Unconditional Love, Deep Wisdom
This boook is profound in that the author's voice exemplifies the universal values and principles espoused in his book--clearly he has lived his words. Sri Easwaran's familiarity with world religious traditions, his compassionate nature, and his love for all living beings make his words nonsecular and completely applicable to anyone's life. I felt I was embraced by love as I read this book. It inspired me to rededicate myself to living the higher values of humankind.

A Wonderful Book of Surpassing Wisdom
This is simply one of the finest and most inspiring books I've ever read. It takes the famous Beatitudes of Jesus' "Sermon on the Mount" and shows how we can train ourselves mentally and spiritually to be living embodiments of their wisdom in our everyday lives. Easwaran begins with the premise that our innermost core or essence is one with the divine ground of all being. It is timeless, indestructible, and purely good. And he shows us how we can cultivate a spiritual path which lets this goodness shine through our conventional, constricted, egoic selves. His path is based on the "perennial philosophy" that he and many religious scholars and sages say forms the heart of all the great religious traditions. But while he quotes liberally from mystics of various traditions, his focus here is on Christian mysticism. Meister Eckhart and St. Teresa of Avila figure prominently in the book, and their words grace the reader with profound wisdom and inspiration. The chapter on love alone is worth many times the price of the book. It has impacted my life more than I can say.

Do yourself a favor and get this book, make it a part of your life, and share the sweet fruits of your efforts with those around you. Thw world will be a better place because of it.

The Many Faces of the Sacred
Many religious traditions adore the many names of God. In Vaishnava Hinduism, Vishnu is honored with hundreds of names. In this book, Easwaran explores over a hundred of these names with simple reflections. For each one, he gives the Sanskrit name and its translation, and then he writes a short piece about seeing that aspect of the sacred in everyday life. As is typical in Hinduism, there is a dizzying variety of names here, from BHUTA-KRIT ("The Support of All Creatures") to KESHAVA ("He Who Has Beautiful Hair"). Vishnu is LAKSHMI ("Good Fortune") as well as BHAGA-HA ("Destroyer of Good Fortune"). Easwaran's reflections are helpful in appreciating the presence of the Sacred throughout the full spectrum of experiences in everyday life. This book is a magical tour of the archetypal manifestations of the Sacred.

A fine book to help you stay in tune...
This book is one of a handful I keep on my nightstand. It's designed so that you can read an entry each day. Each day's entry presents a quote from one of several religious or philosophical traditions, and presents Easwaran's thoughts on that quote. It's a pleasant way to expose yourself to traditions you might not otherwise learn about, and also helps you to keep in daily touch with your spiritual goals. Easwaran's interpretations are insightful and down to earth.

An excellent book of thoughful guidance.
This is a very wonderful book for those in search of a more spiritual and grounded lifestyle. It's dailyentries encourage serious thought, support positive life changes, and reinforce your efforts. I would highly recommend it to young and old alike. It's a great gift for the right person.

Wonderful
Well, timeless classics no doubt. But the secret is in the translation. I've seen a few translations of the gita, this is by far one of the best. So I decided to trust Eknath Easwaran and get the full set of all 3 books, and it turned out to be a very good choice! It is wonderful reading, and highly recommended.

This should be required reading for everyone
This is one of those books that hit the nail right on the head for me. It integrates meditation, personal responsibility, and ecology into a message that I think our world desperately needs. It's an easy read with no esoteric Buddhist philosophy that in the past has made me bleed at the ears. Rather, it's practical, heart-felt, warm, and inviting. It's helped me to move from simple acceptance to real compassion. If every American read this book the world would be a much happier place.

An escape from Freudian desires
Conquest of Mind is a beautifully poetic book, but also very meaningful and helpful. Like Freud, Eknath shows how our lives are ruled by desires and impulses. Unlike Freud, however, Eknath offers us hope, and a method, for escaping from them. His simple method for retraining the mind through meditation and thought control works for anybody, no matter what your religion is. I highly recommend this book to anybody looking to better your life. His methods of thought control can lead to increased concentration and focus, or even to transcendental living. Eknath's writing style will keep you capitvated, and when used properly, his methods will take you to a more fufilling life.

An inspirationally engaging book
Eastern mystic and meditation expert Eknath Easwaran's The Constant Companion is a deeply spiritual, 375-page treatise about the universal nature of the Lord. Drawing heavily upon Hindu tradition, The Constant Companion looks upon the Lord as The Lawgiver, the Tree of Life, the Destroyer of Evil, the Maker of Reality, and many other names in its vignette-style meditations on God and the Universe. A thoughtful, insightful and inspirationally engaging book, The Constant Companion is enhanced for the western reader with a Guide To Sanskrit Pronunciation and a Glossary.

I can't part with this book. It's like a 'bible' to me.
This is one of two books, that I sat and read cover to cover, in one stretch. This is the book that all who have personal grudges, anger or hatred towards their fellow men, should read. I know, I have experienced the change. This book allowed me to be calm, forgiving, and compassionate. At times of dispair, I re-read this book and find peace within myself. This book teaches you the way of life, the way to peace. I would highly recommend this book, especially at times, when you think this world is unjust, unfair. I wish the whole world reads this book and make every effort to transform themselves; then there will be peace through the entire universe. Please, please read this book.

A fascinating tale!
In Quest of God is the compelling tale of Swami Ramdas, a monk on an extraordinary spiritual journey throughout India. This book tells the remarkable story of how a penniless monk gave up all worldly possessions and placed complete faith in God. Readers of all walks of life will admire Ramdas' complete surrender to God and his lighthearted look at the world.

Traveling throughout India armed with nothing, Ramdas accepted no money but instead chose to live free from the restrictions money places on us. His magnificent tale includes a trek up the snow-covered Himalayas and trips to some of India's most awe-inspiring temples. This book not only provides a fascinating story of a man on a journey, but also gives detailed descriptions of some of India's most treasured places.

Told with a sparkling sense of humor, In Quest of God will make you laugh while showing you that life truly is how you look at it. By placing all his trust in God, Swami Ramdas shows us that life can be a series of surprises and joys where around every corner God gives you something to smile at.
