Very silly! Very fun!
A silly parody of The Night Before Christmas for the young at heart. I especially recommend this book to all bovine enthusiasts. Santa Claus..........Mo-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-ve over!

Great Silly Book!
I'm 19 with two kids of my own and have had this book since I was little! I loved it then & my kids love it now! My oldest daughter loves it so much she makes daddy read it EVERY NIGHT before bed!! It's a fun & silly twist on a classic!

Santa Cows
If you want to read an excellent Christmas Book, the book Santa Cows is the book for you. This amazing book was created by an wonderful author Cooper Edens. It is an exciting and adventurous picture book. I strongly suggest you read it.

The setting in this story is on Christmas Eve. The children were watching television and eating crackers chips etc. Outside there is a noise and you might have guessed it, it wasd the Santa Cows. The cows come through the chimney with a surprise. After the surprise is discovered the cows go outside with the people and play a well known sport.

I was very excited the first time I read this amazing book. I enjoyed it very much. I really think you should read it. It has many wonderful features, features such as rhymes and similies. The sound of Twas The Night Before Christmas kicks it up a knoch. It really has beautiful illustrations. I strongly encourage you to read this fantastic book.

A modern family's eviction on Christmas eve
I was really disappointed with this book. If you are a Carl fan, you will not like this book. The illustrations do not bring the family or their plight to life. Some of their belongings, i.e. a commercial popcorn machine, didn't quite fit in the scheme. It would make a nice Christmas gift book for a child. Perhaps the story would have been better suited to the late 1800's or early 1900's.

A delightful, magical book
I don't have any children nor grandchildren in this age group. I have not read any of the "Carl" books for which Alexandra Day is evidently noted. I saw the cover drawing with a goat toting a Christmas tree & was intrigued. Looking through the book brought smiles & a desire to own this book. At home I found the pictures drew me back again & again. The wild collection of possessions & the large number of pets made me feel right at home. I enjoyed this book so much I went back to get more copies for friends but the book store was sold out. Thus, here I am at amazon.com finding the book I was seeking all over the state. As you can tell, this book is one of my favorites & if I were still a preschool teacher my students would be enjoying it right along with me.

The Christmas we moved to the barn
Delightful tale of twelve animals and three humans moving house on Christmas Eve. A warm-hearted fantasy world where all the animals do their share. It gives a hopeful message that even in hard circumstances, working together to a good plan the family can survive. The enchanting pictures remind me of The Tompten and other Scandinavian picture books. The magic things (such as Pinnochio) move with the creatures as well as the practical (the dryer!) A real Christmas classic, about hope and sharing, reminding us that the first Christmas was spent in the barn.

FIRST RATE ILLUSTRATIONS
Darby is a lovable, high spirited English Bull. He arrives by crate, special delivery to an unnamed family. The equally unnamed brother and sister try to train their anvil headed English Bull, (these dogs have anvil shaped heads) whose favorite activity appears to be chewing their cushions, photos and furniture. They make some success with their spirited dog and Darby learns to tinkle outside, bark, sit and stay on command. He just can't master that chewing problem, though.

Furious with the destructive behavior of the dog, the childrens' father insists that Darby be kept penned in his own fenced corner of the yard.

In an amazing, implausible series of events, the family home plunges into water, is immersed below (how did they all breathe) and Darby rescues them. Although the story left something to be desired, I loved the illustrations and was captivated by the English Bull. The illustrations alone were worth 5 stars.

Lisa Kopper introduced the world at large to Daisy, an English bull who imitates her owner's child and teaches her puppies as well as her owner's child how to get up to some serious mischief). This book will delight dog lovers, particularly those who love an anvil headed English bull.

Good Bull Terrier Book
I don't think much of the family's training methods in the book, since Bull Terriers should always be crate trained. However, the story is good, the art is up to Alexandra Day's usual marvellous standard, and Darby is a true BT, with all the loveable characteristics of the breed. My 4 year old son truely loved this book.

Looking to find meaning in Life?
The book talks about meaning of life by expanding what the searhcer (a.k.a Solomon) has been written in the book of Ecclesiastes. It is quite interesting on how he manage to explain what the topics in the book, verse by verse continually. It's a good book if you want to understand about life. Solutions were given and you would understand it if and only if you believe in the existence of God.

Too scary for children
I bought this version of the popular fairy tale as a gift for my niece. After I received it, I was horrified to read in detail about how the huntsman cut open the wolf's stomach to look for the grandmother. It then goes on to read, ". . . after a few more slashes a little girl jumped out.." This was not at all what I had envisioned as a gift for a young girl. I wish I had been warned to buy the story from a different author.

little red riding hood
this book was very scary and ummmm... i-i didn't like it, it scared me!

Another graet classic
The illustrations in this book are very similar to those of Jan Brett but darker tones used. There is always something hidden w/in the pictures for children to look for and the illustrations help enhance the tale.

I also recommend Lon Po Po.

Not my favorite or my sons
This is about the 12th classic children's story that I have read to my pre-schooler this year. It has been his least favorite to date. I agree that the writing is excellent, how many writers could capture the true esscence of a dream? But it was not the best story for a 4-year old. He just never really got into it. Some of the chapters were better than others and I will try reading it to him again when he gets older, but for now I'll give it a 3* rating.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
Children familiar only with the classic illustrations by John Tenniel will be introduced to a wide variety of artistic interpretations of Lewis Carroll's immortal "Alice in Wonderland", compiled by Cooper Edens. This unabridged edition brings together the works of over thirty illustrators from the late 19th to early 20th centuries. The book is aesthetically balanced with both black and white and color pictures. It is interesting to see how each artist has visualized Alice and the rest of the eccentric characters. Some, such as A. E. Jackson's and Margaret Tarrant's, I found right on target, while others, like A.A. Nash's Shirley Templesque Alice, I found off the mark. But this is simply a personal opinion. My favorite interpreter though is still Arthur Rackham, whose art is featured prominently. All in all a very satisfying purchase.

An illustration book- not a music book
This book's title is misleading. This is not a songbook- it's a collection of beautiful illustrations. As in their related publication of "The night before Christmas" the producers have selected absolutely gorgeous Christmas illustrations. If you enjoy these, then the book may provide you with much pleasure.

If you are interested in music- as the title here suggests, you are sure to be sadly disappointed. Included are the texts to many Christmas songs, both old and new. Unlike lots of other "Christmas treasury" collections of songs, you'll probably recognize most or all of these. There are texts from the old classics and plenty of new ones too-like "Jingle Bell Rock", or "All I want for Christmas".

You will need to recognize all the songs too, since they choose to include only 4-8 MEASURES of melody in most cases! How could anybody call a book with single-note score settings of fragments of songs a "songbook"? I found that scanning through this book made me very angry. Since I own and love their edition of "The night before Christmas", I would have planned to buy this one sight-unseen. I'm glad I didn't- this book has no target audience, it's a pure profit generator. They would have done better to simply call it a collection of classic illustrations and perhaps choose song quotes as a means of organizing the illustrations by theme.
