While these stories would shine under any conditions, the narrations of William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy actually serve to further energize the prose. I was especially moved by the performance of William Shatner. Despite having been a fan of Star Trek for decades, I was completely unprepared for the depth and the brilliance of his vocal talents. Shatner's clear insight into the stories and their characters radiates with every word and intonation.
I could not more strongly recommend either an audio book or a science fiction collection.
However Mimsy is a different animal. So I will say something about this. It is a small sci-fi story about a formula that allows you into an alternate universe that everyone used to have access to. The problem with getting there is that it requires a different paradigm and a formula. The paradigm requires a mindset that diapers as we get older and the formula is in front of us if we know where to look. An added plus is that it is read to us enthusiastically by William Shatner

I was glad to see the book mentions how not to get frustrated if a particular command doesn't exactly work as you see in the book. There are many flavors of Unix nowadays so it's very possible each version may have the command that's being talked about but it may be just a bit different.
I found a couple of commands that I hadn't heard of before (pushd and popd) so this old girl learned something too :-). I didn't give the book 5 stars because of its section on the editors available in Unix. The section on vi needed to show a few more basic commands plus maybe one or two tips. The vi editor can be hard for some because due to the structure of the commands.
Overall, the book gives a newbie good information to get their feet wet. Once a newbie gets going and wants to dig in to Unix some more, I highly recommend the OReilly "Unix In A Nutshell" book. Once you get the feel of how Unix is structured, using the Nutshell book will make more sense.

Until now.
First and important, Mr. Camarda instructions are simple, easy to follow and "by the book." Except that my computer does not always go by the book and there are no suggestions or thoughts on what to do when something doesn't match.
But the big problem is what was left out. And a great deal was. If you want to learn about "smart tags" a brand new feature and perhaps a reason why many updated from a previous version of Office, you will not find it and many other new functions, here. Instead, Mr. Camarda refers you to a web site where you can down load, through Acrobat, (you would thing he'd use "WORD) another few hundred pages that were left out of the book. It takes a long time to print this material out too.
The items in Acrobat are not included in the Book's index so good luck finding quickly what you need. For several new items you will have to look in several places to get the right information, negating the need for this book. Many book publishers are putting the contents of their books on CD's so you can use a search function to find what you want. No so here. Que also has eliminated the CD with extras they used to provide, having us go to the internet for additional materials.
If they couldn't print the entire book, the least they could have done was included on a CD, complete with search functions.
I used to buy Que books sight unseen, knowing they were among the best. That time has passed.
Also, there is barely any information on working with graphics except for clip art. Most business or technical users do not use clip art, they use imported graphics.
