cant wait to grow some turnip greens
Grow it Again is well produced and informative. The text is very inspiring and will convince children to sprout an avocado tree or plant a pineapple top. Each page is well laid out and colorful. The author carefully explains directions for the step-by-step projects in language appropriate for children in the third grade and up. The illustrations compliment the text well and add color to every page. The book also contains children's jokes about plants that serves to break up the text and lighten the mood.

Beautiful,concise,loaded with good information
Hospitality, history, helpful and practical information all packed into one verbal and visual delight. This is what one finds inside the cover of the concisely complete book about tea and how to enjoy it by Elizabeth Knight. She has managed to tuck a large amount of information into a very pleasantly readable book that should be in everyone's home even if they aren't usually a tea drinker. This is practical information that can be used by real people, not some elaborate idea that takes a staff of half a dozen to implement.

Ms. Knight's writing paints vivid pictures even without the lovely watercolor illustrations, and the party ideas can be used as guidelines for launching many a celebration or even quiet gatherings. Her genuine enthusiasm for her subject is evident throughout and rubs off on the reader. Buy two copies, you'll find yourself thinking this is also a welcome gift.

Delightful tea book
Tea with friends is a delightful fun book full of great ideas for formal and informal tea parties. Anyone who loves tea and time spent with friends will love the ideas in this book. There are ideas for every month which include decoration ideas, fun activities, and recipies. The illustrations are fresh and colorful which adds to the beauty of this book. Elizabeth uses her creative talents to spin magic around a simple idea of gathering for a cup of tea with friends.

A delightful book celebrating the pleasures of entertaining
Elizabeth Knight's book Tea With Friends is a real joy. Organized by months, she gives twelve great excuses for parties, both formal and informal. Full of ideas for decorations, music, menues, and setting the mood, she offers suggestions for entertaining with class but without hassle. A great gift for anyone who loves a party, not just for tea-totalers!

The Case of Capital Intrigue (Nancy Drew 142)

A well-written mystery!
This book was great! I really enjoyed it! It was easy to follow, and not confusing! The book kept you in suspense, and you had no idea what the ending was going to be! The basic plot was this: Nancy's friend George gets a photography job at the white house, and invites Nancy to visit her. During Nancy's first day, a gold hummingbird gets stolen, while Nancy is unconcious. Most of the main characters in the story (not including Nancy or George) have good motives for stealing the hummingbird. It's up to Nancy Drew to find the thief, but just as everything is going well, the ambassador is kidnapped...

This book is very clever, with a twist at the end! If you love mysteries, you'll love this book!

Intruiging- very interesting
I think the Case of the Capital Intruige was very interesting. In it, George has taken a job as a photographer's assistant. Nancy and Bess assist her to DC for a vacation. Little do they know, Nancy runs into a mystery. First, a sacred statue is stolen, and Nancy must face dangers to get it back. But then, the embassador is kidnapped- and in an extremely exciting mystery filled with clues, codes, and dangers, Nancy solves another page-turning mystery. I think any mystery-lover would enjoy reading this Nancy Drew mystery.

A wonderful and interesting book
Nancy Drew is going to the White House to see her friend George Fayne. George is a photographer at the White House. George is a girl. George wanted Nancy to come and stay for a little while to see her photographing. Nancy ends up having to investagate a few things. George gets sick and Nancy wants to think in George's office. Nancy hears a person right outside the door and sees a shadow. She burts out of the door without thinking and into the elevator when she feels a hand on her leg. It isn't who Nancy suspects it is at all.

A New View of Princess Elizabeth
I was glad to read a different view on Princess Elizabeth's life. This book focuses on Elizabeth's life after her father's death until she becomes queen. The young princess has to endure much such as spies all around her. The young princess knows she has slim hopes of ever being able to rein, being third in line for the succession of the throne. However Elizabeth proves everybody wrong by not only surviving her brother Edward's rule but also her evil sister Mary's rule and finally becomes queen. However the way to the throne was far from easy for Elizabeth. She had to endure the conspiraces after her dear brother's death and the execution of Lady Jane Grey, the queen of nine days, and she had to endure the stay in the Tower, locked away by Mary, who thinks she is going to try to take over the throne. Mary's spies are never far from Elizabeth and she has to live a life of danger everyday. Elizabeth knows, one day may be her last, if Mary doesn't trust her loyalty.

Caroyln Meyer succeded again in writing another great historical novel. I really like this book because it gave a different perspective into Elizabeth's life and how hard it was for her just to stay alive, and living each day with fear of execution. I highly recommend you read the companion to this book about Elizabeth's sister, Mary Tudor. The book is called "Mary, Bloody Mary.

Beware, Princess Elizabeth
Spies everywhere, potential poisoning, being sent to rot in the tower, a Queen who's sure not to put you on the throne as a sister; that's the life of Princess Elizabeth for you.

Taking place right after the death of King Henry VII Beware, Princess Elizabeth tells the tale of how Elizabeth, Princess of Wales, survived the rein of not only her brother, whom she loved dearly, but the infamous rein of her sister, Princess Mary Tudor. Told by Princess Elizabeth herself, she tells you of how she lived day to day life in the royal court and what she thinks of the dukes, earls, and princes whom King Philip II, Queen Mary's husband, tries to marry them off to her. Being as steadfast as Elizabeth is on not marrying, she refuses all proposals and lives in fear of what the King and Queen, especially the Queen, might say or do about her defiance.

Having every one she loves either dead or taken away by the order of the Queen, Elizabeth feels totally and utterly alone. How will she survive this horrible torture and still hope to become Queen of England? Find out in the wonderful book entitled Beware, Princess Elizabeth and enjoy!

My personal opinion of the book was that it was quite entertaining. I do admit that it did have some parts where it was a little long-winded but those parts were few. For the most part I gave the book 5 whole stars for its great development of the characters and making history come alive and enjoyable to read.

Enjoyable & informative
I enjoyed this book completely. It was a wonderful, quick way to learn about the young royal who would become Queen Elizabeth I. It becomes so much easier to remember her relations to other royals and what happened in her life when they appear as characters and situations in a fast-moving story. Her sister Queen Mary really comes to life, for example. The historical setting was brought to life beautifully as well - for example, the way the royals had to keep moving from one household to another because the houses would become too filthy to keep living in. It's easy for us to forget in modern times what life was like so long ago, even for a princess. It's one thing if a textbook tells you; it's another when it's part of a fiction setting. This was extremely well written. I recommend it to all.

Not the best organized
This is the grammar workbook chosen by the university for which I teach. The workbook combines exercises and explanations together.

The best advantage to this is the sections which allow the student to check his or her understanding. At the beginning of each section, about ten questions have the answers at the bottom of the page. Also, the unit review has answers printed for the student's reference.

One of the disadvantages is the organization. For instance, section 8 lists avoiding and correcting for double negatives as an objective. Unfortunately, double negatives are not covered there. In checking the index, double negatives are mentioned on page 128 in section 13. There, the reference is only a hotline query that states what a double negative is.

Another disadvantage is there are less exercises than in previous editions. The previous editions had "Proofreading Alerts," which I thought were very helpful in providing a more practical way to test comprehension.

This is a usable workbook, but it would not be my first choice.

College English
I first encountered this book as part of an online class requirement (Diablo Valley College, Business English-101). I find the book easy to read and use. It's layout is eye-catching and user-friendly. In fact, I recommend this book a buy for those needing to brush up on any college level English....
