Running Wild
The reason I like this book is it is about football. The second is that the book is and football is my favorit sport. The third is sum people like football becouse it make you tough.

The worst part of the book is when they was at a game and one of the player got hurtand couldn't play in the game.

I think the auther did good on the character and the theme. The character was good becase they was good football player. The theme mostly took place in a football field.

Running Wild
I recommend this book for ages 12 to 14 because it shows how one boy changes his whole live and how he goes about doing it. He overcomes his drug usage and drinking habits by choosing either "to spend the night in jail or join the football team". Pete does choose the football team which starts to change his whole live. " Good job Pete for joining the team and not using drugs or drinking ". This shows that you can do anything that you want to do. Pete in the end changes his whole live, and has success in football and goes on to college. This is a good book and I hope you get a chance to read it and find out the whole story.

Nate's Review of Running Wild
The Book Running Wild starts off with its main character, Pete Holman, getting into trouble with the cops for getting into a car crash. This was not an ordinary visit to the police station though. The officer had cut him a deal, which the same thing happend to him as a kid, in which Pete could go home early, instead of waiting for his mom to get off work, if he were to go out for football. This started a whole new way of life for Pete. At first he didn't know if he would last the first practice but he thought that all of the jocks would say oh Pete isn't tough he couldn't last one football practice. Pete started to like football and he then came into a conflict. Pete found himself having to choose from his old friends and his new friends. When Pete began to become a star running back he found himself hanging around with his fellow teammates. Pete found himself hanging out with a better crowd and making a better relationship with his mother. Pete liked how things were going and in the end found himself making a truths with and old enemy.

A Good Book
There has been a big change at Blumesfield High School. A coach named Deke got the job of basketball coach at Blumesfield High School. Deke went to Illinois State University for 4 years and could have gone pro but he didn't because he wanted to coach high school basketball. Deke has asked a lot of questions about his life and how he was going to coach the team but the biggest question they asked was if Bobby was going to play. Bobby is a short redhead that is really good at basketball. Bobby is the best player that the bulldogs have aver had. Bobby is really good but he has a bad attitude and that why the team doesn't like him. Bobby is not a very good kid but with Dekes help he might be able to change.

The outside shooter is an all around good book. Thomas J. Dygard is really good at writing sports books. I would give this book 3 1\2 stars because I thought it was written well. If you like action books like me, then you will like this book.

outside shooter review
THE OUTSIDE SHOOTER IS A GOOD BOOK I LIKE IT BECAUSE OF THE DESCRIPTION OF THE BASKETBALL GAMES AND BECAUSE OF THE TWIST IN THE MIDDLE. IF IT DID NOT HAVE THESE THINGS IT WOULD NOT BE A GOOD BOOK. THE BOOK IS ABOUT A HOT HEAD GETTING SUSPENDED BEFORE A CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. I GAVE THE BOOK A FOUR. I LIKED THE BOOK YOU SHOULD READ IT.

He shoots!!!!! He SCORES!!!!!!!!!
There has been a big change at Blumesfield High School. Deke Warden has just taken the job of head basketball coach for the Blumesfield High Bulldogs. After four years at Illinois State University, Deke, has turned down the NBA to pursue his dream of being a high school basketball coach. In the five-week period before the Bulldog's first practice, Deke has been questioned about his life, coaching strategies and the Bulldog's best shooter Bobby Haggard. The 5.6ft redhead is by far the best shooter the Bulldogs have seen come threw the school. Even though Bobby has a lot of talent his attitude is what holds him and the team down. As Deke putt's it "Bobby can't find his self worth". Even thought the previous seasons have been bad for the bulldogs, with a new coach, anything can happen.

The outside shooter is an all around good book. It is a very well written and entertaining book. Thomas J. Dygard does a good job of explaining the setting, characters and plot that outline and build this story. When rating this book I would give it 4 stars for the uniqueness Thomas J. Dygard uses in his book. If you want an action pace book this is a book for you.

