Informative Faery Book
This is a great faery book, and seems to get its base root from Ireland. It has interesting and "unexplained" faery photos in the middle of the book, and some interesting encounters with faeries told inside of this book. Although I love faeries, and believe in them, I didnt like this book that much because they made faeries sound like all myths and legends.
Thoroughly enjoyable look at fairies
I really enjoyed this book on fairies. The author did an excellent job of tying in a wide variety of legends, stories, tales, myths, and unexplained phenomenon (even crop circles and UFO's get a mention). Unlike many books of this genre - there is little fantasy or frou-frou, Bord instead lays more trust in themes which commonly reoccur in fairy encounters.
In all, this is an excellent book, and it is well worth the money. I will fault the binding though, the glossy pages of photos in the book were quick to fall out and I was by no means rough with the book.
Of course there must be Fairies!
In a universe as vast as ours, with its billions of galaxies, and as ancient as ours with an age that could well be infinite, common sense ought to tell anyone that anything is possible, even Fairies.
Modern 'education,' sadly, seems bent on the production of persons with closed minds (they call it 'skepticism), and whose common sense evaporated long ago.
I've never seen a Fairy, though I would very much like to. And I take it as a very healthy sign that books such as this are still being written. Perhaps there's some hope for us yet!

Very entertaining.
If you are thinking about buying this book, do it. Very entertaining read, covers a LOT of subjects. A few minor inaccuracies here and there hardly detract from it's readability.
A Must-Read for anyone interested in the Unexplained
This book is my absolute favorite. It is well written, well documented, and very comprehensive in it's coverage of many popular subjects related to the unexplained. Whether you read it straight through or use it as a reference, it is well worth the price, and will earn a place of prominence in any library. I very strongly recommend that you check this book out!

Listing of reports N American Sightings of Bigfoot
Janet and Colin Bord are writers best know for the subject material of unsolved mysteries. They have written numerous books on different subjects such as sea serpents, black dogs, ghosts, etc. In this volume they have collected reports throughout North America of the elusive creature known as the Sasquatch. Neither of the authors are investigators, they are reporting the available sightings on this subject. Therefore, there is some para-normal events mentioned in this book as they report what was told by witnesses whether or not it's true is debatable. However the bulk of the information presented is based on the work of serious investigators such as John Green, Rene Dahinden, Peter Byrne etc. The books covers early sightings up the time the book was published in the early 1980's. At the end of the book is a chronological listing of all the reported sights they were able to amass. This book is a valuable resource for the available sightings up to about 1980-1982. Since this book is out of print, it may be difficult to find, however it is not impossible. The book is well written and enjoyable to read and an essential addition to the libarary of those interested in this area of crytozoology.
bigfoot case book

Wonderful and comprehensive look at unexplained events
The authors of this book have done a great job of gathering a comprehensive collection of unexplained events, folklore, and myths. Topics covered include the world famous Loch Ness monster, the various versions of Bigfoot, as well as lesser known oddities - such as winged cats. There is a great section devoted to poltergeists and haunted houses - they even cover the new public focus of crop circles. I also particularly enjoyed the section at the end covering hoaxes. It is a great book and easy read, full of wonderful pictures. A must have for anyone who questions the "official explanation" and wonders what really is out there.

not useful as a reference work
The title is deceptive. First, the book only covers England. Second, title should not have the word "dictionary," which it is most definitely not. I think the author genuinely made an attempt to summarize all the British stuff. However, the entries are very limited in scope and do not give you enough information for further reading. The bibliography looks interesting. Citing his reference work in each entry might have saved this book.
