this couple should still be writing. the world is missing their talent.

I fell in love with David Landry about the same time the heroine did, and equally in love with the writings of Tom and Sharon Curtis. Their writing style is elegant and charming, their characters appealing, attractive and often very funny and the stories out of the ordinary. This is probably my favorite Regency romance. Its the best!

Michael Green is one of the best authors I have come to read, especially for military subjects. I have been a fan of all types of military/war books simply because politics is interesting for me. Michael Green has written a number of books on this subject all of which are considered my favorite. This book is well-written and gives clear, concise information. It also contains and array of astonishing and breath-taking photographs, liek in all of Green's books. I wish I could meet this wonderful author and congratulate him on his job well done. My wife and I both know that these books are at the top of my shelf!

I first read this novel 10 or so years ago and was blown away by it. It replaced The Flame and The Flower as my all time favorite historical romance. I stopped reading new romance novels about 5 years ago because they cost too much and were boring, but I keep copies of all my old favorites and when I need a pick me up, I pick them up! I'm on my third copy of F&F and second copy of The Windflower. First, the great descriptions of sailing and the pirate atmosphere suck you into the story. The psychological description of Merry's agony, Cat's history and the Duke's double identity are really well done and entertaining. All the side plots are meaningful and relate to the main story. Most amazingly, no explicit sex scenes and the sexual tension throughout the book is very high. I would recommend this book to everyone who loves romance novels, especially historical romance novels. In fact, I think I'll start it again tonight. Note: If you can't find this on the shelf, try used book stores, that's where I got my last copy. Enjoy

I usually only read regency romances as I find the other types to be completely boring and totally predictable. The Windflower is an exception. I first read this book about five years ago and thought it was a wonderful and exciting read. I just recently read it again and it is my favorite romance novel. The characters are so well written and the book has many facets it isn't the "typical" romance. The pirate aspect gives it an exciting and humorous flair as we see the crew begin to befriend poor bewildered Merry. I would love to read a sequel or two. My favorite characters were Cat and Raven, not the main characters. I would love to see their stories, and the pirate captain Rand Morgan. This book also doesn't portray women in the usual "I will surrender to you" fashion. Although Merry is not strong at first her behavior is as excepted from someone who lead such a sheltered life and is in the predicament she is. All in all a wonderful, exciting, adventerous, and refreshing novel.

This book is listed as one of the 100 best romance novels, and rightly so. When Merry Wilding is accidently abducted by pirates, she faces challenges that make her a engaging heroine worthy of the hero's love.
If you enjoy Woodwiss's " Shanna" , or Susan Wiggs " The Charm School" this is not to be missed.
Although the plot has been done( woman ends up on pirate ship, matures, falls in love) what makes it unique is first of all, its lyricism. The description and dialogue are poetic, poignant, and vivd. Not to mention there are some really funny moments( "You might try giving it a lump of sugar".) It also has an incredible cast of supporting characters, who you may become so attached to, you might like them more than the protagonists. The characterization is nothing short of beautiful, the characters actually develop over the course of the novel, and I thought it was great that the heroine is given time to develop away from the hero.
This is a must read for any romance reader, and the only problems I see with it are it's hard to get a hold of and it ends. I wish the Curtis' work was still in print.

Overall, this story was good. Well written. The characters were well-drawn. The problems inherent with a virtual nobody having a romance (not a fling) with a super-mega star was realistic.

We'll suspend disbelief that somebody as seemingly perfect and probably jaded as the hunky Neil Stratton could fall in forever-kind-of-love with an unsophisticated, emotional baggage carrying, rather prudish minister's daughter, Kathy Carter.

Okay, Kathy wasn't all that bad. She sounds real nice, actually, and she was gorgeous, to boot. Her near obsession with her deceased husband was believable. Her insecurities and feelings of inadequacy when faced with the full impact of Neil's background, sophistication, talent, and fortune would be natural, I should think, so no complaints from me there.

