A great adventure book with lots of new information
This books has great information on the Moon and Mars, some of the moon stuff isn't in Luna Rising. It also has more stuff on Aberrants. More technology, hard and bio, and even some other. It provides a good starting place for beggining GMs and even players. It also gives a good look into peoples lives on other planets, and psion interraction. Not a must have, but very usefull. It gives lots of ideas for games.

An interesting begining for a great storyline.
Even better that the player's guide. With the full color illustrations and dazzling page layouts this is a must ready for any Sci-Fi fan. (And be sure to check out the inside back cover. ;-)

A good conclusion to the Darkness Revealed series
The book contains two adventures: Heaven Through Iron Gates and Climbing to Tartarus. Both adventures have separate color sections with in-character info to the players. Thankfully, unlike some adventures of the Darkness Revealed series, there are no spoilers in this in-character section. Both adventures can be played independently from the rest of the series, but they'll be much more satisfactory as a conclusion to the Darkness Revealed story arc. Apart from the adventures, there's also some setting info on the extrasolar colonies, North America and Africa.

It's difficult to describe the book without giving out spoilers. Both adventures have a very epic feel (especially Climbing to Tartarus), and, should the characters end them, they'll probably become very popular and influential. Both adventures introduce significant changes to the Trinity universe, no matter how they're concluded.

Resuming, a very solid book. If you like epic space opera, you'll love Ascent to Light.

A Helpful Book with Some Problems
Andrew, et al have written a helpful book for those interested in learning how to conduct a child custody evaluation. The reservation I would offer is that they have made some unconventional recommendations that are not identified as such. For example, the authors advise against interviewing children younger than teenage. This is inconsistent with the practice of most experienced, custody evaluators. I believe this and other, unconventional procedural recommendations that the authors make should be clearly identified as such, especially in a book that is subtitled "Reducing Risks of Ethical Infractions and Malpractice". With this reservation, the book is a useful addition to the references guiding those who perform child custody evaluations.

In the Eye of the Beholder: The Science of Face Perception

Perception introduced smartly, fascinatingly.
Authors Bruce and Young introduce aspects of the science of perception with reference to works of art. The book is a delight to read, and almost as much fun to browse, because the numerous images lead the browser to puzzle over the demonstrated twists of perception. The authors take appropriate, detailed steps in explaining the physical and psychological path of seeing. Additionally, they show us the importance of totally contemporary, computer tools used in the exploration of human perception.

I found In the Eye of the Beholder in the library, read it almost without putting it down, and had to buy a copy for myself. I will certainly be showing it to my students in drawing and painting.

A full force to save the Earth
In the world of Trinity, the Earth is treatened by various forces: the alien Chromatics, the all powerful and lunatic Aberrants and the crossbreeding Coalition. The Earth has the Psionic orders, humans with great but sometimes limited powers. This book tell us about one of the orders: The Legions. Like an armada of soldiers but with the ability to use their mind with the gift of Psychokinesis. This discipline devides in 3 branches: Pyrokinesis, Cryokinesis and Telekinesis. In the book they explain how the Psion uses this powers and the full structure about the order. Besides being an Order book, it explain us about Australia, the Legion's homebase. From political conflicts to local lifestyles, this book tells us what we need to run a chronicle on Australia. A good book, worth a look.

Cap
Artwork is not the best. Cannot be compared to that of The Best of Spiderman Hardcover.

I enjoyed this very much
This was a nice collection of stories. I especially enjoyed Evan Dorkin's humorous contribution. The reprints were unecessary. Any Cap collector worth his salt has them already. Why not give us two more original stories? Or if you MUST reprint something, why not reprint Joe Simon/Jack Kirby's original Cap stories? Or some 40's or 50's stories we've rarely seen?

The original stories here, however, are stellar. Worth the asking price for a nice hardcover.

Not a begginers book
I purchased this book from Amozon, attempted to read the first 3 chapters and returned it all within 24 hours. The writting is very unclear and I had a hard time following the topics. It was difficult to tell what they wanted us to try and what they were they were trying to explain. Maybey somebody with a few more years of experience in Visual Basic may have found this book usefull, but if you are new to VB, I strongly recomend against it.

Not all that good
This book is a bit too convoluted and indirect about the things it must cover in order to make you an effective VB5 ActiveX programmer. I've seen it done much more efficiently. I got two thirds of the way through it and had to lay it down.

Applied Wavelet Analysis With S-Plus

Good book, if you have S-plus and authors' wavelet toolkit
A nice treatment of data analysis using wavelets. Very nonmathematical and intended to be used while seated at the computer. I was a little disappointed to see that it was so tightly bound to the authors' commercial S+Wavelets software, which seems to render it pretty much useless if you or your institution doesn't have S-plus and S+Wavelets. (R implementation, anyone?)

Cool comic Writers Do Spiderman One-shots
Tangled Web is a great concept. Cool writers get to do Spiderman related stories. Volume 1 has some of the best stories including Flowers For Rhino (Rhino becomes super smart) and Severance Package(which shows what happens to one of Kingpin's lieutenants after Spiderman messes up an operation). Sadly, as a whole, the series is uneven.

This edition of Tangled Web is volume III. I cannot attest to the goodness of this volume because i have not read all the issues it collects, but it contains my favorite issue of Tangled Web, #13 which features a villain bar populated by Doc Oc, Matador, Stiltman, and Whirlwind. The story centers around a Mystery Man, The Vulture, and Kraven meeting in a bar and swapping stories. The Vulture/Kraven dynamic is hilarious but the last two pages of the story would stun any spiderman fan. I don't want to spoil it, so just find the back issue or buy this book.
