This Is One You Keep And Reread
The author is unusual in that he handles a novel with a huge cast through several generations in a fascinating manner that holds one's interest without confusion. We are perfectly able to differentiate between characters while the book is impossible to put down. I cannot think of another author with the power to plot, write, create characters, and hold the reader as Burkholz does. I have also read his "The Sensitives" about people who can read minds and it is also similarly rare, thought-provoking, and different. This book is a genuine and rare treat for both men and women readers.
One of My Favorites
I first read this book when I was in high school, and have gone back and read it at least 3 times. It follows the Prinz/Prince family through WWI and II. It is really interesting.

You'll wish you were a Sensitive
This book shows some good scenes and dialogue, and the insertion of interesting and unexpected characters makes the book fun to read. Why did this go out of print? I imagine he could have continued the series quite well.

The Death Freek
WHEN YOU THINK OF RETIRMENT , YOU DON'T THINK OF YOUR BOSSES PUTTING YOU SIX FEET UNDER. THE STEPS THESE TWO MEN HAVE TO GO THROUGHT TO GET OUT OF THEIR JOBS AS MAKERS OF UDK'S FOR THEIR RESPECTIVE GOVERNMENTS (USSR,USA). NOW IN STEAD OF MAKING UDK'S (UNUSUAL KILLING DEVICES)THEY HAVE TO USE THEM TO KILL THE AGENTS FROM EACH OTHERS GOVERNMENT (THE MAN FROM THE US GOES AFTER THE AGENT FROM THE USSR AND VICE A VRECA)AND BECOME CLOSE FRIENDS.I READ SCI/FI AND FANTASY BUT I WAS VARY IMPRESED WITH THIS WITH BOOK OF INTREG,SUSPENC AND ACTION!
Where is the sequel?
I found this book by accident. It was a great read, with only two minor flaws, which I attributed to the printers and not the writers. The twists & turns in the plot were very good, & the characters weren't perfect, just human. Much better story than Ludlum or Grisham have written. The contrasts & comparisons between the KGB & CIA were very good, showing that all government agencies are the same. I highly recommend it. Enjoy!
This book is great!!!!
I was really impressed with this book. Not expecting it to be very much, I was surprised to find I was wrong! There's so much excitement and action built into the plot, which is about two men, one from the CIA and one from the KGB who want out of the agencies. They both are experts at UKDs, unusual killing devices. They end up teaming up and plan to kill eachother's men, because that's the only way they can get away with it. All the while there's a woman, Chalice, involved. There were some really shocking parts to this story, where I had to read it twice to believe the twist the story took. I recommend this book to anyone who likes action and suspense. I found it superb.

Imaginative, Entertaining, And Different
A novel about mindreaders ("sensitives") who are assembled by the government to be used on assignments (as spies) to collect information on other individuals and foreign governments. This is an engaging read; I've never read anything quite like it. My only reason for not giving this book five stars is that I don't think the author mined enough gold from the rich lode he discovered. He could have done more fascinating things with the hero but, instead, had him playing cards for profit. Still a damn good read, though.
outstanding, innovative thriller
An outstanding introduction to the world of the Sensitives, who have the ability to "sense" the thoughts of others. Innovate thriller that blends sci-fi, espionage, and other genres together.

entertaining spy thriller
Nice follow-up to Burkholz's first sensitive book. Even though this may be the weakest of the three-book series, it's still an enjoyable, action-filled spy novel featuring the Sensitives. The Sensitives are the notable feature of the book -- blessed (or cursed?) with extraordinary ESP-like powers, they make for interesting protagonists.
