This book has been a great source for teaching myself how to use Office 97. I was a proficient user before, but this book shows all the little tweeks that make all the difference. Beginning users should also consider this book, as it starts from the very beginning- covering the start key and how to use programs. All you need to know is how to computer on. If you don't- ask someone and then purchase this book. It will take you the rest of the way! The program is easy to follow and includes projects to practice newly learnt skills. This is not a "computer guru" book...it reads English. Well worth the $$.

This work provides an excellent overview of the field of regulation from an economic point of view. The primary focus is economic rather than institutional -- as a result it is more appropriate for economists than for legal scholars. Although the book does not require extensive training in economics, it does assume some formal knowledge of basic economic concepts. Since its focus is economic, little time is spent discussing legal cases surrounding many of the regulations compared with, for example, Law, Business, and Society, by McAdams, et. al.

For the past two years I have been working as a consultant on the creation of an executive service for the UN. More recently I have played a similar role for the US federal government. I have become a student of the thinking and the books on developing leaders. This book is by far the most important book to read. Its based solidly on research findings but more importantly on intuitively valid conclusions. It makes practical sense.

It takes the current state of the art and moves it forward. It also raises important questions about prevailing beliefs and practices. The ideas developed in this book make you realize why most executive development is not productive.

I see this book as a companion piece to another of the great books on the subject, Results-Based Leadership. Jack Zenger is one of the authors of both books.

This book is a great compilation of the various topics associated with family businesses. It is written in short article form, making it especially useful as a quick reference guide to very specific issues.

The issues addressed can be either very general (like what is a family business and general statistics on them), to very specific (like estate planning, succession, board recruitment, conflict resolution). The authors also address the topic from different perspectives; there are chapters on people entering family businesses (family members and non family members), on consultants to fmaily businesses, on spouses of family business members, on investors in family businesses, and the expected focus on family managers in family businesses.

I have not seen a better compilation of topics. Despite the fact that it is a compilation, all topics are addressed with enough depth to make it sufficient reading on any individual topic of family business.

This book is a wonderful glimpse at the final days of one of America's most prominent Catholic leaders. Cardinal Bernardin embraced his trials with grace and dignity, and thus set an example for all of us. For those who would like a glimpse at the death of this great Catholic leader, I really can't say enough good about this book.

The collaborative editorial skills of Jack Bemporad, John T. Pawlikowski, and Joseph Sievers has rendered Good And Evil After Auschwitz: Ethical Implications For Today into an essential body of work that is a "must" for all serious Holocaust Studies reading lists and reference collections. The contributing essays are drawn from papers presented at an extraordinary symposium convened at the Vatican in 1998 and represents the view of more than thirty of the world's foremost theology and religious thinkers on the inescapable moral question of how, if at all, believers can reconcile their faith in a just and merciful god with the phenomena of the deliberate mass murder of millions of men, women and children during the Holocaust. Included is an interview with Marek Edelman, the last surviving leader of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising and excerpts from the writings of Moshe Flinker, Etty Hillesum, and Dietrich Bonhoffer.

This book, as it's title implies focuses on Humbert's short foray into Ireland. However this was only one of the many adventures that he crammed into a short life. A few extra pages to complete the story of this remarkable charachter would not have gone amiss. Anyone who can manage to win the heart of the Emperor's sister (for a while anyway), escape drowning in a shipwreck, befriend the Lafitte brothers, (pirates by trade), Marie the Sainted (a voodoo priestess), fight in the Vendee, Ireland, across central Eurpoe, Santo Dominica, New Orleans and attempt to lead an invasionary force to Mexico surely deserves a biography of more than 34 pages. The only thing that did annoy me about this book was Cooney's tendency to link the events of 1798 to the modern Irish Peace process and sugest that this is just exactly the way that long dead old warhorse Jean Joseph Humbert would have wanted it. Maybe he would have approved, maybe he wouldn't; probably he would just have eyed up a pretty girl and asked for another whiskey.

As the table of contents show (above), Allen's work is detailed and attuned to the life-giving tradition of Eastern Orthodoxy. As an Orthodox under the direction of a Father, I can attest to the reality of such an approach in tangible terms. Whatever tradition you come from, this book will give you insight into our collective tradition and hopefully encourage you to seek out someone with whom you can struggle and grow. "The man who chooses himself has chosen a fool."

Other books of interest in this regard are: "The Orthodox Way" by Bishop Kallistos Ware, "The Psalms", "A different Christianity" by Robin Amis, "Beginning to Pray" by Archbishop Bloom, and Colliander's classic, "The Way of the Ascetics". Pray. As Bishop Ware has said, the devil says 'tomorrow,' The Holy Spirit says, 'Today!'

The Interdisciplinary Straegies for English and Social Studies Classrooms: Toward Collaborative Middle and Secondary Teaching is an excellent piece of educational material. After being taught by Dr. Nowicki for several years I was able to experience much of the information from this book, and I have to say that it has helped me a great deal. This book really helps teachers to teach and students to learn. This book is all around excellence.
