A real showpiece!
What a great book! The title "Route 66 Souvenirs" says it all. Everytime I hit Route 66, I end up buying a ton of souvenirs. I actually constructed the models in the book, and placed a bunch of them in a curio cabinet, along with several real-life souvenirs that I had bought along Route 66. Doing this was incredibly great "therapy" til I can get back on the old Mother Road again!

More than souvenirs ¿
Š Alan Rose's new book is art in itself. Somehow, the author has enhanced the innovative precision of his past paper-building books with a humorous perspective and the sense that -- like Buzz and Todd -- one's along on a colorful Route 66 adventure with an old pal. Got two copies: one for the buildings and one for the book.

Indispensible Resource
This is an indispensible resource for beginning through advanced FDC collectors. There are values listed for all Scott numbers for FDC or EKU (earliest known use) covers. For modern issues, valuations are provided for singles, blocks, plate blocks, and FDC ceremony programs. Complete coverage is also provided for back-of-the-book issues, postal stationery, plate number coils, presidential inauguration and related covers, and World War II patriotic covers. A cachet calculator helps in determining values for individual cachetmakers. Many first cachets are illustrated. My only suggestion for future editions would be to include more illustrations of cachets and fewer illustrations of stamps, which are readily available through other sources.

Amphibious Ships
As the author of this book I like to state that this is a children's book aimed at the 2nd and 3rd grade reading level. It is not a book suitable for adults. I have tried to get Amazon.com to inform the buying public of this fact to no avail.

Beaded Clothing Techniques
This little book gives the basics of adding beading to clothing. There are less than twenty pages but the informaion is well worth it. The illustrations are clear and easy to follow. It will get you started in the right direction. Once you decide beading is your passion, there are many more elaborate books to seek out.

Inpirational and Informative for all Mompreneurs & others
This is one of those books you pick up again and again from your bookshelf and use as a tool while starting and running your business. The information and advice given is top notch and really helped me when I needed guidelines for my at home business. Whether you are thinking about starting a business or already have one established Mompreneurs is a very valuable resource! I would recommend this book to men and women alike who are looking for useful and helpful guidelines in your business life. It's a very fun read to learn how others are doing it also!

Outstanding book
This book provides confidence and wisdom about starting your own home business. Everything is included: how to balance your business and home and how to make a business that is your own. I'm not a mom (in fact, I'm not even a dad!), but I do have my own home business that I enjoy greatly (and since I'm in graduate school it has to be low maintenance). If you'd like more information, please drop me a line. (ryanmcrae@aol.com)

Saw it on OPRAH!
I was just finishing my copy of this book when I saw the authors were quoted on Oprah's show on June 26. I think the authors have lots of great ideas and they obviously have first hand experience. And to see the book and writers quoted on Oprah gave more emphasis to their points. I would recommend this book to anyone who has started or is even remotely thinking about starting an at-home business.

Not the holly grial
Well, I find that this book is really easy to read, and it probably is a good book if you know little about mixing, but to someone who has some knowledge on the subject, almost everything will sound familiar (at least). Also, if you're looking for a "cookbook" go find some other book, as this one hasn't fast and hard mixing rules.

Overall, it's a good book, but after reading so many positive reviews, I was expecting something else...

Great fundamentals
This book was extremely helpful. I've been doing radio production for years but never had any formal training in mixing, processing, etc. The specifics in this book helped me in so many ways, I wish that I'd known about it long ago. There are places where it doesn't go into enough detail but, it is great for getting a grip on the basics.

I found it very useful.
When my friends decided to make a band as a joke, I decided I'd pick this up. When a few of my friends decided to each learn a musical instrument at the same time, we thought it'd be fun to get together and make some really awful music under the guise of a fake band name. Yes, we're awfully bored an awful lot. After some thought, I thought I'd learn drums and perhaps some mixing on the side. With the help of this affordable little handbook, I was able to not only play some [bad] drums, but [bad] remix it when I was done. What could be better than that! Obviously, with my incredibly low expectations, I found this book to be very good. I guess that probably doesn't help much though, huh.

Beautiful, educational and yummy!
I've had "The Basque Kitchen" in my small kitchen for a few weeks now. While it (book) fits perfectly, the recipes and ingredients have become second nature to me and my family. I've had a chance to attempt a few meals and all have turned out excellent. I actually thought of never retuning to Fringale or Pastis, but my kitchen cannot compare to the service and ambience. And my wife would be a little upset not being able to taste her favorite Basque wine from Irouleguy. Having been in the Basque area a year ago, I found myself salivating over the beautiful pictures and well written stories. They have brought back the incredible memories of my trip. I just had to pull out my photo album from my trip. Pictures of Biarritz, Bayonne, St. Jean de Luz as well as the smell of the wonderfully fresh fish markets and coastal fishing villages have me calling for a return trip. Although I might skip the painful running with the bulls in Pamplona. Ouch! Enough said, I feel the book, stories, recipes, photos are excellent. A non-cooking friend of mine has been enthralled with the stories in the book and is looking forward to a trip to Pastis and Fringale. 5 STARS

Exposes Us to Unknown Place and Its Cuisine
Nestled between the two cusine powerhouses of France and Spain, the Basque are influenced by these two, yet retain and developed a food tangent of their own.

Here, Chef Hirigoynen shares his passion for this region and its food. He takes liberties at times to add his own touches, which he has been serving up in his restaurants in San Francisco.

He provides a complete two page listing of sources for the hard-to-find ingredients as well as a listing of restaurants, etc. if one tours the Pyrnees region.

I've tried with delight the Sea Bream with Garlic Vinaigrette "A La Concha", Lamb Stew with Mixed Nut Pesto, and Quince and Goat Cheese Layer Cake with Candied Pine Nuts.

Travel companion
I took the book to France with me. It enriched my enjoyment of "Veal Stew With Peppers" in Espelette, and the mayor of that town (and owner of the restaurant where we dined) was pleased (and proud) to see that I had his friend's book. If you buy cookbooks to explore (and not just to cook) you may like this. Its a great gift for anyone who is headed to the Basque country.
