The worst Avon True Romance.
This book was the worst of all the Avon True Romances, and was the only book in the series I didn't enjoy. The characters were not realistic. Miranda was headstrong to the point of stupidity, and Shadow Walker wants revenge against the white people and that's about it. These two did not make a good couple at all. They came from two entirely different worlds. I found it impossible that they could ever have a chance of living happily ever after. Their love just wasn't realistic at all. The ending was abrupt and poorly developed. I loved the rest of the series, but this one was a huge dissapointment. I only reccomend it if you are a completist and want to read the entire series.

Likeable but short
Miranda Thurston has always been willful and stubborn but one day that leads to her capture at the hands of a renowned Cheyenne warrior named Shadow Walker. For a long time Miranda refuses to follow any orders no matter what Shadow Walker does but they eventually take a liking to each other. Much still stands in the would be couple's way especially the fact that Miranda is still Shadow Walker's captive.

This book has a few flaws but I liked it in spite of them. The beginning of the book is very rushed and Miranda isn't likeable at all in the beginning. The pacing and Miranda's characterization improve quickly though. I really enjoyed the plot of this book and I adored Shadow Walker. I felt that the animosity between the Indians and the white men was downplayed quite a bit but that is understandable considering this is a teen romance. The only thing that keeps this from being a really great book is it's length. I prefer my books to be meatier than 197 pages. Still the book is well worth your time.

Really Really Good!
I just wanted to disagree with Mary Grace on one thing in her review.Well I do agree with Mary Grace about everything until she said that Miranda's father told those two men to kill the brave who was promised to be free for her safe return. Because Hill and the other guy are plannig on killing Red Shirt and .....
Read the book to find out who the other person/people is.

REALLY GOOD BOOK!

Interesting magical tale; lacks 'oomph.' 3&1/2 stars.
Once upon a time, in the fantasy world of Orem, the power-hungry House of Rall challenged the benevolent rule of the House of Neer--and won. Sera is the "Spirit-of-Neer-confined-in-flame" reborn. To fulfill the Prophecy, she must join forces with Tolin of Rall--also known as the hated 'Death's Shadow' to the followers of Neer.

Overall the story was okay, but I found Serbaak's role just way too pat. I also don't get how Sera is suddenly 'in love' with Tolin when all he'd shown her so far were angry nonexplanations for his actions & callous disregard for her concerns.

Another complaint is that EB refers to the place as the two 'worlds' of Orem. HA! Two 'countries' is more like it--they are called by the (unimaginative) names of Orem Proper & Orem Minor.

Also recommended: the fantasy worlds of Madeline Baker's "Beneath a Midnight Moon" & "Warrior's Lady."

Great Romantic Fantasy!!
Dance of the Flame is an excellent example of a romantic fantasy - beautiful and heroic heroine, handsome hero, and a lot of magic. I recommend this book very highly, as it combines two fun genres into one wonderful read!

"Nice" story but could have been better written.
I did enjoy reading this book but it did not have the intensity and detail that I would have expected. I found myself wanting to just finish it and move on to my next book.

Hawk is a page turner
This is the first Elaine Barbieri book that I have read...And I will be reading many more in the future! From the very first page, she draws you right in. I am especially fond of Indian Romances, and the story of Kyle(Hawk) and Eden will not dissappoint, if you are as well. They meet when they are young and fall in love, and they meet again five years later. Barbieri is not a gutless romance author...not one of those who's afraid to separate the characters from eachother/allow them to hate eachother...their problems do not get solved in 5 pages. Some authors are afraid to do this, and thier books are not very interesting. Instead, she keeps you hanging throughout the book, wanting them to be together in the end. Barbieri is right up there with Georgina Gentry and Madeline Baker. If you enjoy their books, you'll enjoy Hawk as well. A great read. Worth the money.

Ms. Barieri's wrighting in this book was very good .
Mallory headed west for a storry for her fathers newspaper. With her spirit & her warriors heart found the courage to follow her heart. Again this story has shown the injustices of the native American people.. Very good Ms. Barbieri Thanks from Dorothy in Ingleside ,TX.

quite good, a vivid description of the life of cowpeople
I think it well depicts the strong will of the herino, who determines to find her missing mother and brother before she goes for the trial of murdering the wicked ranch owner. The hero of the story also shares strong will and it makes a good pair. enjoyable.

A Timeless Story
The story starts during Medievel times and ending in the present day. All the stories revolve around this one book, a love story written when books were rare and costly. This book brings couples together...they love the love story. Some of the stories don't flow as well as others. hence only the four stars. Overall a really wonderful book, makes you laugh and it makes you cry.

Loved this book
I couldn't put this book down and stayed up late to finish it. Again Elaine Barbieri made you feel for the charachters in her book. I liked the personal struggles each person in her book had to deal with, especially Edwina and Night Ravens. I was sorry when i finished the book, I wanted more.

Good!
More Precious Than Gold was a good audiobook, it is from romance book author Elaine Barbieri, I wouldn't say it's a fantastic romance story but it was good and the character's Carolina and Drake were good. I listened to the audiobook and If I saw the regular book in a used book store I might buy it and read it but it's not a must have book!

Alright, but it's not a keeper!
It was alright I guess but I've listened to better and it's not a keeper at all, well at least in my opinion it isn't!

loves' fiery jewel
ive been a avid reader for many years.. but this is the worst book i have EVER READ .THIS MAN?? is sick and should be in a mental ward.. Not only does he rape and drug this CHILD. but he kidnaps and physically/mentally abuses her as well .. this BOOK is SICK !
" LOVE'S FIERY JEWEL" THIS IS NOT LOVE!!!!!.

A Chore Rather Than a Pleasure to Read
Since childhood, Amethyst Greer's life has consisted of caring for her sickly mother and performing with a theater troupe. But when the troupe leaves America for Jamaica aboard Damien Straith's ship, the Sally, Amethyst's life is forever changed.

As she grows into young womanhood in Jamaica, it falls to Amethyst to provide for her ailing mother. And she finds she must face Damien, whom she has never forgiven for his earlier treatment of her, and ask a favor. One that will prolong her mother's life and leave Amethyst and Damien's lives forever intertwined.

With the loss of her mother, Amethyst is comforted but the wealthy plantation owner's son she intends to marry - until Damien arrives on the island once more and announces that Amethyst will not be marrying William because she belongs to him.

With Amethyst aboard ship as his mistress, Damien sets sail for America and the life waiting for him there. But Amethyst's heart still aches for Jamaica and William. Can Damien and Amethyst put aside pride, anger, and past hurt to forge a harmonious union or will Amethyst, a soiled woman, be cast out penniless from the man who ruined her?

"Love's Fiery Jewel" was a chore rather than a pleasure to read. The characters in this novel are motivated by anger, arrogance, and spite and their relationship falters in this quagmire of negativity. Damien and Amethyst cannot convince one another of their love - and they don't convince the reader, either. Pass on this one!

Wonderful romance
I have been reading romance books for over 20 years and I have to say that this book is one of the best. Elaine Barbieri has the ability to provide conflict between the two main characters, Amethyst and Damien, resulting in a spellbinding, page turning plot. Damien's character is chauvanistic, but we can forgive him because he is seeping with male vitality. As the characters move from Philidelphia to Jamacia, we experience all the details from climate to clothing and we feel we are there too. If you like historical romance, this book won't disappoint you.
