Great overview!
This is a great book. Mr.Krieger gives you the history of how foreign currency trading came about. He also provides you insight into how curreny trading work and more importantly how it fails.

He doesn't give specific strategies on how to trade currencies, but he does introduce vocabulary and resources to help you get started. In that respect the book is out of date. There is no discussion on the internet and how that has changed the face of currency trading forever.

This is a good book, a foreign exchange classic that wouldn't hurt any currency trader if he kept a copy on his shelf.

A Fine Introduction to the Shakers
The Shakers were a religious group founded in England and transplanted to America in Colonial Times. Their aim was to live a "simple" life. They founded numerous villages throughout New England, where they shared a communal existence based on farming, carpentry, and furniture-making. Today the Shakers are virtually extinct but they are best-remembered for their distinctive furniture.

Edward D. Andrews was an authority on the Shakers and he wrote several books on these fascinating people. This one is a good place to start your study. Then move into his "Work & Worship Among the Shakers," before getting into books by other authors on the subject.

Deming tells the interesting story of the Shakers, and makes you wish there were still some Shaker villages to visit. But alas, they're all gone, victims of the Modern World! Deming's books are the next best thing!

Prince Andrew and Prince Edward

This is mainly a picture book with each picture explained.
Prince Andrew was born on February 19, 1961; while Prince Edward was born on March 10, l964. Each of them was born at Buckingham Palace. Both of them led rather secluded lives for a time.

Prince Andrew was the first child to be born to a reigning monarch in one hundred and three years, and the first to be named Andrew in five hundred years. This book begins with the birth of Prince Andrew and ends in 1979.

Prince Edward appeared in public for the first time in 1965 after the Trooping of the Colour Ceremony when his mother held him up for the public to see. Both of the boys were taught to ride a horse at the age of two by their mother. Both the princes were christened in the Music Room which overlooks the gardens at Buckingham Palace. Each of the ceremonies was conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, and each of them wore the christening robe of Honiton lace designed for the baptism of Quenn Victoria's children. Prince Charles and Princess Anne, also, wore the same christening robe.

A break was made in the education when Prince Andrew attended Heatherdown breaking a tradition established by his father and Prince Charles of attending Cheam School in Surrey; however, he later followed their example and attended Gordonstoun in Scotland. By the time, Prince Andrew was sent to Scotland in 1973, he found that the school was partly co-educational. His education was a much more relaxed atmosphere and, unlike Prince Charles, he enjoyed his time there, and did well academically.

During his time at Gordonstoun, Prince Charles spent six months in Australia, at Timbertop. Prince Andrew had a similar break from school in Britain, spending six months at Lakefield College,Torono in Ontario where his meeting with the Canadians was an immense success. Prince Andrew began his public duties at the Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976. He cheered on his sister, Princess Anne, who was competing in the Equestrian Events as part of the British team.

In September of 1979, Prince Andrew followed in the steps of his elder brother, his father, his grandfather, and his great-grandfather and joined the Royal Naval College at Dartmouth as a Midshipman to begin his career in the Royal Navy. At this time,he is still undecided on what he will do, but, regardless, of what he decides to do he will do it with his usual characteristic enthusiasm and vigor.

Prince Edward followed Prince Andrew to Heatherdown, and, then, he went to Gordonstoun as his older brothers and father had done. He, also, attended the Olympic Games in Montreal but played a much less prominent role than Prince Andrew. Gradually, Prince Andrew took on more and more royal duties and was an extremely popular young prince at many functions during the Queen's Jubilee in 1977; Prince Edward is still a school boy who reveals no plans for the future and is very sensitive.

The Queen is shown on almost every page holding either Prince Andrew or Prince Edward. There is a most charming picture of Prince Andrew holding and hugging Prince Edward in the Music Room at Buckingham Palace. There is even a picture of the Queen with Prince Edward and one of her corgis. The Queen was the first to introduce the breed of Corgi dogs into the family when she was a child.

The book had mainly pictures of the two younger princes - one,I especially like, is of Princes Andrew and Edward playing hide and seek in the palace. Also, there is one of Prince Charles and Prince Edward arriving at the Montreal Olympics in 1976. Several pictures are included of the entire family - the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, and the four children.

