poorly written - overwhelmingly simple introduction
The editor of this book could not have possibly played a significant role in getting this book reviewed prior to publication. The editot should have cleaned up the grammar. There were simply too many short thought that could have / should have been grouped together for increased clarity.

No survival for this guide in my library.
Nothing but an overview. Covers very nicely the topics of what can be done. It is extremely lacking of details of anything that you may need to implement. (If you are a system Admin I would hope you would not need this weak reference.) For implementing the SMS product, especially in an enterprise setting, It is a horrible reference.

good for setting up, but lacking in scripting
This book is good for setting up the software on the servers and on the clients, and gives an overview of how it functions along with the different services and how they interact, but to truely use sms u need to have some scripts, and this book sorely lacked any sms scripting training or setup, what scripting information was given was very vague...

450 Pages and Nothing to say
If you have a great deal of time to waste or a horrible case of insomnia then this book is for you. Unless you have no idea how to spell Windows (even when spotted the w, i, n, d, o, and w) then you probably know or can figure out everything in this book. More an advertisement for Veritas products (that are marginally functional in the real world), this is not the work the world needed.

If you want the real world, go out and live it and don't believe the advertising (which is all this book cracks up to be).

Real Volume Management Advice
This book gives you every conceivable example you would ever need to deal with managing on-line storage. It's obvious the author has had a lot of experience working out volume management issues with Windows servers.

Detailed Brochure
This book does not give much information on implementing PeopleSoft technically. Rather, it's a book that advertises the capabilities of PeopleSoft and its different Modules. This book teaches consultants how to do project management rather than how to use peopletools. I would not recommend this book for technical people. It's a book for consultants, who wants to know things to consider in implementing peoplesoft, what resources are needed and how to go about with a project. But it won't teach you how to really use peoplesoft.

DON'T BUY IT! IT'S A TRICK!
Like several people before me said, it has typos and unreadable screenshots. But that's not the worst. Sure, you get some CDs with the book but don't think they are a distribution. They are an incomplete, butchered distribution for which the installation software was NOT modified and getting anything done - like installing - with this big piece of *&#$ is next to impossible. Maybe a Linux 'expert' could piece it back together but not a newbie or somebody learning. They call it an 'evaluation version' but it doesn't give you a chance to evaluate it.

The only way this book might be of use is if: a) you ALREADY have SuSE, and b) it has particular info you want. Since it commonly seems to take you to the edge of complete info and not get you there I would say there are probably better books to be had. Stay away from this junk.

Where were the proof readers?
This is without a doubt the worst book I have ever read. The screen captures are virtually unreadable, and the book is full of errors. Typos, technical errors, references to the wrong figures, references to lines in examples that were not there, etc. The errors became such a distraction that I ceased really being able to focus on the technical material in the book - such that it is. Syntax examples are in the wrong case, fonts are not used consistently to call out commands, programs, etc. Stupid stuff like periods missing from IP addresses, etc. that any proof reader should have caught. I quit reading it around page 214, and threw it away. I emailed the publisher, and their response after several days was, in so many words, "thank you for taking the time to express your thoughts." My email to SuSE came after only a few hours and was far more personal. Don't waste your money on this book. I'm really sorry that I did. And I'll be very very careful before I buy another book by this publisher. (I guess O'Reilly has spoiled me!)

I loved it...
SuSE is my distribution of choice and although I have more Linux books than I need, I took a peek at this one and decided I had to buy it. I think the book is set up very well, is easy to read and comes closer than other books I've read to being written in "English" rather than "Engineer". It isn't terribly SuSE specific (which I think is a good thing) but it does cover a good range of topics from installation to configuration including SuSE specific tidbits here and there.

I read the other reviews here and was puzzled by them... I am a terible speller which may explain why I didn't notice the typos in the book. Your milage may vary...

CD Doesn't Work on Windows 95B !
My PC runs on Windows 95B and it locks up with this CD-ROM. The support people sent me a patch for it, but it still doesn't work. They know it doesn't work with Windows 95, yet they still sell the book.

Good for Basics. Poor for Advanced Topics
This book covers the basics somewhat well. It is good for beginners. It includes simple functionality to pull data from a table. But beware, the book is already outdated, and does not cover the most recent version of Des/Dev2000. In addition, it could be frustrating to use due to the syntax errors in the book's examples. On the bright side there is the CD.

The CD samples actually work, and contradict the poor code in the book. If you want to see how Developer2000 works, review the CD, and then take your pen to the book, make changes, and submit your edits (and bill for your time) to the Publisher. However, this is all contingent upon the fact that you can load the CD. I spent two days attempting to install the CD... even when I have used Oracle and Dev2000 before.

A CD tip for the USER that the book won't tell you: the Dev2000 Demo CD only runs on Win95.

A CD tip for the AUTHOR and PUBLISHER: Everybody does not run Win95.

Overall, the book is below average since it's examples cover only the most basic of reports and functionality. Maybe, you could teach a college class with this, but it is impractical in business. Who prints a report based on a simple join anymore?

Inquiry on this Book....
I am looking for this book that comes with a version 2.0 CD. I managed to find one with version 1.0 CD from Singapore's Borders Bookstore. Can you help me to find the one I want?

Thank you.

Obtuse reading;
This book has some information that is useful, however most of what I needed to know was difficult to find and implement. The lack of useful guidance with clear cut reasoning for milestone steps was frustrating (i.e. organization naming and bringing in additional domains into your empty root that have existing Exchange organization). Buying this book was not the best use of our limited funds!

Worst tech book ever.
I am writing this in hopes that no one will make the same mistake and buy this book. This book was of no help to me what so ever during my Exchange install. The book is poorly written. The chapter order makes no sense at all. The index is useless. The whole book seems to be written to tell about Exchange 2000, but not give any useful information. The authors should be ashamed, and I think they would be, but I don't think they read the book.

Good book
This book was very good. I got a different perspective than other Exchange 2000 books I have read. It covers Exchange 2000 technology issues well, and has been a good reference book for my implementation.

Awful Reference and Introduction
I purchased this book for my client server class. I had to go out and purchase the client server for dummies to explain and illustrate client server technologies. Hard to follow and author loses you in his self-centered tirades. Do not buy this book, it's awful. Save your money and look elsewhere for your needs.
