Great night book which keeps the interest going
When I saw this book I thought my son would not sit through it, as he was still little(2&1/2). He loves the book and has most of it memorized. It's a book of funny words great rhymes and lots of fun for young kids to associate with. Definite Thumps Up!!!!

This is wonderful for children and adults!
I am a mom and a former children's librarian. I highly recommend this book for preschool-Kindergarten age children.

Reveals the real name of the Hickory Dickory Dock mouse!
What an absolutely fun and enjoyable read. To go through the whole "clock strikes" sequence not only helps my daughter learn numbers, but we were able to get up close and personal with the famous mouse. The author came up with some fantastic new nursery rhymes, holding true to the fun-to-say "Hickory Dickory Dock!" We loved reading this book over and over again because the words really move along easily. The illustrator added great visual characterization of such a fun tale. Great job, it's fun to see the nursery rhymes take on new and energetic life! The mouse and his adventures endeared me to this modern version of the nursery rhyme forever. I'd love to see more by Mr. Aylesworth.

Great pictures to go with a favorite kid's song
My daughter loves the Five Little Monkey's song, so much so, that she wanted to jump in her crib every morning when she got up for a month. This book became a favorite the first time we read it. She loves reading the story and looking at the pictures, as well as repeating parts of the story as we read it. The song/story itself is simple; the lyrics repeat as one-by-one the monkeys fall off the bed.

Too much fun for bedtime!
Yes, this book WILL get the kids trying to jump on the bed. It's a lot of fun, and much laughing is heard whenever we read it. There is a lot of detail in the pictures - I love watching the doctor, and Mama gives us a great ending! I picked this up when my younger son was asking for us to play "monkeys on the bed" (the rhyme with hand motions)over & over & over - my fingers were tired. We've been reading ever since! Have I mentioned that the board book format is a great, sturdy idea? Definately a good buy, and highly recommended.

you (and your children) will die laughing
I love this book. My daughter (3 ½) could not stop howling with laughter as we read this book about five times in a row. By the fifth or so reading, she'd memorized it (not that hard to do since we just count down the number of monkeys jumping on the bed: "five little monkeys, jumping on the bed, one fell off and bumped his head, mama called the doctor and the doctor said, No more monkeys jumping on the bed!" How could you not laugh after reading this book? Plus, the illustrations with the little monkeys are adorable. The other ones in the series are not nearly as good as this one, so if you only buy one, make it the original five little monkeys.

My Opinion About Don't Wake Up Mama!
My opinion about Don't Wake Up Mama is that I think it is a very good childrens book. It is a good book for young children to start reading, it has easy words, that young kids can understand. For English, I have to read three childrens books, and write a review on each one. I think that this book is a really good, well written book. My favorite part of this book is how they are treating their mother with a happy birthday. I also thought using monkey's in place of children was a great idea. It gave the book a more interesting twist. The pictures were also really great. They all went right along with the story. I highly suggest this book to other children.

Don't Wake Up Mama
A GREAT book. My 21/2 year old loves this book. He loves the pictures, and the repetition of the phrase "shhh, don't wake up mama" is fun for him to say as we read. My 6 year old loves the book, because the monkeys are so sneaky as they try to bake a surprise cake for their mother's birthday. All of the Five Little Monkey books are wonderful.

Five Little Monkeys Sitting in a Tree
The engaging pictures, suprise ending and repeated phrases in this book are the perfect way to get young children excited about subtraction! As a family of five monkeys goes on a picnic, they begin teasing an alligator. One by one, the monkeys disappear as the crocodile snaps its teeth. Children can count the monkeys that are left, after each time the alligator snaps and join in on the "Can't catch me" line that is repeated. It seems to be a predictable book, slowly loosing one monkey each time the alligator comes. However, the ending is suprising, and some children are able to find clues in the pictures that lead to finding out the suprise ending. This book is a great way for parents or teachers to introduce subtraction in a meaningful way! I highly recommend it. :)

The five little monkeys are at it again!
My daughter (4) has almost worn out her copies of Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed and Don't Wake Up Mama, so I bought her this and Five Little Monkeys with Nothing to Do. They are already bedtime favorites--they are bright and colorful, the rhymes are lots of fun and the stories are appealing to kids. She loves to sit and 'read' them to herself after we have read them to her and tucked her in for the night. She falls asleep with these books in her bed quite regularly. We love the Five Little Monkeys!

