I have read almost all of Sylvia Brownes books!!!!
That is right, I almost read all of sylvia brownes books. I think she has wisdom and comfort about the other side.I strongly agree that we do go "home", when we determine when our time here is up. I first started reading her books after my grandmother died in sept 19,99. I needed comfort and I found it. I would recommened these books to anyone who lost their loved ones. That is my opinion anyway.

my guide, myself: the psychic oddyssey of sylvia brown
I actually purchased this book at an evening with Sylvia Browne event and had it autographed! This book is a wonderful introduction to who, what and why Sylvia Browne is! Many passages from Sylvia's spirit guide, Francine, are included and have been a source of comfort for someone like myself that wasn't sure what to think about that "heaven and hell" stuff I kept hearing about growing up in a Lutheran household. After reading this book, I felt I actually "knew" Sylvia. The book strongly points out that being psychic isn't all glamour and personal appearances and TV shows. I personally know a few psychics that feel Sylvia has gone too commercial. This book goes into detail how Sylvia has become so popular world wide and that it's a good thing to share what Francine is trying to share with all of us from the other side.

I highly recommend this book for anyone wishing to explore the world of psychics and for anyone wanting information about the other side. It's a feel good book.

A unique and invaluable addition to metaphysical studies
Ably translated by Ronald Koetzsch and Anne Riegel from the original Dutch, Anthroposophy And Astrology: The Astronomical Letters Of Elisabeth Vreede is a fascinating collection of monthly subscription "letters" by Elisabeth Vreede, Ph.D. (1879-1943), a close student of Rudolf Steiner. Ms. Vreede's writings look at astronomy and classical astrology through the lens of spiritual science, and also contemplate the role of astrology in modern society. From heavenly bodies to human souls, the unified thoughts of Ms. Vreede make for a most intriguing study, particularly for faithful astrology followers. Anthroposophy And Astrology is a unique and invaluable addition to metaphysical studies reading lists and reference collections.

This sets astanderd for american lit.
I have read this book so many times, my copy is in four parts. This is a great book that anyone, and everyone should read. It is so endearing and loveable. You laugh, cry, and by the time the book is over your in love with the characters. Then you cry again because it's over. But not to fear! Then you can read Little Men, and Jo's Boys - though they're not quite as good. I really can't express how much i love this book - it is my absolute favorite, and that's saying a lot!

Practical and Prayerful
The last book published by Raymond E Brown prior to his death, it combines serious scholarship and prayerful reflection on the author of the Fourth gospel. The reader gets the feeling that Brown knew the "beloved disciple" on a personal basis. Many of the insights he shares about the community of the beloved disciple and the significance of the Fourth Gospel are profound and deeply moving. A book that is a real page turner.

Enjoy "The Other Side and Back?" You'll Enjoy This too !
After reading, enjoying and writing my review of Sylvia Browne's "The Other Side and Back" for Amazon.com, I was inspired to read this book. Her 249 page book details her interesting life and her special gift of prophecy. She describes what a psychic is, and how her life revolves around this special God given "gift." This is a gift that doesn't really make one's life easier. She tells about how her gift has helped her advise police departments searching for missing persons and criminals, and how some of her predictions helped others avoid dangerous situations. She also struggles with tragedies that she warned about, which resulted in deaths when her warnings were ignored. This book may bring comfort to believers (and some skeptics) and clarify their thinking about the present and the future. The book's 15 chapters include: A Psychic in Love, Growing Pains, Following the Blueprint, The Other Side, Haunting Expressions, Why Am I Here, Medicine and the Medium, and more. It's a very interesting read, and you might find yourself going back and reading some sections again in the future. It is thought provoking, even if you're a non-believer. The work may even make a believer of you! Whether or not you believe in psychics, knowledge is power, and you can only gain with this knowledge. Worth reading. I found it well worth the $ 10.36 price.

Even skeptics will love this
I was so sad when I finished this book, thank goodness Sylvia has written more!! What an amazing life and when you read what Sylvia has to reveal about past lives and the other side you will never feel the same about life or death again. Even if you are a skeptic you can't deny a lot of what Sylvia explains(she even has pictures of a ghost she spoke with). Everything she says rings true and makes sense. After you finish this you'll be back at the bookstore for her next book, The Other Side And Back, which is just as facinating. Don't miss this experience, you'll feel a peace and understanding that will change your life. Thank you Sylvia!!!

Adventures of a Psychic: The Fascinating Inspiring True-Life
After reading this book, I started on a new journey wanting to know more on the subject of "Gnostic Christianity". I have seen Sylvia Browne on numerous television programs and have always been facinated by her abilities. Reading this book was like reading something I already knew. I thoroughly enjoyed her writing style, finding it extremely easy to understand. This was the type of book, for me, that I had to read until I finished it; and then I wanted more. As she states in her books, "take what you need and leave the rest........". I guess I have done just that and will continue to do so. If you need some enlightment and are tired of the same old stuff in religion, this is an excellent book to get started with. It gives you the insight of who Sylvia Browne is and where she is coming from. And hopefully, like me, you will find yourself reading one book of hers after another. ENJOY!!!

what a wonderful book!
I found this novel of love and deceit an appealing tale. I recommend this book to young readers who are interested in love and deception. The quality of this writing is dramatic and striked me with interest and curiosity. The fact that young Rosamond was trying to escape from a man who she thought she knew and loved was very thrilling to me. I found myself just dying to know what is going to happen to her in the next chapter. I just couldn't put the book down. Though some parts of the text confused me in some ways, because it was written such a long time ago, I was very interested and eventually understood what was going on. Also, the way Tempest was portrayed, as a mysterious and mystifying man was brilliant. And the way Rosamond falls deeply in love with him and how much she wanted to love a man was well explained. Though the ending wasn't the happily ever after cliché, I found that Alcott wrote the book well just like the rest of her novels she has written. I find Alcott to be an amazing writer with a wonderful imagination and style.

