A great insight into a very wonderful family.
Bill and Lily have opened their wonderful lives for the reader to enjoy and respect. Many of the stories reflect the typical Alaskan family doing the exceptional things we do. But consider the span of nearly 100 years for both Bill and Lily, and what a great blend of traditional values and modern day growth and adaptation!

And the best of all... How Honest!!

Wonderful Storytelling - Superb Imagery
A moving story about a girl's desire to ride to school on the bus instead of walking every day. After Mable Jean hurt her foot walking, my heart went out to her. I found myself hoping that Mable Jean could convince someone to help the black kids get a bus. The pictures in the book are so true to life. You can even see the tears in Mable Jean's eyes. I have read this story to many 1-3 grade students and they get very involved in Mable Jean's experience. Even though the story takes place in the 40's, we are able to feel the victory over one of the struggles of the Civil Rights Movement. This story left me with a feeling of satisfaction. I'll be looking for other books written by this author.

Not Christmas without this story
When she was in the third grade my older sister bought a little book of christmas stories with the nickles she had saved by not having milk at break time. "Christmas Every Day" is our favorite story from this carefully preserved little book. Our mother still reads "Christmas Every Day" every year for her grandchildren. Though we are all grown we still enjoy the story too. Even my oldest sister's hyper-active 7 year old sit's quietly for his grandma's reading of "Christmas Every Day."

It was a great relief for me to find that Amazon.com had "Christmas Every Day" because the little book my sister brought home in the early 1960's is quickly becoming too fragile to handle. Thanks Amazon.com, someday I hope to read "Christmas Every Day" to my grandchildren.

"A Heartfelt Toast For The Ones We Love"
A truly remarkable book! Once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. Original, creative, heartfelt and sincere toasts. "Crisp Toasts" is the answer for "those of us" who don't know exactly what to say and when to say it. It gives you direct guidance on helping you find the "perfect" toast for the "perfect" couple. Sincere and meaningful examples are given, some serious and others funny, and insight as to which one is appropriate depending on the situation. I have recommended it to many friends and relatives. What a wonderful reference book to keep throughout the years.

A good essay about declining moral values in public schools
This book is a good intellectual review of the insidious changes in moral values being engineered by certain New Age type thinkers who have gotten control of our educational system resulting in lower academic standards and greater social engineering. An interesting essay.

Northern New Mexico lovers¿
This is the book to buy if you've ever floated through the Rio Grande Gorge near Taos and, as you passed beneath the John Dunn Bridge, someone on your trip asked, "who exactly was John Dunn?" As a river guide you have full authority (and some would argue a professional obligation) to make up whatever answer you like, but I've found it helpful to occasionally sprinkle facts among the many assertions I've made to trusting passengers over the years. This slim volume, only 163 pages, is full of wonderful information about the life of John Dunn for whom that bridge is named, as well as northern New Mexico from the late 1800's through 1953, the year Mr. Dunn died. By reading this book you will be well prepared for passengers' questions and, as a bonus, you'll glimpse a lifestyle that predates most of us. For me the few early photos of the Rio Grande, all from pre-boating years, and the building of the John Dunn Bridge are alone worth the price of the book. The regional history and the life of John Dunn are exquisite bonuses.

John Dunn apparently was an irascible and only sporadically honest fellow, the sort of individual whose life story is fun to read about. His is not an exception. You'll learn about his early years in Texas, his later life in New Mexico, and the various legal and not-so-legal enterprises in which he was engaged throughout. I don't think I would have liked being around John Dunn, but I did enjoy reading about his adventures. I suspect you will too.