Good Book, but not spectacular
Fun Book about Camping and how to deal with Bullies, where Jerome deals with a bully creatively, and with a little help from friends.

If you're not a camper, it's still a fun book!
This is a terrific, heartwarming book about how two young boys deal with a bully while on a camping trip. It has a terrific surprise ending that will really catch the attention of all children!

Monkeys are Funny so the Book is Too
I thought that this was a funny book that would be great for young children. It is a fun and easy book to read, with great pictures. The pictures do a wonderful job of showing what is happening in the story, making it easier for young kids to follow along. The monkeys are a good choice of character for the story, because every little kid loves monkeys. I recommend this book for any young kid who wants to read and laugh at the same time.

Extremely popular at bedtime!
I find the meter seems "off" in some of the stanzas in this particular monkey episode, and the illustrations of the monkey books are not particularly appealing to me, but who cares? My daughter (almost three) loves this one and asks for it almost every nap and bedtime. She enjoys the rhymes, likes how the monkeys make faces (at how yucky the car is), mimics the crocodiles, etc. It's a hit! Not too bad to read aloud a thousand million times, either.

I found it kind of odd that another reviewer feels this is a good book about car washing. Only one page actually features the monkeys washing the car (the rest of the time they're painting it, de-stinking it, moving it, etc.). When they do, it's with a hose and sponges, not through a car-wash. If you're really looking for books about car washes, you might want to keep looking! This is a silly, fun book about monkeys, crocodiles, old rickety cars, and not much more.

Similar to taking my kids to Bubble's Car Wash in Houston
Absolutely Fabulous book on car washing and great rhymes and story line. If you have ever been with the kids to a car wash and watch the crazy stuff they do at car washes, like the one we went to after reading this book in Houston, you will appreciate the book even more.

Detective Penguin Strikes again!
I like Mr. Pin in all of his books. This book was good because there was two mysteries in it. A Case of Stolen Eggs was my favorite part of the book because someone tries to knock Mr. Pin off the trail by putting grit in a cake

Zucchini

A Wonderful Book For All Ages!
I first read this book when I was about ten years old. Its sense of longing for love and belonging not just in Zucchini, but in the boy Billy as well makes this book a perfect companion for all of us who have at one time or another been a lonely, scared child in a big scary world. The bond between the ferret and the boy is quite touching, and will warm even the coldest heart.

The only problem with this book is Ms. Dana's misinformation about ferret diet (try feeding a ferret a carrot!), but that by no means takes away from the quality of this story. This is one of those rare children's books that will find its way into your heart as well.

A touching story about a ferret and self discovery
While Barbara Dana gets a large number of ferret facts wrong in this book, Zucchini is still a delightful tale of two soul mates: Zucchini the ferret and Billy, a boy. Both Billy and Zucchini are searching for something in their lives, but neither knew it was each other. The sequel, Zucchini Out West, is a better book both from the ferret fact and character development standpoints.

Devan's Book Review

Alvin's Disguises
Hmm....just read Alvin Fernald, Master of a Thousand Disguises. Interestingly enough, this book is Alvin's Secret Code with Codes being replaced by Disguises. Alvin et al help a lady recover family heirlooms[Treasure](same premise in both books). Bad guys try to get clue to whereabouts of the treasure(same in both). Bad guys foiled by Alvin and friends(same). Treasure is found near river(same). It was just too many similarities to be a coincidence. Alvin's Secret Code is one of my favorite children's books of all time. I did enjoy the book, but I felt a little cheated that I had the same storey just freshed up a bit by using disguises instead of codes. If you haven't read Alvin's Secret Code, ignore all of this and you will really enjoy the book. If you have, be prepared to read things you have before.