However, (you knew there was a however coming) as understanding as I am of her mixed feelings, her wishywashyness was a bit wearing. Everytime she did the "theresnowayimgoingwithyou!" song and dance or the old "AndIneverwanttoseeyouagian!" , he'd just call or send flowers or whatever and she'd just turn into a little puddle at his feet, melted by the rays of his starpower, no doubt.

Okay, that was way harsh but the bit at the end where she rushes to his concert! I like a romantic, dramatic gesture as well as the next gal, I should think, but no matter how great it would be to have a song written for you and how eager you are to kiss and make up --- this is just ridiculous! I groaned in actual near to physical pain and wondered aloud to myself "why the heck doesn't she just wait and call him after the concert?" (only I used much stronger language, of course).

Ah well, live out your groupie fantasy with this one girls. Let it Be.

sharon and tom curtis could write the ingredients on candy wrappers and make it interesting. always believable most certainly entertaining.

this is their best work. couldnot put it down. lives with you long after the last page is turned.

The C++ Pocket Reference is designed for C or Java developers who occasionally program in C++ and need a syntax reminder. Not designed as a tutorial or provide lengthy instruction on the subject, this book is great for a one paragraph explanation on a particular topic.

I found this to be a very useful and easy to follow book. It starts out with the basics of writing a C++ program (processor directives, data types) and slowly moves into more complicated aspects of this language (like templates and memory management).

I would highly recommend this as a reference book if you find yourself occasionally doing some programming in C++.

Fortunately, I did not let some of the negative reviews discourage me from reading this book. I will be a new mom in the near future and I feel that Dr. Wilkoff's book offers lots of wonderful information on breastfeeding in today's fast-paced world. I like his honest commentary on what to expect from breastfeeding and encouragement to take one day at a time.

Dr. Wilkoff does a good job of explaining how to create a nursing-friendly workplace and the tools that can help a mom continuing breastfeeding when she returns to work. What I really liked about this book, however, is that Dr. Wilkoff offers a plan for breastfeeding that is realistic in today's society.

After reading this book, I have a better understanding of breastfeeding. I know that it will take some hard work but that it will have great rewards too. Dr. Wilkoff has encouraged me to start with a three-month plan with the hope that I can continue to breastfeed even after I return to work. Thank you!

I read this book, and I didn't get from it the message that others did at all. I think that the book suggests that many women don't nurse at all because they know their employers will be unsupportive of pumping, and Dr. Wilkoff suggests that nursing for 3 months is better than none. I'm personally a round-the-clock sort of breastfeeding mom and nurse my children into toddlerhood, but I was not offended by this book. I think some of the reviewers of this book were choosing to focus only on the parts of it that they disagreed with. There's a lot of good in this book too: he condemns having formula samples in the house for new mothers as he rightly thinks it sabotages breastfeeding, he thinks nursing until babies start solids would be preferable, and he does indeed offer several suggestions for getting employers to be supportive of pumping. But he also acknowledges the sad reality that some employers will not make it feasible enough for women to nurse.

There's a lot of good in this book for women who want to breastfeed but know from the start that they won't do it long-term. I love the Sears and LLL books personally, but I'm also so strongly a believer in breastfeeding that I think 3 months of breastfeeding is better than none. If Dr. Wilkoff's book encourages some women to nurse for 3 months who otherwise wouldn't have nursed their babies at all, then I think it serves a useful function. I rated it only 4 stars though because I think the book makes nursing sound exhausting and in my experience it isn't. New motherhood is inherently exhausting whether you breastfeed or not.

I thought this book was very realistic. I don't feel as though it discouraged me from breastfeeding in the workplace but it did make me feel as though I would not be a failure if I decided not to. Yes, we all know breast is best, and it is best for the first year but it is also our CHOICE! And some breastmilk is better than no breastmilk. If you want to give breastfeeding your best possible shot and you are returning to work, I suggest this book. Don't be swayed by all of the negative reviews here, my guess is that they are mostly from women who feel as though formula is not an option.
