NOT GOOD
If you really know your stuff this book will never come into play only for someone just getting started

Great Reference
Have been an apprentice electrician and worked in the field. When in a classroom, this book is great for refreshing your memory on a formula or to get the right formula for making the correct bend in a piece of conduit. No matter how experienced one is, it is always nice to have a small reference item such as this book. I know several Master Electricians that swear by this book.

Ugly's Electrical References
This is an extremely good reference book. It's small enough to carry and full of those little items that we need to refresh on regularly. I'm an electrical maintenance supervisor for an international company and everyone in my department has one. I also get them for our engineering staff.

The Making of Stringed Instruments: A Workshop Guide
Published in Hardcover by Batsford (1989)
Author: George Buchanan
Amazon base price: $35.90
Average review score:

A clear, but lackadaisical approach
This book is the clearest on the subject that I have read in English. In that respect, it was excellent.

On the other hand, the author is clearly not a professional. The approach presented is that of a hobbyist. For example, the cello shown in the book is made of cherry. The author suggests that this doesn't make much difference. This is simply nonsense. Some of the construction details, such a multi-piece cello neck and the use of newspaper in the joint between the belly and the ribs, are also questionable.

My advice is that if you're prepared to spend several hundred hours making an instrument that you can be proud of, get the right materials and use the right methods. If you just want a fiddle, go get one at a pawnshop.

Must read for aspiring stringed instrument makers
Written primarly for those interested in making Violins & Cellos, the book also covers making Mandolins & Guitars. I believe that readers will find that although this book covers all areas of this subject the subect itself is so complex that the book will serve only as a starting point. But for anyone who has no experance making instruments this book is an excellant place to start learning. Highly recommended.

As backwards as they come
Far from being a progressive Bull Moose, Patrick J. Buchannan is as conservative as they come.

He and his supporters were the ones who in 1992 caused my party to retake the white house because of the excesively hard line on social issues at the Houston TX national GOP convention. Because Bush Sr.'s campaign was so afraid of ailenating the religious conservative powerbase, they essentially let this group declare open season on anybody who did not fit into the traditional mold. of the ideal American.

Furthermore, Roosevelt supported women's suffrage. Judging by his retrograde concepts of women's work (no, having your sister as a campaign manager does not make you a liberated man)Buchannan also does not care about the needs of women voters. Buchannan has openly denounced the concept of abortion, birth control and the equal rights amendment because they violate his relgious beliefs---without even stoping to think how somebody else may view those things.

Buchannan's inability to realize the neccesity of a global market also renders him obsolte to the modern American system of government and politics. Because of technological advances, the question is no longer going to be "Do we have to work with people of different countries?", but rather "When are we going to work with people from different countries."

Finally a book that understands Patrick Buchanan and Co.
George Grant's work is remarkable. Finally there is a book on the shelves that understands Pat Buchanan and seeks to explain why he thinks the way he does and what it can mean for our nation. Since his amazing runs of 1992, 1996, and 2000, people have been quick on the trigger to criticize this potential Teddy Roosevelt of our time. Grant's work is an excellent one about the ever condemned, but never refuted Patrick J. Buchanan.

Our NEXT President!
It was a great book, a must read! It was a very insightful look at the man who will be the next President of the United States! All citizens of voting age should read this before the election. It was a great show at his views and why he believes the things he does. GO PAT GO!

A Critical and Exegetical Commentary: The Book of Job (Together With a New Translation)
Published in Hardcover by T&t Clark Ltd (2000)
Authors: Samuel R. Driver, Alfred Plummer, Charles Briggs, and George Buchanan Gray
Amazon base price: $39.95
Average review score:

This has dated more than Driver's other books
This was the swan song of Samuel Driver, the greatest Bible scholar of his generation. His commentaries on Samuel and Deuteronomy are still well worth reading; indeed, they are still unsurpassed in some aspects. Why is this book different? Firstly, Driver died before finishing it; most of the general commentary, and much of the "philological notes" (which occupy half the book), were by G B Gray. While he was a fine scholar, he was not quite in Driver's league. Secondly, Job is probably by far the most difficult book in the Bible to deal with. It is written in complex, allusive poetry which even Driver could not understand. In the last 80 years, a flood of new light has been cast on the Old Testament by archaeology, comparative linguistics and other disciplines. This has improved the understanding of every book, but Job has benefited far more than Deuteronomy and Samuel. Thus, while this book is by no means worthless, it has been superseded by more recent commentaries (notably "The Book of Job" and "The Book of God and Man" by Robert Gordis).
