I am an angel & spirit communicator, and the angels recommended that I read this book shortly after I began communicating with them. It contains powerful insights about our lives here on earth, and answers questions related to karma, death and immortality, love and relationships, and the course of human history. If you do not believe in angels, you may just change your mind after reading this book. A must-read for anyone on a spiritual path ( and even those who aren't!). Open your heart to the angels!

I believe in God, but I always wondered what He was doing when a child is beaten to death, or whether he took a coffee break when the Holocaust happened. Ariel's explanation of what we perceive as evil gave me peace, and a great sense of safety. I don't mean physical safety, because now I understand that it's not the point, but spiritual safety.

Thank you Ariel for sharing so much love and compassion with the readers of this book. Ariel is a being we call "angel" and she speaks to all of us on topics such as religion, history, reincarnation, karma, the universe and, of course, love. This book was a fascinating, quick read and I plan to keep it and refer to it on a regular basis.

Wonderful, moving, complex, compassionate. There are several astute reader comments already written in reviews for this book on this site so I will just add one thing. In addition to being an astonishingly well-crafted portrait of Nazi society, of individual dreams and disappointments under a cruel dictatorship, I believe that Eldred-Grigg has written Kaput! as a mirror for the reader to examine his or her own life--somewhere in this vast novel, if we are honest, we can all find someone like ourselves--and to realize that each choice we make, each of our relationships, provides us with the opportunity to affect the lives of those around us in either positive or negative ways. So often readers hold books at arms' length; it is easy to pass judgment on others, whether on characters in a book, or on our neighbors. Few books combine brilliant story-telling with profound moral value. Kaput! is one such book.

The book starts slowly with the daily life of Aryan women in Berlin on the verge of World War Two. We meet the 'nice' young wife Betty, her outrageous mother Klara, her dedicated Nazi neighbor Frau Grau, and a whole host of other varied characters. Afterwards we follow all these new friends and enemies through the War. You start to dread the day when the Allies will begin dropping bombs on your new friends. The day comes, and soon your friends start to be crippled, murdered ... by the good guys, the Allies! The themes and characters of the novel are timeless. The book deals with love, trust, power. We encounter generosity and selfishness, kindness and cruelty, desperation and passion. You need to be patient with the book, though. Think of it as a longterm investment for your mind and your heart. No one is murdered or falls madly in love on the first page, and it takes quite a few chapters for the action to pick up. But pick up it does, and accelerates into a ravagingly powerful novel from there.

This novel is the greatest read I've come across for years. It's tough, it's gritty, it's intelligent like very few works of fiction - but it's full of warmth and gentle irony.

It's a story about women. But it's not just a typical 'woman's book.' It's about war and death and babies and fighting to stay alive and dancing to the sound of swing in wartime Berlin.

Nobody has ever told this story till now! I've always been fascinated by the question of what it was like to be an ordinary kind of woman who had the bad luck to live inside the 'Evil Empire' of Nazi Germany. And the bad luck to live under the bombs dropped by us Allies. Lots of books have come my way telling me about what it was like to be a heroic resistance fighter, or a persecuted Jew, under the German Reich. I've never till now read a book about living, feeling, confused civilian women - women like you and me - who're too busy trying to put food on the table and cope with the bombs to be able to be heroic. Maybe theirs is the real heroism.

A group of great characters - bossy snobbish mother, wisecracking sister-in-law, cute kid, lots and lots of characters, all centered on the wonderfully deftly portrayed Betty. Betty's a young mother, and she's the heart of the story.

Beautifully written, without being smartly arty. You can tell that each word has been carefully chosen, but you don't have to slow down to admire the artistry. You just want to keep reading, because you care - you care about the characters, you care about their lives, and you come to care about the whole big rowdy city of Berlin.

A big book, too - and you don't find a lot of really 'big' books these days. It's the sort of book you lose yourself in for days or weeks, coming to know all the characters. And it's a shock to emerge from reading the pages and realise you're empathising with the people your parents or grandparents were told to hate and fear during the Second World War.

A beautiful, readable work that has heaps to say to anyone interested in women and war.

Few people know of this excellent book. Over the past 14 years I have searched for materials that could help Christians receive and work with the person of the Holy Spirit of God. There are a few really excellent references. I have found this one the best, easiest to understand and respond to.

I will start by saying that I have known the author for many years. Steve simply took the questions that he had with regard to the Holy Ghost and went to the source for the answers. If someone were to ask you why... with regard to the Holy Spirit, you don't need to say anything. Just give them a copy of this book.

