The greatest thing about this publication is that you are aware of the author's opinion, but no bias exists within the material. The suggestions presented are done in such a fashion that any revolutions made will seem to be made by you, not the author. This allows for an objective analysis of your current lifestyle and some possible steps you may wish to take to improve it. I am not one who is usually enlightened or easily motivated, but I can honestly say I believe this book is an asset to all and considering the E-Book is only ($$$), you can't go wrong.

Though it was written 90 years ago, "How To Live" addresses the inadequacies, frustrations, disappointments of people today in all walks of life and it does so with humor and wisdom. A daily dose of "How To Live" is at least as nourishing for the brain and soul as a multi-vitamin for the body. Arnold Bennett created a classic of its kind, a self-help book that really helps.

It is hard to imagine that this little book could be so persuasive. I consider it a classic, and an early precusor to many others that have attempted to demonstrate how time is our own and ours to manage and expand our boundaries of our selves. In the thirty minutes it takes to read, you will be left forever vigilant, and will never sit idle, unless you consciously choose to sit idle, while you ride a train, wait for plane, or drive home from what once may have been a routine. Read it, study it, and live again.

Why do I return to 'Riceyman Steps' every six years or so? Who can resist it? Arnold Bennett has created a fascinating world, one that we as readers are privileged to enter. The basic story and characters grab you immediately; you NEED to know what will happen, you want desperately for it all to turn out well. Bennett understands how fragile we all are, and yet how our passions can drive us. His understanding of the human heart is as perfect as 'Riceyman Steps. Don't miss this one!

This is one of my favorite Bennett novels and one of the more idiosyncratic. If you ever wanted to experience the claustrophobic world of a true miser, and learn what it is like to live with one, this is your book. And it's vintage Bennett.

This is a true gem of a book.. I would give it more than 5 stars if I had a choice.. this is a delightful book about an extremely talented but painfully shy artist who is willing to go to any length to remain in the shadows.. I will not give away any of the main delight of this book, but please read it and enjoy it!!

I'm from the Five Towns, where this gem of a book is set. It's actually the Potteries, in Staffordshire, England. The book is about the life and times of Edward Henry (Denry) Machin who, by being a 'card' rises from humble beginnings to wealth and prominence.

A card is someone who's a bit of a lad, who does things no one else dares or dreams of. Denry is never cruel, never arrogant and his adventures and mishaps as he falls in love and out, manages his mother, determined to live her life in a tiny slum and becomes the most well known inhabitant of the area make for hilsarious reading. The wit is subtle, his triumphs are believable and his failures make us feel for him. Read this book. It's very, very good.

How to Make the Best of Life deals with every day problems we humans have to face.The best part is it mentions what are the problems we face and gives the methods to deal with them. It is suitable for reader of every age. You will never, I repeat, never regret after buying it.

The Human Machine contains all that stuff which a person needs to know to have smooth relations with his peers and superiors. That is to say it deals with your self!!! The author teaches you in a persuasive manner how to get along with people in todays' world and thereby avoid many of the tensions/worries which you may have to face otherwise. The book is certainly worth buying.

I found this study of Bennett's writing much more than a useful critical discussion of Modernism and Modernity. While many critical works on literature are hard going, this one is remarkably articulate, written in lively and engaging prose that made me want to go out and read everything Bennett wrote. For anyone interested in Modernism as a literary movement, this study provides a sophisticated analysis of the function of content as well as form in the modernist project. It takes on Woolf's criticism of Bennett's work as "traditional realism" in such a way that reveals him to be a much more complex and interesting writer than she gives him credit for; the short discussion of Bennett's reaction to Woolf's work is particularly telling. This is truly a worthy book.

I thought it was a pretty good book, for my purposes. It is a collection of academic like articles by different statisticians working in the area of sports modelling and each author wrote one chapter on the sport or topic of his expertise. I found it easier to read than most academic articles. All the chapters I've read so far (4 or 5) have provided me with 1 to 4 ideas that I might be able to apply to my own modelling of sporting events. So for me it was a good buy.

This is a very interesting look at Dostoyevsky by one of the writers most similar to him in temperament...

As being Russian and living in the Western world this book gave me the best explanation of the difference between east and west morals and human values.

If you read this book, you'll know why the Savoy in London serves a dish called Omelette Arnold Bennett. And although it's not one of his "important" novels, you'll also have read something light, amusing and quaint in a similar way to Grand Babylon Hotel.

This is a perfect little book; complete and magical. The warmth of Bennett's humanity glows from the pages. Innocent, funny and absolutely lovely.
