Since I was a child
I'm 34 years old. This book was given to me when I was 8. It served as the backstop against all of the angst, fear, anger and confusion of pre-pubescent existence. When "bobby" threw a rock at me, I turned to this book. When "jenny" didn't return my affection, I turned to this book. When "Joey" violated my trust, I turned to this book. Nothing can bridge the gap between the teachings of Jesus and the adolocent existence. My dear people, if you do anything for you youth, do buy this book. Give it to them. And let them use it as they will - with God's help. Surely, you will benefit.

Engage Your Children During Family Devotions
This is a wonderful tool for parents who are trying to find a way to reach their children during family devotions. Each story begins with a theme Bible verse, and then presents a story involving children and their parents related to the Bible passage. Afterward, there is a series of questions so that you can discuss the story with your children. For older children there is an extended Bible reading listed. Finally there is a concluding prayer.

Not only will this help involve your children in family devotions, but the questions also help to develop listening skills. These benefits flow into church on Sunday morning. I highly recommend this book for anyone trying to involve their children in family devotions.

Little visits and More little visits with God
When my boys were young and My wife and I were newly born Christians, we purchased these two books. They were loved by our children more than anything else we provided for their Christian growth. Those two books have since disappeared from my library and I am so glad to have found one and I will keep looking for the other. I want them for my Grandchildren and friends. I want them for myself as well! I have never found another pair of books with a short story and devotional thought for each day that fits in so well with a childs everyday living and learning experience. Everyone can relate to each story. Excellent.

The Camera Assistant - A Complete Pro Handbook (Hart)
This is probably the best handbook for this discipline I've ever seen. I bought a copy when I was in the States three years ago - and it was swiped ! I plan to prescribe this book for my students from 2001 onwards. Well done !

The bible for operating camera personnel!
This book is a complete and highly insightful manual for motion picture camera assistants and operators. It covers the disciplines, techniques, skills and even the politics of the craft. For anyone involved or wanting a fabulous look into the workings of the film industry, buy this book!

This is the new Bible.
Compiled from years of teaching innumerable students at the International Film & Television Workshops in Rockport, ME, this book supercedes all previous texts on the subject. A former President of East Coast Camera Local 644, Hart writes in a manner as readable as it is thorough. Illustrations and appendices are completely useful. This is the new Bible for the working A.C. and anyone seeking to understand how the camera department really functions.

A Pleasure to Meet Such Gifted Women
I became interested in "Ten Sisters" when I noticed that the story took place in my home state of Illinois, but specifically central Illinois. I just graduated from EIU which is located in Charleston and just next door to Mattoon. Reading about the Waggoners in those towns was such a joy, but meeting nine of the sisters was an even greater honor. They signed my book at the mall in Mattoon and were extremely gracious at my interest in their stories. I wasn't able to finish the novel before I met them, but even so, reading the chapters after I had met the authors gave the book a personal touch. I was in disbelief at some of the personal trials they went through. It is amazing that any of them survived so much heartache and uncertainty! My favorite aspect of the book is how Jenny and the older sisters wrote about the same period of time, but by the time you get to Vera's, Audrey's, and Doris' chapters, you are set in a completely different timeframe with completely different lifestyles. It is amazing how so many different stories come out of one very close, very special family. They told me that they will be coming out with an audio version of the book and they'll be featured in a popular women's magazine in Nov. or Dec. I'll be sure to check it out, and you should too!

This made a great English Project!!!
I really don't like to read...let alone do a report on something that I have read! I don't know why, but I actually like doing it for this book...... It has some really funny, sad, and just odd things in it. I mean who would have a pet goat as a kid? I am in Highschool and lots of my friends and teachers were all dying to read this book. I would sit in class and read bits and pieces and the kids around me would always want to hear more...it was weird! Stuff like having a boxing ring in the front yard, or ten sisters sleeping in one bed not knowing who wet the bed in the morning...for some reason that sparked their interest???? Then there was the sad stuff in the book that was described in detail. It really made me learn a lot more then I already knew about these ladies, it's like stepping into their shoes (although they didn't wear them too often) I really like the book, after I read it there were just soo many things to tell about it in the report I did for my sophmore English class that it ended up getting an "A"...which is odd for me! :) This book is great...there are just soo many things to like about it, so many stories. The part I really like about the book though was that sometimes the sisters had different view points about the story, it was kinda neat to see what each one said about certain things...if they remembered or included it. And living in Iowa, it was a big highlight of my life...not many things can do that here! thanx-AM

A heart-warming look at real life.
Courage comes at an early age... these women had it in 1942 and even today display that same courage. As I know each one of these women personnally, my review may be a bit biased...but anyone that reads this work will see that I am only telling the facts. Each sister is a remarkable work of art. This book is a true "Love story" about "Family" and the meaning it gives to our lives. "Divided" as a family at such an early age has given great meaning to "togetherness" as each sister worked their way from mid 20th Century to present day.... Their style of writing is free and bold as they tell of perceptions and feelings. Just to get ten sisters to sit down and author a book together is almost fiction. Yet again their spirit of "one for all" won out, and I, a reader won too. This book is "true LIFE" at its worst, and best

excellent daily devotional for young children
This book contains short, one-page devotionals designed with the young child in mind. The daily devotional begins with a Bible verse, continues with a short life lesson, and concludes with a suggested prayer. Older children that can read may begin the lesson by reading the Bible verse and all children will enjoy participating in the brief activity included in each day's life lesson.

A wonderfully prayerful work
I was with Megan last summer when this book was in the final stages of production. I was impressed with the concept when she was explaining it to me and I was intrigued to see if it would live up to my expectations. It far surpassed them!

