Learning about George Washington and his birthday holiday

In this juvenile biography for younger elementary students, Clyde Robert Bulla tells the "heroic and spirited story" of George Washington from his early childhood in Virginia, his army leadership during both the French & Indian as well as Revolutionary wars, and his terms of office as the first President of the United States. Young readers will learn how people all over the world have celebrated Washington's birthday throughout the years and how his birthday became a national holiday. Obviously, since Bulla wrote about "Washington's Birthday" in 1967, this was before Presidents' day effectively combined the February birthdays of Washington and Lincoln. Don Bolognese provides the illustrations for this book, which is part of the Crowell Holiday Book series. Young readers will find basic information about both George Washington and the holiday celebrating his birthday.

Simple and Adorable

The absolutely adorable illustrations are sure to capture any child's attention. I loved the book, especially the cute story line with the children and animals used to explain, in very simple terms, what a shadow is and how it is formed. Perfect for 5-6 year olds. I also think it was great that the book was rather multicultural in its illustrations, something I always look for. It would make a great read-aloud and will probably spark many questions from a youngster!

Squanto`s Journey!!!!!!!!

This book is OK but people get hurt like when Squanto and some other men were captured and thrown into a dungeon.Then they were sold as slaves! When Squanto returned to his home his family was dead!!!! At first he didn`t know but then he went to a nearby tribe and asked "where`s my family?" the tribe said 'white men bring terrible disease everyone die!!!!!!!!

Squantos gowing to the new world

Squanto is very good book.It is about an Indian who lives in a little village. He is going to the new world to see the white men. To see what they do. on the ship most of the people died on the ship.