For anyone wanting to know more about the role of the Holy Spirit in a Christians life. It is a well thought out approach meant to inform and answer most questions anyone may have regarding the Holy Spirit and His ministry. It clears up several commonly held mis-understandings about the Holy Spirit's gifts to the church.

It make me feel good that on a Busy morning I can drop a "love" note in my child lunch box. All I do is add "love Mom" or add a line. My kids bring them back home so I can reuse them. They love to see if they get it again. Before I got the book, I was having a hard time thinking up things to write about. These notes are great. There are very colorfully, and have Great saying on them. You will have a hard time picking out which one to send with child ever day because they are all so good.

Wonderful little tear-out notes with special sayings to place in your kids lunchboxes! I enjoy letting my children know that we (Mom & Dad) are thinking about them, that they are special, and we appreciate their efforts on accomplishing set goals. My children love getting these special notes, my ten year old son even saved his and put them on his bulletin board!! It means a lot more to your children than you will ever know! Hope Ms. Stevens will put out another book with more notes.

I teach New Testament to university undergraduates. This is the best textbook for New Testament, and probably the best textbook for ANY course, that I have ever used. The book itself is short, so that the student has time to read the Bible itself, not just the textbook. It approaches the New Testament from a scholarly, non-doctrinal, non-denominational perspective. It is an introduction to academic, as distinct from a church-oriented, study of the Bible, something surprisingly few students are even aware is possible. The exercises and underlining suggestions the author makes invite the student to learn about being a scholar by actually practicing Biblical scholarship for him/herself. The writing style is remarkably clear and easy to follow. I give this book my highest recommendation.

If you are interested in reading the New Testament critically and you need a place to start, this is a good book for you. This is especially true if you're a tinkerer, and you really like finding things out for yourself.

I recommend anyone who reads this book to have a copy of a Bible handy in order to do the exercises. There are reading, writing, and underlining excercises throughout the book that I found very worthwhile to do. One can learn a lot simply by sifting out the Signs Gospel (from John), Q in Matthew and/or Luke, and other text fragments.

This book takes a non-doctrinal, hands-on approach. Davies does not analyze the text for you, but gives background historical and cultural information, indicates textual parallels, presents well-designed charts and timelines, and suggests ways for you to analyze it yourself.

If you get the joke this is one of the funniest books of the year. With its sarcasm barely concealed beneath its boiler plate self-help-speak, Romancing Your Wind blows a breathe of fresh air into the altogether too serious self-help industry. If you don't get the joke, buy the book anyway, you're going to need it.

This book had me rolling on the floor and clutching my sides in humor. Too boot, the pictures are amazing. Never have I seen text and photography so beautifully intertwined. The publication is the work of angels..

Albert Ellis, the third author of this book, is well known for his atheism and attacks on religion even to me, a school teacher. He's notorious. Leaders of my church have used him as an example of the dangers for religious believers in the secular world of psychology! What a surprise to see his name on a book about counseling religious people! It is clear that Nielsen and Johnson have had a mellowing effect on Ellis (though he apparently maintains his atheistic views). Their book provides a clear description of this therapy and a well thought through explanation for why it will work and how to use it with religious people. The book is, evidently, intended for counselors, and I'm only an interested observer, but it gave me confidence that religious people like me can find an approach that will respect my beliefs and not feed me a bunch of psychobabble and mumbojumbo. I found myself thinking that this could work. Most heartening about the book was finding that these psychologists took an honest look at religious principles and were even willing to look at scripture to help their religious clients get better.

Based on a true story, Candy Stevens' Eight O'clock Blues is an adroitly written novel, set in the 1970s, and centers on Sophia, a young, religious, middle-class woman who takes a job at an automotive giant and has her illusions of corporate benevolence shattered. Daring to challenge the authority of an entity governed by greed, Sophia becomes embroiled in a test of wills that threatens to crush her. Eight O'clock Blues is a gripping, involving saga of a white-collar worker pitted agains devious and endemic corporate mismangement.

Prof. Stevan Davies was one of the first scholars to take the Gospel of Thomas seriously as a first century text. An acknowledged expert in his field, he is fascinated by early Christianity, has few preconceptions as to its earliest form, and is always willing to try out new ideas.

This book contains a solid translation of the Gospel of Thomas, a good introduction, plus a new age preface by Andrew Harvey. The great strength of the book is the saying by saying commentary. Davies does not try to give a unified interpretation of the Gospel of Thomas, but to "offer suggestions, share observations, and participate in a reader's seeking..." Prof Davies has a way of wheedling out the system of thought that lurks beneath the text, and he looks at the sayings as clearly as he can, disregarding religious or scholarly commonplaces. This is one of the three or four best books on the Gospel of Thomas.
