Gracefully explores an important area of Washington's life
The book is a finally written, well reserched study of Washington's agricultural endeavors. As a careful examiner of Washington's life, I can tell you that the Fusonies' rpovided a much needed study of an aspect of Washington's life that was important not only to himself, but to the planter society he lived in. This book's careful study of Washington provides a better synopsis of the role of agriculture in molding the Virginia society that produces many of the leaders of the Revolution than more well-known books such as, Tobacco Culture by T.H. Breen

Another Great Little Rabbit Book!
My kids love Gray Rabbit, the illustrations are so vivid. My two year old and four year old love to find the "wrong thing" as rabbit organizes his toys. We just got it yesterday and have already read it at least half a dozen times.

A Fantastic Introduction
I can still remember reading this book as a child, gazing at the pictures and dreaming of far-off Britannia. It was the book that led me to fall in love with the legend of King Arthur, a slight obsession of mine that has brought me to such great books as The Dragon and the Unicorn and the Pendragon Cycle. This book is fantastic for anyone who would like to start learning the legends of the Round Table, Merlin, Guinevere and Lancelot, and of course the once and future king himself, Arthur.

Perfect for toddlers!
Alan Baker's artwork is great -- the rabbits are adorable, the flowers beautiful. The pictures are big and uncluttered. It's pleasant to read again and again and again and ...well, you know how toddlers are with favorite books! Best of all, though, are the BIG flaps children can lift to find a barking dog, meowing cat, etc. My 18mo. old laughs with delight as she finds the animals on each page. These flaps were made with toddlers in mind -- they're not inset in the page (which would make the hard to grasp). It's a sturdy book, too. We're on child #2 reading it at our house, and all the flaps are still intact. Amazing.

Wonderful book that teaches, in an interactive way, timekeeping to a child in a fun way. The sample clocks in text show digital and analog time. I highly recommend it!

A great first book and game combination
My daughter is 2 1/2 years old and this book has become one of her favorites. Aside from pointing to the pictures and naming the objects, we play some of the games suggested by the book. She enjoys looking for the animals or objects that I name for her or telling me what sounds the animals make. As she gets older, I think this book will be a nice companion for early writing and spelling exercises. With a little imagination, this book can be a highly versatile part of any child's library.

3-year old son loves this book!
We couldn't put this book down! The illustrations are excellent...there are hidden woodfairies to find on each page. Lots of Halloween ghosts and goblins, witches and creatures. Not scary, in fact, teaches you that things may not always be what they seem...or are they. Great book for Halloween fanatics, like my son.

This book is yet another example of her gift for words, through simple yet deeply profound lyric she says more, expresses more, shows more than others who toil for months even years to write a Children's book and still don't measure up to her talent. (When you got it you got it)
The illustrations depicting a caterpillar's metamorphosis is appropriate with it's metaphysical imagery. Illustrator Allan Baker captures the magic of these classic lyrics beautifully.
Why not for children? Life & Love & all of the above, as a critic I argue that children are multi-dimentional and capable of appreciating the spontaneity & playful rhymes that make this book a welcome addition to any child's (or adult for that matter) home library.
"Bows and flows of angel hair and ice cream castles in the air and feathered canyons everywhere, I've looked at clouds that way."
This book is a visual treat and a treasure for any fan of Ms. Mitchell. If you haven't come to appreciate her songs/writing, get this book and see why her style has been refered to as "A Lyrical Miracle!" Finally a kid's title with substance.