Just How Important is the Point Spread?
A linebacker with a brilliant college record sees his hopes for a career in professional football totter and his team's season threatened when he is implicated in a gambling scandal. This is a believable book with a sensitive subject that is timely even today. An easy to read book that should not have gone out of print.

Game Plan
I recommend this book to anyone that likes football. It is filled with friendship and excitement. For example, Marty almost broke his arm in the game and Beano would have to use Dave for quarterback. It also teaches you two lessons - always give someone another chance and always believe in yourself. Another example for friendship is between Beano and Mr. Custer. Mr. Custer taught Beano all the lessons in this novel. "I know you can coach this team Beano," Mr. Custer said. It's also amazing how in the beginning Marty hated Beano and then in the end they became great friends. Marty said this in the locker room " Your no coach Beano," in the beginning of the novel. In the end, after the game he said," We couldn't of done it with out you Beano" It's just weird that one-day you hate someone then the next, your good friends with him or her. So in conclusion, if you are into football, friendship and excitement you'll love Game Plan.

A Book Of Faith!
Hubert (Beano) Hatton is the student manager of the Barton High Tigers football team. After a victory with one game left in the season, the head coach gets in an accident and can't coach the chamionship game. The principal of the school gives Beano the coaching job. The quarterback of the team doesn't like that idea and quits. How will Beano handle the loss of the star quarterback? This is an exciting book. It isn't the best book you'll ever read, but it is pretty good. If you ever have spare time Game Plan is the book to read.

This story is awsome
The Game Plan was a good book because it goes to show that no matter how old you are, or how tall you are you can do anything you want to do if you put your mind to it.The game plan I think is a five star book because of all the details the author gives you and all the steps that the person takes to go the distance.

Football Girl
This book is about a player that you thought would never play her name is Jill Winston. She plays, not soccer, but football. Jill plays for the Panthers. When the coach saw her play basketball and saw how high she could jump and how better she was then some of the players on the team he said she was the miracle they needed. He put Jill on the team and said when the QB throws the ball to Jill and she catchs it and she gets out of bounds without getting tackle to be hurt, but the problem they had to get over was Jill going out with one of the players and how he would act. They got over that Jill's boy friend was mad at first, but he got over it in the long run. She was a top wide receiver and lead the Panthers to win the Championship. At the end Jill returned to basketball her favorite sport.

A Female Football Star
The Panthers have the best quarterback in Illinois. The only problem is they don't have a receiver to catch his bullet passes. Then one night at a basketball game, Coach Gardener finds a perfect wide receiver. The only catch is the new wide receiver is a girl. Scott (the quarterback) Jill, and Coach Gardener are all very enthusiastic about Jill playing unlike Jill's father and boyfriend, Henry (the Panther's tackle) who don't want Jill to play for two different reasons. At first Jill's father is very protective. If an opponent bumped her out of bounds, her father would be all over Coach Gardener at the end of the game. Henry didn't want Jill to play because he thought every one would make fun of him at school for having a girlfriend who plays on the football team. That all changed when the Panthers started to win every game. Forward Pass takes place in a town in Illinois. The setting doesn't really matter. The book was published in 1989, so I would say it took place from 1989 to about 1995 because (I a big sport fan so I know this) a high girl played a high school game for the first time in 1995. The author didn't really use descriptive language but he made it so you were sucked right into the book. The book is told in 3rd person and is a fairly easy book to read. I read it in three days. I would recommend it to female sport fans from ages 9-12. There was some uptightness during the game when the referees would come up to Coach Gardener and ask if number 89 was a girl. When Coach Gardener replied the "yup" the referees would warn him about the responsibility, and the consequences. The only suspense was if Jill would be able to play. My favorite part of Forward Pass was when Scott threw an interception and then Jill tackled him, saving a touchdown. "The defensive back, behind her, reached up and picked the ball out of the air. He ran past Jill with nothing but space between him and the goal line. Then Jill dived at his back. Jill slammed a shoulder into his backside at waist height, locking her arms around him. He stumbled through one more step and then began to fall, turning sideways with the weight of Jill dragging on him." I liked this part because Jill (from my point of view) was playing real football. She wasn't sissy side-stepping out of bounds. She was playing real hard core football. This part of the book is also the climax.