Melodramatic, But Still Worth Reading
The title of this book clearly states the plot: an 18-year-old young woman (Rosamond Vivian) is stalked for several years by her 35-year-old ex-lover (Phillip Tempest). The story begins on a tiny island in an unknown region (England, possibly), travels halfway through Europe--from Italy to France, to name a few places--, then comes full-circle back to England(?) for the dramatic ending (which was a little disappointing, I thought). On more than one occasion, I found myself snickering at how cheesy the book was, but for an "old classic", it was pretty entertaining and shocking, especially with the type of conflict not usually seen in Alcott's work, such as bigamy, divorce, and murder--all committed by Phillip with the help of his evil servant (Baptiste), including the murder of Phillip's own son, Lito.

The book was written in August and September of 1866 and mirrored a lot of the places Alcott saw while visiting Europe in 1865. Unfortunately, "A Long Fatal Love Chase" was not published until over a century later, rejected for being "too long and too sensational"--which, in truth, it is. The editor, Kent Bicknell, took the chore of deciphering Alcott's messy handwriting and finished the book for print in the late 1990s, leaving as much of the original story intact. Overall, it turned out pretty well. I would highly recommend this book to Louisa May Alcott fans or fans of historical, romantic fiction.

Breathtakingly romantic.
Romance, thrilling adventure, and true, gut-wrenching emotion-- this novel by Louisa May Alcott pushes the envelope. Tempest: a man ruled by passion, cruelty and deceit. Rosamond: a young woman, innocent, beautiful, and strong-willed. Tempest seduces fair Rosamond (and the reader) with his devastating charm, mystery, and dangerous good looks. When Rosamond learns of Tempest's treacherous secrets, she vows to escape from his lies. Unfortunately, Tempest is intrigued and further impassioned by the chase as he promises to win her back, at all costs. Determined to break her wild spirit, Tempest succeeds in alienating Rosamond from others. Despite some slow moments, this book is overflowing with action and excitement. The chase is an interesting one and the ending is thoroughly satisfying

Interesting, but misnamed
First, this book isn't about Freud & Jung. Those two names are briefly mentionned as being totally wrong and not understanding anything. Steiner also takes the time (this is a collection of lectures) to enlighten is audience on the reason that people who disagree with him are also in error and incompetent.

This apart, this books present some of Steiner's views on spiritual psychology. I found his ideas on the unconscious to be interesting and presented in a clear way, but left me on my appetite. Maybe this can be seen as a good complement to Steiner's other books.

Bearing the test of time
Freud, Jung, & Spiritual Psychology: Selected Lectures by Rudolf Steiner is an acclaimed collection of informative and insightful lectures that he gave during the early twentieth century. Bearing the test of time, Steiner's examinations remain highly relevant to modern psychoanalysis and spirituality. Among Steiner's claims are that, because Freud did not recognize spirit, his way of thinking excluded the experience of the human soul. From reflections upon the threefold structure of human consciousness to musings on the depth of the soul, Freud, Jung, & Spiritual Psychology is a unique and highly recommended psychological perspective of the meeting of mind and spirit.

A good reference
A good reference book for anyone connected with a pension or profit sharing arrangement. It is not a guide to IRAs, Keogh plans, SEPs, rather it focuses on traditional defined contribution and defined benefit plans. While this book seems written for more for budding actuaries, those wishing to study design alternatives or asset management will find this book provides a good background. I find two flaws with the book.

First is the lack of examples. While the book discusses full funding limitations, it does not show you an example calculation. While it tells you how to calculate the minimum liability, it does not show you an example of how to present it in the financial statements. This book is not a text book, but it would be very helpful to see some real examples in practice rather than only discussions about the rationale behind the method.

Second, the single chapter on pension accounting is weak. Issues not mentioned include accounting for minimum liability, disclosures under FAS 132, understanding the relationship between funding and expense, curtailments and other plan amendments, the interrelationships between the conflicting limitations of ERISA/IRC/GAAP, the effect of pension assumptions on the financial statements and the impact of FAS 87 for an over funded plan on the financial statements of the sponsor. The perspective focuses more on the reasons the accounting standards exist, not the strategy or day-to-day issues of how the pension affects the financial statements of the sponsor. If accounting is what you need, buy a current intermediate accounting book.

Very complete yet sometimes boring: serious stuff !
Very coplete study, covering almost all imaginable subjects, from actuarial maths to investment management to organisation and HR aspects of pension provision. This is not a manual, though. Get a simpler and less in detail book to get a general view of the topic, and then use "Fundamentals..." as reference.
