Fantastic Book!
This was a great mystery, with well drawn characters, much suspense, and a fantastic conclusion! I read this book when I was young, along with the other books in the Stella/Kim Mystery series and I loved it.

not just for business people...
Although the book's title states Business Lessons, I think many people outside the business community will find this book inspirational because the stories are real and not techno-babble. Homemakers, teachers, students and other non-business people will come away with the message that truly we must all "use what we got" since it is indeed our differences that make us unique and special in this world AND that is what will help us to succeed in life.

I enjoyed reading this book very much and did not want to put it down! The catchy titles from Mom, make the lessons easy to remember and actually use, because they are backed up by the real life experiences of growing up. I was delighted to read in the middle of the book that Barbara is also a slow reader. I like to savor the words, and truly enjoyed the whimsical stories in this book.

My favorite lessons are #19 When there are ten buyers and three puppies, every dog is the pick of the litter, #13 If you want to be a cheerleader, you better know the cheers, #1 If you don't have big breasts, put ribbons on your pigtails (and just be as sweet as you are),and #20 Jumping out the window will make you either an ass or a hero

Use What You've Got and Other Business Lessons I learned
While waiting for a friend at the book store, I was intrigued by the title of learning business lessons from a Mom. As I waited for my friend, I ended up reading the first 3 chapters and purchasing the book.

From the minute you open the book, it is funny and thought provoking. Mixing a funny story that everyone can relate to with practical knowledge and important things you need to know about how to treat other people in the business world made this book awesome to read.

Barbara has shown in this book how to turn everything in to a positive, how to be creative, inventive and sometimes just downright funny. People often say that if you like what you do, you will never "work" a day in your life. Barbara has certainly given me new perspective about how to enjoy what I do and how to appreciate and enjoy the people I work with.

This book is great for people who love their mother, for mother's who need a creative alternative to rearing their children and for any business person who would like to learn the right way to do it. Thank you, Barbara, I enjoyed every minute of it.

Hilarious and Inspiring
Barbara Corcoran's book is a hilarious account of her successful rise to the top of the New York real estate market. Throughout the book she reflects back on her childhood citing funny antidotes and the lessons her mother teaches her to help cope with her challenges. She then shares how she has successfully applied these same lessons while building a million dollar business from the ground up. I found this woman's success story particularly inspiring as I am launching my own sales based business. I found myself laughing out loud every time I picked it up. Also, Barbara offers excellent sales tips and techniques at the end of the book I plan to utilize. Overall, an excellent, inspiring book.

An encouraging story for _Anyone_
Ok, It's been a long time since I read this book, close to 10 years, but I read and re-read it then. This moving story of a young girl learning to deal with epilepsy is wonderful for anyone having a hard time, especially young-adults. I think of it fondly as a fairy-tale.

A story woven with warmth, humor & adolescent understanding.
When Kit learned she had to write a paper called "Who I Am" for her English class, it was the last straw to her. She felt as if she hardly had time to think, let alone write. Kit was too busy worrying about her mother's illness, her younger brother's troubles in school, her older brother's girlfriends, and her little sister's need for attention. Yet, it was through these family concerns that Kit found the answer to her question: Who am I, anyway? This is a book about a preteen's teetering between childish blunders and adult insights. A delightful character, Kit is a heroine despite herself. Like many 12-year-olds, she's funny when at her most serious, with wisecracks that come straight from the heart. (Orinally titled: I Am The Universe.)
