Great Read
I really enjoyed the storylines in each strip as well as the fun drawings Evans put in alongside the strips. I am on my way to ordering another Luann book.

I loved this book
I really loved this book, I usually hate reading, but once I started reading this book, I just couldn't put it down. I really can compare myself to Luann because Evans makes her so realistic!

Look into the teen mind
I think this Luann book was so much fun to read. Sometimes it could be like a soap opera, and other times it had me rolling in laughter. It's an honest, down-to-earth comic series. I know you'll enjoy it if you love Luann.

It's funny how much we can learn.....
from reading a person's diary. No matter what the problem, in retrospect, one always seems to realize that "life is a dog" but he/she can get over it. This book, yet another of Greg Evans' earlier works, shows us the Luann we've come to love: one who confides in her Diary when troubles bog her, one that longs for the day when Aaron Hill will finally know she exists, and one that loves her family but wonders if her brother hadn't been raised by wolves and then adopted. The reader basically takes a look at Luann's world through her eyes. It's nice to look back on the earlier strips of a comic's career and see how much they've grown as artists and storytellers. This book is a must read for any Luann fan. Who knows, you might finally find that someone's diary makes for a better soap opera than your own.

I think there's a recurring theme in here somewhere.....
Who hasn't, at one time or another, wished that homework vanished and all we had to do was shop, eat and sleep? This is yet another Greg Evans book that takes a look at the troubles of teen life. Luann has typical teen troubles: she's in love with Aaron Hill, he doesn't know she exists, Tiffany (her arch nemesis who thinks herself the "Beauty Queen" seems to have more success and to top it all off, teachers STILL have the nerve to assign homework! Sure, these troubles may seem less than marginal and the world won't stop turning because of them, but then again we aren't all living in a teenage world. It's great when we can see that in this, a look into the '80s teen life, things haven't changed much (except for the drug, sex, and drop-out problems) but then again they aren't exactly the same. If you enjoy Greg Evans' books now, you'll certainly like this classic "Luann" book.

When all you had to worry about was homework...
At first glance, one might think that Luann is yet another look at the "been there done that" life of adolescents, but it is so much more. This book showcases some of Greg Evans' earliest work. The strip wasn't what it is now in terms of drawing quality, but many of the witty quips and serious undertones that make the strip stand out among other strips can be found. It is not only for the "angst ridden" of today's youth, it's also a sort of handbook for any parent who is going through the troubles of raising a pubescent teen. It offers insight into the minds of today's youth (or the '80s youth since that's when the comics in this book were drawn). Whichever category you may fall under, the strip is sure to make you laugh and agree that some problems can be troublesome and hilarious at the same time.

Adorable!
"Meet Luann" is such a cute little book! A must for fans of this comic strip, and for those, like me, who did not get a chance to read this comic strip when it first came out. I recommend.

A ugly duckling suddenly turned into a sexy swan princess
Back in the old days, Luann used to be a grubby little kid who's always tripping over her own feet at a junior high school. She would moan and whine about the lack of a boyfriend, her zits, her weight, her looks, and her annoying baboon-like older brother to her best friend, who herself was once a nerd with big owlish eyeglasses and blahy hair. And then through more than a decade of really zany adolescent adventures with shopping sprees, makeovers, sleepovers, drug-busting, cheerleading tryouts, catfights with Tiffany the Miss Perfect, dating the school geek, losing swimsuit bras in a public pool, and nearly losing a friend to cancer, we gradually grew to truly sympathize with the poor self-conscious little "born loser" feverishly struggling and clawing her way through puberty, school, and self-image. Then - all of a sudden, Luann blooms into a very pretty, busty 16-year-old blonde bombshell with a very nice figure and a rather overzealous self-confidence. Now that she's finally in high school, she at last has a job, a real boyfriend, and...about to get a driver's license so she can get around more freely. Therefore - maybe it's time to RETIRE the strip altogether now that Luann is nearly a Miss Perfect herself. At least her overweight, less-than-ideal bro is still his funny old Oreo-chomping self after all. Nice simple cartoony drawings that most teens can relate to.

good
Luann's in high school. She's got a brother she tolerates, and a friend she hangs with. There's a popular guy in school she pines for, who barely knows she exists. She gets along with her parents. She can't stand Tiffany, the classmate who exudes plastic popularity and destroys the air with her hair spray.

Sometimes it's a one-strip zinger, and sometimes it's a running storyline, like a trip to Vegas or a double date. It's insightful, it's funny, it's true to life. Not quite up there (in terms of artwork and depth of character) with the classics but definitely worth your time.

Luann needs fans!
Luann has been around for the amount of years that her now age is! the 16 year old is by far the greatest comic to be made, okay actualy peanuts is, but that's hard to top! we need fans to buy luann so creator, greg evans can release more editions and allow us to see her grow up from 1985 to now. if you havent purchased luann: the plunge please do, and if u have please purchase "passion, outrage, betrayal!"

A Commercial Rip-Off
I bought this book because Luanne is one of my favorite comic strips. However, this is little more than a commercialized rip-off of the strip. It occupied me for only three minutes because it's so short. In addition, what's here tends to focus on the cynical instead of the up-beat. NOT Recommended.

A GREAT GIFT BOOK!
I love this book so much that I have bought it for many of my friends too. It's such a cute book where the jokes are immediate and very humorous. It's a great book to have on you coffee table to give you a laugh when you need one.

Great tool for parents who have forgotten those teens years!
This is a great short but sweet book. I like it better, I think, than some of the collection books, however, I wish there were more rules. All those I know who have the book are tickled by the rules Luann has made. She is definitely "with it" more than she thinks. Greg has so much insight to teens today it's a little scary. I wonder if he's really as old as he says he is...? Can't wait for the next book! From Guess Who!

Get with the times
As a young, college-educated Christian, I saw this book (and the movement of PK for that matter) as a last-ditch attempt to preserve patriarchal ideals popularized in the 40s/50s.

In one chapter, Dr. Tony Evans claims that the "sissification" of men in America is to blame for ALL of our problems. About these "feminized males," he writes, "Somehow, many men got the idea that the definition of manhood has to do with how many women they have conquered and the number of children they have sired." I think Dr. Evans needs to reevaluate his definition of feminine, because those attributes sound distinctly unfemale. Or does he really think that females are overtly licentious?

There are a number of purportedly "true" stories relayed in the book which in no way could possibly be true. These "promise" keepers can't even keep a promise about honesty and tell genuine stories with less zing.

All in all this book seems to be just another painful example of someone trying to make a buck off of Christianity. It happens every day, on TV, at the bookstore, and in church.

** I gave the book 2 stars because it is entertaining.

Excellent Book
This is an awesome book. If the men in my country (the United States) would take to heart the principles in this book, a whole lot of unhappiness and misery would be eliminated.

An excellent beginning for starting a Christian men's group
I found this American book being used in an Australian church and brought it back to England. It works here too! Covering key issues that men need to get hold of it formed the basis for the start of men's ministry in our church. Some "Transatlantic adaptation" was necessary particularly in areas dealing with racial disharmony, but apart from this it "made the journey" very well.
