Required reading
Frances Nunnery was a one-off. She raised cattle, drove buses, bought and sold ranches and other real estate, was a saloon-keeper and restaurant owner. She could shoot, cook, ride, fix cars and trucks, and build houses. She had two husbands, a daughter and friends of every stripe. She lived poor and well-off and she did almost everything by herself. She constantly ran into calamity and adversity and never whined or complained. This book is in her own words and it's a treat and a page-turner. She's an inspiration for just about anyone.

Great Mystery
A priceless Rembrant vanishes, a Remington sculpture becomes a deadly weapon. A musuem guest is nearly murdered. The police is baffeled. So how can Gin, the assistant director, not investigate the goings on in her museum.
Delightful read, fun, and interesting to the very end.

a mystery reader
Clay Dancers has a good mystery which I did not guess, two suspenseful chases, and an interesting ending. However, I was often confused by what was happening, when it was happening and who was involved. There were too many characters. It also seemed as if the author were trying, unsuccessfully, to imitate the book Falling Woman by Pat Murphy--a lonely, eccentric female archaeologist, on a quest, spirits from the past, people being killed. Dawkins attempted to develop some interesting characters (especially Hooper John). However, the book is billed as a mystery and as a mystery it was hard to follow.
