Magical children's book
This book provides readers of all ages with a wonderful look into the life of Kofi, a "magician" from Bonwire. The children I have shared it with love it, and Kofi's magic serves as a reminder for all of us of the power of imagination. The photographs are rich, and the text is soothing. Look no further for a book that will put you in the mood to daydream.

Review of the Life of Ireland's Best Stained Glass Artist
When I got this book as a gift from my brother-in-law's mother, who lives in Ireland, I thought that is was going to be a boring autobiography on some unknown artist. Of course, I was totally wrong. In all,I have read this book about 7 times, and I never cease to tire of it. It has complete info of this man's life, and in between it gives beautiful illustrations and stories of his stained glass art. I was taken away, and I still can't believe the great care this man has taken to create, out of his own hands, these masterpieces. This book has even gave me the want to go to these churches and see firsthand what Harry Clarke made. I totally urge to read this book, and you will treasure it as I do and will forever.

The Creek Watchers
Very realistic teen dialogue. Got some spiritual points across without being "Preachy". Some intense emotional parts that really kept the pages turning. I liked getting the guys perspective of everything from his journal entries.

Great book!
This is a well-written, entertaining book for kids (aged 14-16 or so). The story is great and told through two character's perspectives - male and female. Friendship and coming-of-age are dominant themes, which any teen can relate to.

Brilliantly written
This book is a mid-career biography of Dr. Paul Brand, a leading researcher in rehabilitation for leprosy patients. The book is extremely thorough in its details, perhaps overly so in some places. It begins with the lives of Brand's grandparents, gives a full account of his father's earlier influences, and includes much information about Paul Brand's early childhood in India, as well as his later childhood in Britain. Despite the depth of details, the book is extremely readable, and I found it to be a real page-turner from cover to cover.

One of my favorite biographies
From his beginning as the son of English missionary parents working in India, to his schooling in England, marriage, family, further work as a pioneer in leprosy treatment, innovative surgeries, and on to his continued research in America, this book tells the story of a man who has lead an exciting life. Dr. Brand's humility and ability to adapt to different cultural and environmental conditions both stem from his love for God and God's creation. Philip Yancey's fine foreword enhances Wilson's portrait of this great man. Recommended reading.

Not that Impressed by this Book
I was hoping for something new and different, but this is the same old recycled stuff we've been hearing for years. I found Dr. Clarke to, at times, be extremely patronizing to his reading audience. Not every woman is a crowbar. Sometimes, unfortunately, there are 2 clams in a relationships which really leads to relationship problems. If you really want a good book on relationships, read some of the books by Florence Littauer and her husband. When my husband and I read their book, we found unique ideas and improved communication tools we could really use. Sorry, but for the more mature couple (50+ years old) this book didn't offer anything we haven't heard before.

Mandatory reading for couples
This book is insightful, humorous, easy to read and understand. It is an essential book for libraries and a great gift idea for weddings. One critical part of the book talks about what happens to men if they don't express their feelings. This part is a little underemphasized because these repercussions (from not expressing emotions) are marriage threatening, addictive and destructive behaviors. There are other books that handle those topics I guess. However, I wish the author would have bolded or underlined this small section. It is easily missed. This is a book I will have on hand for gifts. It is a mandatory read!

Thsi is the ordinary person's best guide to relationships!!!
This book held my interest from beginning to end. I would recommend this to all couples who are even thinking about marriage.

It had no plot - a waste of time
I had to read this book for 8th grade summer reading. I couldn't believe what a dumb story it was. It made no sense but was quite funny. Maybe I just don't get it.

Boy From Aus
Having read this book when I was in year 10, it was a great eye openeer for me, with the revelation of the significance of how we perceive 'normaility'.

At a time in every teenager's life where they are struggling to find meaning, udnerstanding, this was a useful read...

4 years later, it still remains as a book that turned me into a bit of a rebel, yet allowed me to realise that we can try to be normal, or we can try ot be different...just be yourself....that's the beauty of life...........

Great Book!
This is a very dry account of a teenage boy's struggle to get by in his teenage years and his quest for normalcy. It is hilarious! This is a very interesting book, it isn't just funny, it is also a complex look at teen angst, what it means to be normal, there are parts of it that I laugh about when I just think about them. Al Capsella Takes a Vacation was also really funny.

The Blues
I approached this book hoping that it would educate me and be an interesting read. I have already seen the movie about her life and read Lady Sings The Blues, so I was hoping for a more in depth look at the lady. To be truthful, this book is not up to that challenge and throws little new light upon her life.

Bore me to Death
I read "Lady Sings the Blues" and loved it, but once I found out that it was ghost written, I decided to find a farely accurate bio of the great Lady Day. This had the best reviews on Amazon.com, so I borrowed it from the library. Lucky for me. This book was long winded, dry, and boring. It read like a thesis paper. The quotes and anecdotes were misplaced and some had nothing to do with the passage it was featured in. Some of the stories were like listening to your Grandfather tell some gawd-aweful long story that doesn't have a single narrative. I think Clarke couldn't decide if he was writing about the times or Billy Holiday. Granted he mentioned everything under the sun to give the reader as sense of the times and culture, but there was little devoted to Billy per se. Great research, but it needed a better editor. My search continues...

Entertaining and Educational!
"Wishing on the Moon" by Donald Clarke, is an incredibly remarkable book. I was totally in awe how a man can capture every little detail of Billie Holiday's life, as well as those who were around her...those that new her the best and AT her best. He tells the truth in all of it's entirety. The information gathered to produce this book is very well written, for it gives the reader a set time that a certain event has taken place. He(the author) goes into a summary of each period to give the reader background information about people that played a part in her life. This form of writing helps the reader not only learn of the life and times of this great performer, but also helps the reader imagine what is going in her (Billie Holiday's) lifetime as you read. It's like a great movie fit into a little book!