The book is a wonderfully simple idea - but so very effective.

It contains an introduction, which gives a very informative explanation about iconography. Following this introduction there are 31 full colour icons. These icons have short explanations and prayerful reflections upon them.

I should recommend this book both as a tool for the study of iconography and more importantly as a deeply spiritual medium for prayer.

All About Mary: A Mick Hart Mystery

Mary Was Quite Contrary
The novella, All About Mary, gives you just that, everything about Mary. Mary Jane Jenkins is a woman that lived hard for what she needed to survive. A single mother of two young children, Mary used men just as they used her.

When the novella opens, we are introduced to the gruesome death of Mary and the arrest of her fiance'Perry Rogers. Perry is the prime suspect and to the police department, it's an open and shut case. However, private investigator Mick Hart does not see it that way and goes about tracking down Mary's killer at the request of Perry's mother. Hart comes across a list of suspects each of whom had a personal interest in Mary. Their interest ranged from lust, to like, to love.

Lawrence Christopher gives us a tale that is short but very complete. We understand Mary and her plight because we are privy to her childhood and her adulthood pre-Perry. I thoroughly enjoyed the comparison of butter to Mary's body; the chapter titles of some nursery school rhymes and song titles with references to "Mary".

This is very good murder-mystery that will make you shake your head just as you would have shaken some sense into Mary.

Sexy, Honest, Urban & Spiritual
This is a fantastic new work.

The murder mystery is woven through alternate points of view: Perry, the accused, is rambling towards a confession that just doesn't seem to make sense. Mick, the detective, is searching for the truth. Mary, the deceased, looms larger than life in the background - a woman whose reality transcends her death, and even the pages of the book.

It blends several universal themes:
- The pain of unrequited love
- The trouble of addiction
- The power of divine love
- The struggle in urban society

The story will ring a chord with anyone struggling to make their way in society, anyone on the wrong side of a 1 way relationship, and anyone struggling with the gap between a conviction and reality that don't mesh.

The novel displays outstanding depth in a mere 100some pages. You will read it in one sitting, and immediately crave the next from masterful new author Lawrence Christopher.

Irresistible Intrigue
The young, seductive woman, Mary Jane Jenkins had a way with men. Her
thick, yet attractive body was like a drug that many of the men she was
involved with, just couldn't get enough of. A victim of physical and
sexual abuse since childhood, Mary Jane had a lot of painful skeletons
in the closet known as her life. Instead of dealing with her emotional baggage,
Mary Jane chose to lock it away. She used her mistreated and
sexually exploited body as a tool to get what she needed to support
herself and her two young children, Sapphire and Gerald. Tragically,
Mary Jane's painful past and turbulent lifestyle resulted in her
untimely murder.

As far as Detective Benjamin McIntosh of the Odelot Police Department
is concerned, Mary Jane's murder is an open and shut case. Perry
Rogers, Mary Jane's boyfriend, was being held in custody for the murder
and there was plenty of evidence to implicate him. Perry's mother,
desperately searching for a way to vindicate her son, hires Private
Investigator Mick Hart to look into the case. And thus, the story
unfolds.

Lawrence Christopher takes us on a painful journey through Mary's life,
with Mick Hart as the tour guide. We learn about Mary's difficult life
and about several of the other men that were a part of it. Mick has to
weed through a growing list of suspects with the hopes of finding out
the truth behind Mary's murder. Did Perry really kill Mary or was
someone else responsible? This question will have you turning page
after page in this novella.

Christopher has done an excellent job creating a mystery that once you
start, you won't want to put down. In spite of the fact that Mary was
killed before the story begins, you will finish this book feeling like
you know her personally. This story is both seductive and filled with
intrigue from beginning to end. Although this story is relatively
short, the plot is thoroughly developed with lots of twists and turns
leading up to an even more surprising ending. I truly enjoyed this
suspenseful yet spiritually uplifting book. As an added bonus, there
is a short story called "Dog 'Em: A Mick Hart Mystery that is equally
as pleasant to read. I give this book a RAW rating of 5.

Insulin Resistance Diet: How to turn off your body's fat mak
I'm tired of diets that tell me I can't eat carbohydrates. Eating a diet too high in protein is not realistic over a long period of time. This book offers a healthy eating plan that can be followed for life instead of a limited diet with unsatisfying choices. I'm happy I found this book and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a healthier way to manage their weight.

Linking and Balancing Really Works
With middle age approaching, and after several unsuccessful dieting attempts, I didn't think I would ever lose all the extra weight I had been carrying around. I went to Dr. Hart's Wellness Workshop last year truly in despair. Dr. Hart and Mary Kay were genuinely interested in getting to the bottom of my problem. Using their simple-to-follow eating plan, I have lost 50 pounds in the past year, lowered my cholesterol, and I feel great. I haven't been "on a diet", but have learned to change the way I organize my meals and think about foods. I even went on vacation, ate and drank what I wanted, and still came home a pound lighter! Use this book to lose weight, but teach its principles to your family too, so they can avoid developing insulin-resistance and the diseases related to it.

Insulin Resistance Diet: How to turn off your body's fat...
I'm so glad I found this book! My mother is overweight and for years doctors simply told her to eat less. However, she eats very little, excercises constantly and continues to gain weight. She's tried several diets and the results have always been minimal. Finally, one doctor said she might be insulin resistant. This book clearly details how your body's metabolic system can function more effectively by linking protein with carbohydrates at every meal. Unlike other diets that ask you to eliminate carbohydrates, which is unhealthy, this book tells you how to effectively keep carbohydrates in your diet. Some great recipes are also included. This book is better than a diet! It tells you how to successfully boost your metabolism with the foods that you eat!
