Thorough, but not an easy read
A MUST for every serious Bible student
Chafer's eight volume Systematic Theology is skillfully written from a premillinnial, dispensational view. He not only beautilfully covers all the disciplines from Theology Proper to Eschatology, but also the various uses of the word "theology" as well as the eight Biblical Covenants and the Dispensations. It is a comprehensive work on each topic but not written in a lofty manner which would be tedious for the reader. Chafer has made the study of Systematic Theology alive and exciting.

Good Book on Defending Premillennialism
If one wants an introduction on how premillennialists interpret certain passages in the OT and NT to support their view this book is a good placed to start. Though most of the contributors are from a revised dispensationalist perspective, some are outside the mainline dispensationalist camp (e.g., Darrell Bock and David Lowery are progressive dispensationalists, and Walter Kaiser is a Promise Theologian). However, all agree that the OT and NT do support an intermediate Kingdom on earth after this age. Essays written by Elliot Johnson (introduction to hermeneutics), John Sailhamer, Walter Kaiser, S. Lewis Johnson, and Harold Hoehner are very well written (especially Hoehner's). Darrell Bock's essay was the only disappointment as he tries to combine the already/not yet framework into his argument. I'm sure Bock's essay caused a lot of opposition to his viewpoint from the other authors (probably with the exception of Kaiser and Lowery). Overall, a good book that cannot be ignored even by those who oppose premillennialism.

overkill
The material is good, but the author get to involved to soon in the text. It is a must to sort through what information you need and the excess! I do not think that this is a good text for a student new to statistics. Examples are poor and brief.
It serves the purpose.
In the past I have been quite critical regarding the quality of this book. I had found it tedious, overly descriptive, and lacking of significant examples.
In the meanwhile I have been using this book consistently because I needed information and verifications regarding the design of a challenging study. Well, I had to change my mind regarding my doubts and skepticism, and now I feel that I must vote in favor of the book.
Research is not exactly a walk on the beach, and this is certainly not a "beach" book. Research requires lots of patience, and very systematic people willing to devote much of their time for the sake of science. This book should be approached in a similar fashion, and with the intent and will to learn. If the reader establishes such a relation with this textbook, she/he will find most of her/his questions answered.
Aside the above praises, the author should consider to add practical examples to theory. This suggestion could be of great help to students willing to stay focused on a stimulating problem, and without ending up lost somewhere in the middle of the path.

Understanding Research Methods and Statistics
I never thought that I would understand statistics, but this book proved me wrong! The explanations were very detailed and tailored for people who have not previously taken a statistics course. I highly recommend this book, especially for those in the psychology field...

uninspirational celebration
scymanski has an ok story here. price has a good one about the gorgon. that one was very enjoyable, and had some lovely details. otherwise, this was dreary read. so many of these stories were not only badly invented, but seemed so uninspired to. i almost felt sorry for the writers, for making so bad stories. i think this is chaosium's worst.

I recommend it be included in any good personal library. It is an excellent resource for Biblical positions based on literal interpretation of scripture. (This literal hermeneutic leads to the Dispensational position. Mixing alagorical interpretation leaves the interpreter as the ultimate authority, choosing when God meant exactly what He said, and when to alagorize and as such determining what God really meant. This literal non-literal hermeneutic leads to the Covenant position.)
For me this set was the text book for a 3-year series of theology courses.
