We all know that the way to learn an art or a skill is to apprentice to a master, and this is truest of all in the case of the ultimate art - the art of becoming fully human, becoming what Jesus and St. Paul called "perfect", "completed". However, though it's easy to find a fine surgeon or an expert carpenter, it's not so easy to locate a reliable teacher in the realm of the spirit. The field is full of frauds since so few of us are equipped to judge true quality. And instruction in this art is usually private and secret, for good and sufficient reasons. The fate of those who go public can be unhappy.
Here is the autobiographical record of a young British pop musician who went east on a spiritual journey. So far not unusual. He found a capable teacher who was not a fraud and was willling to talk: less usual. And he took notes! He took copious notes, and put the record of his experiential learning into a book, and this book is available on the internet.
Only in these strange times, when, as Jesus said, there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed, and nothing whispered in a private room that will not be shouted from the rooftops, could such a thing be possible.
Thank goodness that Reshad went looking, that Bulent was willing to teach, that Reshad took notes, and that Lindisfarne Press has brought the book out again. It contains instructions for learning to live, a skill most of us are still beginners at.

However, non Muslims, should be very careful while reading this book of mistaking it with Islamic beliefs. For example, according to Islamic beliefs, prophet Jesus (may peace be upon him) was not crucified but rather he was raised to heaven. One should not be dealing with this book as an Islamic book at all, but I'd rather classify it as new age and spirituality.
The book also touches on some Eastern religions & Sufi ideas like unity with the divine: "there were two butterflies and when they meet one of them died," but never elaborated on it!

In Here To Heal, Mr. Feild breaks down some of his specific spiritual practices that existed as elements in the earlier story line. He explains, in depth, the "7 breath" which he was taught as a form of practicing concious awareness during his friends death. He talks about not healing someone with out their "permission". He talks about the importance of keeping the home prepared for "The Guest" and he talks about a type of earth healing ritual (geomancy).
In his earth healing practice he performs a healing ritual for the earth by inserting large copper and iron rods - similar to accupunture needles, in various places where the earths energy has been left unbalanced. An example is when he descibes takeing his students to a location that has a "bad" feeling in the air. One student says she can smell blood and seemen. The air temperature is described as colder in this one area. After he inserts the rods in the right places, birds beging to flock to a nearby tree. The temperature warms. Life has been restored. Later they hear that a murder had taken place somewhere near the spot the found.
Here To Heal serves more as a manual on the healing styles of Mr. Feild than an easily read story. If you were drawn to his journey and would like to know more about his practises, this book is for you.