A well-written book about a female football player.
In Forward Pass, Panther football coach Frank Gardener doesn't have a good pass receiver. That is, until he watches Jill Winston in a basketball game and sees her natural ability to catch a pass. He asks her if she would like to play football and she accepts. She goes on to lead the team through about seven straight wins and leaves football to return to the sport she loves best, basketball.

This Indiana boy thought it was alright
Yes Tournament Upstart was a pretty good book if you ask me, but it could have been better. There were very heart warming parts in this book, but there were also parts that left me wondering what was going on. I liked the story about them off the court, but I thought the game scenes could be a little more discriptive. Now and then I thought the writer didn't know what he was talking about. There were times in some of the games were I was lost and confused (might just be me). The reason I read the book was to get some good basketball action like the state tournament around here, and I didn't get any out of this book. The games weren't described in enought detail for me (again probably just me). There were many times I felt there was something familiar about the story (anyone seen the movie Hoosiers?), the coach's motivational speeches were just a little familiar. This is what kept me from really liking the book but all in all it was alright.

Tournamen Upstart
When I first started reading this book I thought it was going to be just about basketball. The more I read the more interasting it was. It's mostly about a basketball team that's from a little town called Cedar Grove. They get a new basketball coach, and he thinks the team could play in the A bracket for the state championship. The town people taught he was crazy taking a little town team and making them play against the biggest and best schools in the state. The people said he was going to embbarras their town and their players. Their first game was going to be against the last years state champs, the trojans. The Trojans had flashy jersys and fashonable haircuts. The Cedar Grove jersys were red but they were so old they looked like they were pink. The Cedar Grove Falcons came out charging against the Trojans. It was a close game but the Falcons pulled a huge upset. The fans nor the players could beleive what had just happend. The Falcons went on to win their next game. That put them in the state final. I wont tell you what happend because you can read the book and find out if they win the game. I rated this book a four out of five because it was a great and exciting book. The only bad part about it was that it could have talked more about what happend outside of the games.

Tournament Upstart
When I first started reading Tournament Upstart I tought it was going to be a book only about basketball. The more I read the more there were other things then basketball. It talked a lot about a kid on the basketball team that was trying to fit in, but had a hard time. They Falcons (the main team in the story)are a small school team, but their new coach thinks they are better then to just play in the B bracket, like they always do. So he signs them up for the A bracket everyone in the little town was angry they thaught he was going to embarrass them. When they got to the big school where the tournament was going to be held they were stund, because all the teams had brand new jersys, the best shoes, and fashonable hair cuts. They're first game was going to be against the last years champs, the Trojans. They played great and won, no one could beleive it. They also won their next game. That ment that they were going to play in the championship game. I wont tell you if they won or not I want you to read the book and find out. The reason I rated this book a four out five is it was really exciting and kept me at the edge of my seat when I read it. The reason why it wasn't a five is sometimes it got a bit too discreptive. Other then that I thaught it was a great book and you should read it.

Just For A Report
For this book I thought it took way to long leading up to the actual game. I thought it wasn't the worst book and it is great to read for a book report. If you do read this book you should know something about football beacause that is wht the author expects. Overal this book has a low rating because of the boring ideas.

Quarterback Walk-on
This book wasn't as good as some other books I've read by Mr. Dygard, but it wasn't a bad one either. I'm sure this has happened in real life to many teams, where they lose their number one and have to go to a less than sufficient back up. The ways for the team to overcome this little setback were well thought up by Dygard. Even though the action that was being described in the book wasn't as good as in his other books, he still finds a way to make the reader see what is going on and make them feel like they are there. The character of Danny Westbrook in this book will make you believe that football is not just a game of toughness and brawn, but also is a game of thinking and relys on knowledge just as much as strength.

It was good but alittle weird towards the middle.
I thought that the book wasn't quite what I was expecting but it was good enough for me. I rated this book a 3 because I feel it could have given you more discription of the coach and what he was like, was he mean or was he nice, was he hard and nice, or was hard and mean? Those things would make the book more interesting.
