Great Book
This is a great book for people like me who are beginners of the Celtic world. The fascinating history of the Celts is outlined in this quick read. I only wish the photos in it were in color and of better quality. I loved this book from beginning to end and loved every moment of it. It does have some anti-roman and anti-british stuff in it that may cause some prejudices, so readers be aware of this.

A deep look into the forest at the lives of Mbuti Pygmies
Had to read this for an anthropology class, was really dreading the whole thing. But I found myself more and more captivated by the objective yet personal insight into the lives of possibly the most unchanged known culture still in existence. I've gained a new respect both for the diversity of human life and for anthropology. I highly recommend this book to anyone curious enough to take the time and seek the insight of a gifted story-teller. You'll find yourself longing to be right there along with the author, and feeling as though you were.
A well-written, easy to follow guide through another world
Kevin Duffy takes us to places we can only imagine in this book. He rarely skips any details as he describes his time with the Mbuti pygnies of the Congo, yet you never feel like your being hit over the head with the facts. I found myself there, experiencing with him the sights, smells, sounds of the forest, and mingling with a people I may never meet, but for whom I've developed a new-found respect. Read this book if you want to visit such a beautiful, and sometimes dangerous, land, and perhaps come to understand a group of people who have for so long remained elusive to most of the outside world. Excellent book.

A HUGE Disappointment
This book is a jumbled, disorganized, mess. And to top it off, it displays an incredible number of historical flaws, particularly in regards to the Romans. The author appears to try his hardest to denigrate the Romans at the expenses of the Celts and seems to assume that his readers haven't bothered to read Livy, Polybius, Appian, Plutarch, Caesar, or other ancient writers.
I'm not a big admirer of Caesar and the Romans; however, I believe history should be presented in an honest and objective manner. This book did neither.
In my opinion, the book was a waste. Other writers have done a much better job of presenting the world of the Celts. Save your money.

This was the first time I found History fun to read about
This was an immensely readable and enjoyable book. Had I learned about the History of the World in such a universal manner as a child, I would have gone back to the History books time and again to find out more about the times and the peoples of the world that are referred to in this book. Thank you Kevin Duffy, I consider you gave me a gift....
