an excellent book for anyone interested in receiving an in-depth introduction to American Jewish History. Finkelstein utilizes his anecdotes in a fashion that allows the reader to understand the significance of major events in the lives of average American Jews. The book illustrates American Jewish life from the good through the bad.
An excellent read for anyone wanting to know about key, unknown events.

Great Classroom Aid
I used this in my junior high school class on Social Studies, and the kids were all impressed on how two very different ethnic groups worked together during a difficult but important chapter of American social history. I recommend this to all teachers!

An Excellent Selection
The book, Remember Not to Forget, recounts the horror of the Holocaust in words children can understand. This story begins when a German man is visiting Jerusalem, Israel, for the feast of Passover. He enters a souvenir store, looking for something to buy in remembrance of his trip. The man decides to buy a Jewish candelabra. As the shopkeeper reaches to hand him the candelabra, the man notices a set of number tattooed on the shopkeeper's arm - numbers from a concentration camp. The story continues with the history of anti-Semitism and the story of the Holocaust. It ends with a description of the Yad Vashem, a national institution in Israel established to study and research the Holocaust. I highly recommend this book to both children and adults seeking information on the holocaust.

a desire for more
as a 30 minute read you'll get an overview of one of the most impressive leaders of the 20th century but you'll be left wanting to know more. the writing style feels heavily edited and the book leaves you with more questions than it answers. in fact for an overview you'd be better off watching gregory peck in the movie of macarthur. if you're a high school student and you need a quick read then this might be useful, but if you want to understand what drove mac arthur, why he did what he did, and get under the skin of this man - look elsewhere.
