hello last house fans, as a close confidant of david szulkin and last house star david a hess, i must say people have to read this graphically detailed monster of written class. this 70's film student text book has inspiration.szulkin has touched the heart and soul of wes cravens masterpiece. All cult fanatics will read this book

the importance of the movie,is overshadowed by Szulkin's "under the microscope" details and facts.And those details and facts are exactly why you can not put this book down.The index alone is a treasure listing of the the greatest horror/slasher/sci-fi/camp...movies ever made. I cannot wait to see what Szulkin's next subject will be....

This book is a must for any fan of 70's horror. The genre had a feel to it in the 70's, and this book shows that feeling. Great book for any aspiring filmaker.

The perfect novelization to the last (Sure it is) Nightmare on Elm Street movie. The book itself is an interesting read and the photos are worth a look. The entire mood of the movie is caught on the pages and if you love these movies like I do, you won't be able to put it down.

Don't let the heading full you, this story is just a movie. but based on the real life characters of the orginal Nightmare series. However as exciting as The movie novelization is, The author puts a new twist on things as he put himself in the situation. With journals and all. David is haunted by the Dream master himself. So to find out what happens to The Elm street crew and David Bergentino.....Buy the book....It's only a book....isn't it?

This novelization (of probably the best film in the Elm Street series) is an incredible work of fiction. The story of a film crew who discovers that their fictional creation, Freddy, is all to real is superbly acted out. Credit should go to Wes Craven for his script, but Bergantino made great additions to this piece, such as: excerpts from a (fictional?) journal in which David begins having bad dreams; clippings of (fictional?) news articles discussing bizzare deaths; and characterization which is so believable that one cannot doubt that David talked to the actual crew of the film. The book focusses more on the psycological effects on the characters than on blood and gore. Don't get me wrong, in the scenes where gore abounds -- boy, does it abound. But in the scenes where the characters are hit with the realization that what they have acted as and with is actually real and attacking them, one cannot help but be moved. In conclusion: read the book, see the film, and have pleasant dreams.

Wes Craven describes how your mind can trick you and how you end mixing it up with reality. A great book for who likes pure horror. Also the best from all three sequences. Claudia Cox

This was a great book. I am one of the lucky ones and I have a rare hard-back copy of it. It starts out in Kristins dream when she is walking up to Freddy's house. If you can find a copy of this rare book don't hesitate to buy it. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Wow! One of the best horror series ever is now a book...Unbelievable! I am an avid fan of the Nightmare series and I had to get my hands on this book! It's just as scary as the movie and if you loved the movie...you MUST buy the book.

OK, I haven't read the book yet, but I've seen the movie at least 15 times, the sequel about the same, and the third one at least 30! But I know this much from experience - if you've seen the movie before you've read the book, chances are the book gets boring. But since I'm addicted to scary movies (especially the Scream's), I'll read it anyway, and if it's from the movie then I know it'll be good!! Anything from Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven are!!

I have to give Kevin Williamson much props on this book. Not only does he give you scenes NOT in the movie (along with his own story of how SCREAM was born), but Wes' introduction is also great as well. A MUST have for any SCREAM TRILOGY fans!!

Considering the movie is a 100 on a scale of 1 to 10, saying the book is "almost as good as the movie" is saying a lot. I love Scream and Scream 2, and am anxious for Scream 3. This book is definitely a must-have for Scream fans. It includes a forward by Kevin Williamson on how Scream was created, an introduction by Wes Craven, and scenes that really add to the plot, but aren't in the movie. It's a wonderful book to own, I recommend it to everyone.

This is designed for big, big, big fans of Wes Craven. It is a slim book whose text seems to be primarily based on magazine articles and newspaper clips. The book gives a fairly good overview of Craven's history and philosophy in a readable and serviceable style.

This is a brilliant book and particually good if your a big fan of Freddy Krueger films, like me. It tells us of Wes Cravens past and of his past and present movies.

I have been an avid fan of Wes Craven and his movies, But this book gives you more insight on his better movies, and gives you respect for his unsatisfactory movies. As well as getting inside his head and knowing what these movies really mean, After reading it you know what each movie is "really" all about. For anyone who is interested in Horror movies, or any genre of Movies, you should definately read this book.

The first three Nightmare on Elm Street films in book form. The first two are excellent and you really feel you know the characters whose backgrounds are explored nicely.

But what happened to the novelising of Part 3? It starts off well but most of it bears no resemblance to the film at all and seems just an underdeveloped mish-mash. Very disappointing.

The feeble novelising of Part 3 barely deserves one star, but the novels of the other two make this publication on not to miss. And there are some nice photos from the films.

Wes Cravens New Nightmare is like so many other movie to book adaptations a faithful transfer from the movie. The story revolves around Heather LAngenkamp (The female Heroin of the first Nightmare Flick) who is making a fairly succesful career outside of horror. She does more Day time TV and so on. The book starts off like the films, in a nightmare. From there she wakes up in the middle of an earthquake with her husband Chase and little boy Dylan. After the quake she is on edge, not just because of the quake but because she has also recieved a stalker who calls her and impersonates Freddy. Shortly there after she does a spot on some Talk show and then heads down to New Line Cinema where she is asked to play Nancy one last time in the Newest Elm Street Film that Wes Craven is currently writing the screen play for. Soon after that her world goes to hell as the spirit of Freddy is after her and her son, while plauging the stars of the first film (John Saxon, Robert Englund, Wes Craven, and probably others their just not mentioned). So she must fight Freddy one last time.

Now what makes the book unique and a definite must read for the Elm street fans is that the author every now and then puts in this mini journal bit and sometimes a newspaper article as he is writing this book. THe way these little scenes play out it's like Freddy is after him as well, thus making reading a little more intersting.

OVerall this is an OK book that probably won't win any one over, but is an entertaining read for Elm Street Fans.
