Nice comparison of different types of characters
Way upstream is a book which is to present a miniature of society. Four people are going on a boat trip although they don't get along quite well with each other. And their relationship gets worse and worse when two other people get on the boat. The one of them, Vince, wants to seize the command on the boat with all means from Keith, the 'leader' of the four. So there is a conflict in the story but it is written in a funny way and that made it interesting for me. I liked the sudden changes of the story (e.g. the transformation of Alistair, a rather quiet character into the leader of the boat) and I also think it's interesting to see how people can get mad when they are given the possibility to reach power. The different characters on the boat are easy to analyse, so it is not that different to read. But it may have been useful for me to have watched the play or the film because I would have liked to compare the production of the play on stage to the author's intentions.

Instructive story with a psychological subject

The book was easy to read and an interesting experience for me. It's an exciting story, which describes the problems and the sorrow of lonely children and their busy, blind parents.
This instructive book helps to understand kids, who feel alone and haven't got a good friend to talk to. It also grants you a look at their lonely souls. The story suggests you to think about psychological things. But it still contains some funny scenes.

very amusing
My opinion about this book is very good because the book was interesting and it has some psychological aspects. I think many children have an invisible friend and so it is really a subject to write about it.
In the beginning I thought that I knew the end of the story but it developed in another way. The book is thrilling and you can read it very fast.

Time of My Life

Not Worth My Time.
This play is depressing, sad, and meaningless. I enjoyed reading it for the style in which it is written (the play progresses backward) and some of the staging techniques are rather interesting. The theme of the play boils down to that the most precious moments in our lives are the one we don't even realize. That theme is an important one, but is overused so much it has lost much of it's impact. Still, when used correctly, it's a profound and ephipanical message. However, when used as it often is, such as in TIME OF MY LIFE, it feels pasted on and fake. Read the play if you wish, but it's really not worth the time.

Awesome!
Another Ayckbourn triumph. Not as amazing as Communicating Doors, but then again few plays are as amazing as Communicating Doors. Its funny, the style is great and the technique is impecable.
