Love and Logic for Toddlers
This cassette seems mostly to reiterate the strategies in the Parenting with Love and Logic book. It gave minimum strategies and often made fun of common parenting mistakes. This cassette could be quite insulting if you have a difficult toddler.

Doesn't work for everyone
Evaluate your child's personality before buying this. I have heard that it works like a charm for other kids, but my daughter is just too active and direct intervention works better than time-outs. I do like its main message--don't let your kids walk all over you and don't be afraid to discipline (positively, not spanking). If you feel your child will respond to time-outs, this is a good resource. However, I found the Positive Discipline series to be more effective for my child.

Great common-sense approach to child-rearing.
This audio cassette is a wonderful, no-nonsense approach to child-rearing. The narrators have soothing, pleasant voices and know what they are talking about. There is no better way to deal with children than this way: I have 2 children that strike awe in others because of how well-behaved they are (ages 3 years and 16 months). I also have a 14 year old step-daughter who is wonderful and mindful, and who has been raised the "love and logic" way. The only way you are going to be "insulted" by this audio cassette (as another reviewer implied) is if you recognize yourself in the anecdotes and are defensive about it. If this is so, perhaps some therapy of your own will help you learn why you waste energy being defensive of parenting practices that don't work, instead of being open enough to try common-sense stategies that will help you be the best parent you can be.

This is how I feel a bout books like this:
I haven't read this book but every book like this is the same! They give you "tips" on how to get along with your teen. Like reading these books behind your kids back is gonna make them feel like being your friend. The reason some of us are rowdy and wild and whatever is cause thats the only way to get through to you guys sometimes. You sit there and totally disrespect our opinions and steriotype us, tell us you would be happy lving under those conditions. Were not 3 any more and we have lives other then listening to you, these books don't help and will nver help unless written by a teen. Thankyou.

Life Changing!
I feel so blessed to have met Jim Fay, Charles Fay and Foster Cline in person and attend their seminars. However, this CD changed my life. We dont even have teenagers yet - but I could apply this to my toddlers, friendships and collegues. Vonny Kleveland (teacher and parent)

An excellent, funny, calming tool for parenting teenagers.
I discovered Hormones and Wheels through a friend and found the information and suggestions very helpful. Jim Fay presents the material in a humerous way that allows you to identify with common parenting-of-teenager problems while also adapting the suggestions to everyday life. I listen to the tapes in the car and it renews my beliefs that I will live through my 15 and 16 year old sons. Home has become a much more entertaining place to live since reading this book and listening to the tapes.

Not a book for you if you want attached children
I hated how the authors condemned babies who are attached to their parents. They seem to think that it is abnormal for babies to prefer the company of their parents to that of strangers.
I do like that they don't condone spanking or crying it out.

A total waste if you have the original first book in series
I was very disappointed after reading this book and felt obligated to write a negative review since there are alreay so many other great reviews out here. I first read the borrowed book "Parenting with love and logic, teaching children responsibilities" by Jim Fay and Foster Cline, which was first published in 1990 and now is in 10th edition. I loved that book, therefore I searched in Amazon.com, wanting to buy one for myself. I then came across this one. Since I have two kids under the age of 2, I thought this book might be more suitable on offering techniques specific for younger children, so I ordered one.
After finishing the entire book, I felt I wasted my money. It failed my expectation totally. Why?
1. This book offers nothing new, with much less content compared to its 'parent' book, the one I mentioned by Jim and Foster.
2. It's poorly designed and laid out in content. If you select any three pages from the entire book and read them, you will find the content of each page exactly talks about the same thing. Basically, you will find the author repeating the same words again and again, not necessarily for the purpose of emphasizing. It's simply very boring and repetitive. I would say that the intention of such repetition was for increasing its word count, but that would be too mean.
3. Don't be fooled, Jim Fay is NOT the first author, his son Charles is.
4. This is another typical money making driven scheme to profit off the successful original -- After making a great one, having a bunch of not so good, or even [bad] ones following in the same series.
5. If you still want to choose from "Love and Logic" series, get the original one I mentioned earlier. That's all you need ,and I personally don't think you need to buy any other one in this series.

Healthy attachment IS the point
I completely disagree with the reviewer who asserted that the authors of the early childhood book were condemning the parent-child bond. To the contrary, that relationship is key to the successful implementation of love & logic. What the authors do assert is that it is not the parents job to solve their childrens problems, rather, they act as consultants and guides, providing opportunities for children to make safe mistakes and good choices, and letting their children bear the burden of their consequences while keeping the loving relationship intact.

A disappointing buy
I found this book poorly organised, and hard to read. It consists of a series of "feel good" anecdotes about how the author's techniques could supposedly assist ADHD children. I got the impression that some of the material was simply rehashed from other publications and in fact, the same text is repeated in several places throughout the book. There is no discussion of any medical or psychological detail that would help parents assess their child's situation. I would keep looking if you are trying to educate yourself further on this tricky subject.

Incredible book!
I really don't know how anybody who could rate this item with anything other than 5 stars. The book is for all parents and anyone who works with kids. The principles are practical and wise and I know they work. I plan to buy all the books by these guys!

VERY DRY!
I found it difficult to listen to this tape all the way through. Most of the time you just want to say "Get real!!" I did get one or two good ideas from it although I changed their idea to fit into my family better. If you're desperate, give it a try. Maybe it will get the creative juices flowing enough to give you your own techniques for getting your kids to listen and DO what you ask.

Taking out Trash and a whole lot more
This audiotape brings to light many tips for handling division of responsibilities to the family. It's format is in radio talk show format which is easy to listen to.

I gained a lot of helpful hints on how to deal with my preteen. I recommend this tape.

More of the same thing
While I am a new believer in the love and logic approach to parenting, I feel this audio tape is just a "greatest hits" of the Parenting with Love and Logic book. I need more support, not reruns of stories I've already heard. If I had it to do over, I wouldn't make this purchase.
