An interesting and very diverse book on synaesthesia
Just like most books of collected readings, Classic and Contemp. Readings presents many conflicting view points that can either confuse the reader or stimulate the reader (hopefully both). Some of the readings are relatively old so the language and ideas are a little archaic. All in all however the diverse readings represent a good majority of the ideas behind synaesthesia. This book is for serious exploration into synaesthesia.

Campus nonsense, no dirty boots
If you're an armchair general who never served in the military and who believes that professors know more about war than soldiers, this is the book for you. If you love dreary writing, buy two copies. If tendentious history is your thing, buy three. This is campus arrogance with little sense of the complexity, confusion and danger of battle. But if you're just aching to believe that generals are all dummies, and that anybody with a doctorate in international relations could run our wars better than the men and women who sweat, bleed and die for our country, this is the perfect book for you. Good trees died for this.

What?
I am not sure what to make of this book. The model is nothing new if you really think about it. It's bottled snake oil to some extent. The analysis is arbitrary (that does not mean wrong) and one can find subtle flaws. There are many interesting facts, and other ways to look at events and battles, but the book is useful only to the narrow-minded. I wonder who wrote the other reviews. His friends?

Excellent and highly recommended
If you enjoy this type "failure" analysis (such as the book "Normal Accidents"), I think you'll find this to be an excellent read. My interest is primarily in business strategy and related issues (not in military history and strategy per se), but the authors present material which I found to be very useful across many different professions. My complements to the authors for good cases, good analysis and good writing. I really had great fun reading this book. It could have used better proof reading, but the errors enountered in no way hindered the presentation in any material way.

Save your money.
You know, typically people don't make you pay to read their advertisements. This is an exception. Each of the self-serving articles in this book is followed by a 1-2 page advertisement for the author that, not surprising, offers a service to solve the problem outlined in the article. How convenient! This book is a glorified collection of vendor-sponsored white papers.

More Secrets, More Success
This book was a valuable resource. Many tid bits of info that can really make a big difference for your success.

Administrative Decentralization: Strategies for Developing Countries
Published in Paperback by Kumarian Press (1999)
Authors: John M. Cohen and Stephen B. Peterson
Amazon base price: $24.95
Used price: $11.00

informative reading
Cohen and Peterson attempts to make the argument that the lack of role definition has led to failures in decentralization efforts in the third world. Current efforts have focused on system wide changes/decentralization, and assumes the roles the actors have after the changes will take care of itself.

They provide case studies from various countries to show how they perform using various decentralization schemes. Without giving too much away, the Mexico case is an example of what the authors deem as what other countries should strive for in decentralization.

Their chapter on the evolution of decentralization and the case studies was very informative. When they elaborated on administrative concepts, it is very easy for a person not involved in the development administration field to get lost in the jargon and forget what the whole point of the chapter was. This book is not designed for the person looking for a good international development read.

The conclusion is sketchy and not very convincing that is why I give it 3 stars.

Terrible
Don't waste your money. There is about 5-pages of this book that are of value regharding relative strengths and weaknesses of defensive formations. Other than that, it is like an instruction manual with larger type and pretty pictures. The publishers should be ashamed of theselves calling this a "strategy guide" it is nothing of the sort.

Just all right
The main reason I was interested in this strategy guide was for hints on beating the Mini-Camp challenges. The guide was not helpful at all in this respect, the tips for the challenges are a mere sentence or two. Very disappointing.

As far as the rest of the book goes, a lot of it seems to be extraneous material meant to take up space, such as a list of all the Madden cards, a list of every player in the game, a section with one person's walkthrough of the fantasy draft, etc. This was interesting from a certain perspective, but ultimately not too helpful in actually playing the game.

The thing I liked most was the tips on rushing plays. The guide does give some good advice on when to juke, spin, stiff-arm, etc. Outside of this information, I thought this strategy guide was nothing special. A couple of pages on each team and some eye candy (in the form of unhelpful screenshots), and that's about it.

Mistakes
i agree with the other review i noticed all the same mistakes that were in the game, but being a first time buyer of madden(I am extremely impressed, best game ever) i found that it helped a lot. I definintely think that they could've done a much better job, but i still found it enjoyable.
