I cannot count the number of times I checked this book out as a child. I had forgotten all about it until I had children of my own. This book is a classic to me, as I'm sure it will be to anyone who reads it. It is a timeless tale of magic that is sure to enchant readers of any age. I buy this for gift-giving to little relatives and friends. The response has been remarkable. A definite must for any bookshelf!

I have wonderful memories of checking this book out of my school library in 1st grade - every week! Then when I was 13 I found it once again in a Christian bookstore on vacation in Tennesee. After a move my softcover copy was water damaged - I have been searching for years for a copy. This book is a must if you have a child - I am almost 30 and still remember the pictures and story in great detail. I look forward to reading this to my children someday.

I always checked out Lorna Balian books at the library when I was little; she was my favoritest author ever, and still is. I love the little guy and I've always empathized with the little girl. I want this book for my kids if I have any, and in the meantime for my friends' kids.

This book is expecially good for younger kids, such as kindergartners or first or second graders. It is also a good book for kids younger then kindergartens. It is a really funny book about a witch that cannot do spells and when she tried to turn her cat into a candy bar he gets sick.

I read this book to 42 classes of 3, 4, and five year olds over the years and some grandchildren. I'm so happy to have found it again!
It's a great story to explore the scary parts of Halloween with small children and the story line, with Fred, the cat, is attention keeping.

We all loved this charming, cute, funny book, from Daddy down to our two year old. The illustrations are clever and the surprise ending makes this a memorable Halloween read aloud. This should become a classic.

This was my favorite book growing up. I have bought numerous copies for all my friends children.

My children loved this book. Now I use it in my classroom when we do descriptive writing. I have a couple of Aminals of my own, half the class looks at them and describes them to a partner who draws what they must look like. Just like in the story, it's amazing to compare the imaginative concept to the real aminal. This story teaches so much about human nature in such a wonderful, imaginative way.

This is a great childrens book to inspire the young childs imagination. I have used this book many times in the classroom. The response on the childrens faces as they imagine what he (The Aminal) looks like, is wonderful. You can almost see their brains working on overtime in the imagination zone. One thing I usally do just before The Aminals looks are revealed is stop the story and have the children draw a picture of what they think The Aminal looks like. The response is great! They want to tell you why they think he looks like their drawing and usally about what they remember of the story. This is a great story for building comprehension skills and teaching children about rumors and gossip. An amazing surprise is awaiting you and your child at the end of The Aminal.

I grew up reading this book and would look forward to Easter especially so that I could read it. The colors always fascinated me, and the dual story line always hooked me. When I finally grew up, I bought it and have been reading it to kids since then!

I began reading this book to my five children almost 25 years ago. The older ones would listen while I read to the younger ones. Now I read it to my grandson and he loves it as much as the others. It's a wonderful book to read aloud and an equally wonderful book for children to explore themselves. The illustrations take many "looks" before you see everything. It's kept the children in our family engrossed (and quiet) on long car trips for a long time.

My family has owned this book for many years, and we've worn it out. Ms. Balain has written a sweet story in several "layers". The illustrations are just perfect and so detailed. We've loved watching the flowers grow and the birds build their nest and wait for their family to hatch as we turn the pages. All of this in addition to the story of the Rabbit Family below ground and Granny and her grandchildren above ground. You'll love it, too. "The mouse told me so."

I have been searching for this book! My children and I used to check this out of the library every Christmas for over 5 years! My daughter, Nicole, would laugh about the big brother--and her big brother, Rob, would act just like him. Nicole and Rob were excited about me trying to find this book, even though they are going to be 21 and 25 respectively. These books are for everyone, children and adults alike. Buy it for all your favorite people!

This was a gift and became my first Lorna Ballian book. She is my favorite children's author. I read it to my children many, many times and now have to read it to my second graders. Just like my own children, they say, " Read it again!". Like many of Lorna Ballian's books, another story is going on in the illustrations.Watch that bear! Children love those tricks she plays in the illustrations!

This is one of my VERY FAVORITE children's books. I love the story and colorful illustrations. My husband and I could be fitting examples of Mr. & Mrs. O'Leary, the couple in this story. It is a wonderful story to explicit the seasons to young children. I read it each year to 1st graders. The groundhog is such a adorable and cunning character...Ms. Balian does a sensational job with every book she writes..I only wish there were more of her books!

I am a fan of Ms. Balian's books. This book is especially good for the fact that it gives a story that can be used in preschools and primary grades to teach about ground hog day, but also the telling of the seasons. I love the facial features of the ground hog. Worth reading again and again.

This book is a precious story with beautiful pictures. Each page is delightful and very amusing! An absolutely wonderful Thanksgiving story with a twist. I first read it to my children 12 years ago and have searched for a copy for our home for a long time. I have never found it in a bookstore and am thrilled to find it here.

This is a wonderful book about a turkey coming to "Thanksgiving dinner". A great book for elementary children and teachers. A must read to students during Thanksgiving.

When I saw this title I just had to look at it as my mother's name is Mary Jane and I just know after the last year or so I need to tell her more how much I do Love her. Even if this book is about a dog I just know in her heart she will know what I mean. Plus she has a dog she loves with all her heart.

Leprechaun's Never Lie is a delightful children's story about a lazy girl, her poor grandmother, and a clever leprechaun. Along the way to retrieve the pot of gold, the girl learns a lesson about what is important. The book ends with a clever twist and it is almost impossible to read without going into an Irish lilt.
