Dorrie is the greatest picture book character ever. For nearly 30 years I've been checking the same copies of the Dorrie books out from my local library - and they're wonderful evry time. WHY ARE THEY MOSTLY OUT OF PRINT!!!???

Mr. Mullett wanted a boy, not a sneezly, wheezly, sniveling girl. Molly sets off on an adventure to rid the kingdom of a maurading ogre while Mrs. Mullett stays home, quietly sewing and knowing. Molly is clever, and her biggest obstacle is that the king and her father think she can't do because she is a mere girl.

My three year old pre-reader loves this book, because he can finish the rhymes. There's enough repetition of words (without getting boring) for him to "help" read.

Molly is brave and isn't afraid to fight the ogre, but there is no explcit violence. Molly's mom quietly helps Molly on her quest.

This is the most adorable book ever which tells a version of the origin of groundhog day and teaches that a balance between hard work and play is very important. This has been a favourite of mine for my entire life.

This is another exciting adventure involving Dorrie, the little Witch. This time, she and a fellow schoolmate must work together to untangle a magical mess. This was a good story by a very talented author, though I must confess it wasn't quite up to the high standards of the previous books. I still loved it and would recommend it highly.
