Compelling and Romantic
Pamela Belle is one historical romance writer that I would read again and again. Moon In The Water is a compelling novel of love caught up in the throes of human conflict and strife. As a writer, I was inspired and impressed by the beauty in which Moon In The Water is written. Ms. Belle's writing has a way of sweeping you back in time and holding you there.
Didn't Put it Down
This is one of the very best historical romances I have read. It is the book that got me hooked on the genre. The whole series is great!

Excellent!
This book was really good and the characters and story really capitavated my attention. The little romance between the main characters is really cute! You should read this book if you like Civil War non-fiction stuff. I hardly ever read anything, but when I started reading this, I couldn't put it down until the very last page! ^_^
Union General and "little rebel" find love
Cummings' MY REBEL BELLE is a tender love story with a meticulously researched historical background. Set during the Civil War, it is much more than a historical romance. I was touched and thrilled over and over by the feelings of the Union general for the young rebel woman. But feelings and longings for freedom of the slaves on the plantation are explored as well. All the characters come alive in this book and in so doing, history is transformed into a story as new as tomorrow. I highly recommend this book.
My Rebel Belle, a Wonderful Love Story
My Rebel Belle is better than Gone With the Wind. Characters are much more realistic and without stereotypes. All of the slaves in the story are portrayed with a great amount of dignity and intelligence. Their importance to the smooth functioning of the plantation home is always emphasized. The struggles that women and slaves faced in maintaining their homes when the men were off to war were very clear. These women struggled valiantly to keep their homes together, and this rescued union officer helped keep this family alive. Every woman who has ever dreamed of rescuing and hiding a handsome Civil War soldier will love this story. There are many interesting and humorous situations that come up throughout the story as the southern women try to conceal the officer's identity. All of the conflicts between an opinionated northern officer and a headstrong southern belle are overcome by the love that grows between them. I highly recommend this book...

An Equal Sequel
"The Chains of Fate" is a most worthy sequel to "The Moon in the Water." Rarely do I read a sequel that is as good or better than the first book. "The Chains of Fate" was awesome. I first read this book 17 years ago. I bet I have read and re-read this trilogy by Ms. Belle a hundred times. In fact my sister and I discussed reading the trilogy this summer along with all of our friends who have also read them. If you love English History, and an inveigling tale, then read this book and trilogy. Ms. Belle is truly a great wordsmith.

Excellent historical novel with wonderful characters
Just wanted to put a note in here because this book is definitely worth a read to those who enjoy historical novels. I have not read any of her works before and was suprised at how well she writes. I have enjoyed it enough to try hunting around for the second in the series!
Apart from the above it has provided a wonderful insight into the daily life of a puritan family.
Wintercombe
I have read all of Pamela Belles civil war series. Both sets are intricately woven with rich historical facts and her characters, while fictional, become real to the reader. The Wintercombe series is my favorite, as Ms. Belle can make the trials of forbidden romance during war torn England so poignant. I highly recommend any of her historical fiction books for those who love both history and romance without the sappy, unrealistic nonsence.

Lasting Magic
I first read this book at age 14, and memories of the story are still with me. It is the last in a stunning trilogy that follows a strong and endearing family in 17th Century England. The story is entertaining and beautifully written by Belle, who apparently knows and loves history, as well she knows and loves the families she has brought to life to live in this world.