The book takes Princes Andrew and Edward from infancy through 1979 in pictures. Each picture is thoroughly explained. On page 56, there is a handsome portrait of Prince Andrew and Prince Edward taken together in l975; on page 57, there is a serious study of Prince Edward in 1975, a serious study of Prince Andrew taken in 1975, and a handsome portrait of Prince Andrew taken on his eighteenth birthday when he is seated at his desk.

Some place in the book there is a picture of the Queen and her three sons which is quiet nice.

This refers to the hardcover edition. 64 pages

A challenging and uplifting read!
If you work in the field of Child Protection/Family Services and feel discouraged and/or burned out, this is a must read. I read it on vacation last week, I could not put it down! It is well written and provides lots of case examples. The material is especially appealing and accessible if one is familiar with Solution Focused Brief Therapy principles. Bravo and well done to the authors!

One of the best books I've ever read!!
I can't believe this one hasn't been reviewed yet! It's one of the best books I've ever read.

It is the biography of Spencer W Kimball, from his birth to about 1977, written by his son Edward Kimball.

Spencer Kimball was an Apostle and Prophet in the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints. His life was one of hard work and much hardship. During his time as an Apostle (and later as Prophet) he had constant, and recurring health problems. One of the most serious of the recurring problems was heart problems.

One of the lessons that I learned by reading this book was the value of being totally committed to the Lord, no matter what difficulties arise.

I have grown to HATE this book!!!
I have read this book at least once a day for the past year. I HATE IT! My son loves it. He is 2.5 now, but dumpy was one of his first vocab words. This is not a modern book, but a slow paced family oriented view of life as it was/ought to be. Be prepared to be animated and read with lots of noises. The whole collection is full of them. Thanks to these books, my son can tell the difference between a backhoe and a bulldozer and a rooster and a chicken.

Refreshing alternative to glitzy materialism and violence
Dumpy and its sequels tell the story of a seemingly abandoned truck that is discovered, refurbished, and given a new life. It is such a delightful parable about objects discarded in haste and a metaphor for what people may do to each other. The story is the begining of a collaboration between actress/singer Julie Andrews Edwards and daughter Emma Kate Walton Hamilton. Emma Kate's father, Tony Walton, is the ilustrator.

I trust this will be the beginning of a long collaborative effort.

A Sweet, Gentle Story
As the story begins, everyone is hard at work on Merryhill Farm...Bee-Bee the Backhoe, Trundle the Tractor. Everyone, that is except Dumpy. He's old, rusty and broken and stuck in the tall grass behind the barn. There are birds and mice living in the stuffing of his leather seats and it looks like his work days at Merryhill Farm are over. Farmer Barnes is planning on having him towed away to make room for a new and bigger barn and this makes his son, Charlie sad. "It's so sad to get rid of something you love just to make room for something new." His grandfather, Pop-Up agrees and they hatch a plan to save Dumpy. First they pull him out of the tall weeds and clean him up. They scrub and polish, mend and paint, get him new tires and then go to work on the engine. And in no time, Dumpy's better than ever, looking good and back to work, helping to raise the new barn..... Julie Andrews and her daughter, Emma Hamilton have written a charming, endearing story about love, teamwork and purpose that will delight youngsters aged 3-7. Their gentle text, full of imagery and sound effects, is complimented by Tony Walton's colorful and expressive artwork and together, they have authored a story with the subtle message that big and new isn't always better. Dumpy the Dump Truck is the first in what should be a wonderful new series, that you little ones are sure to enjoy.

One of the Best but Intensive Texts
It might not have lush photos and graphics, yet this revised printing version of "Introduction to Organic Chemistry" remains one of the most authoritative text for introductory level.

Readers are assumed solid mastery of one year of general chemistry since the coverage on electronic structure and bonding is succinct. Readers should be able to draw Lewis dot structures and identify the major resonance structures from all resonance structures, etc.

Two separate chapters discuss respectively organic structures and chapter reactions, who incorporate the simple chemistry of alkanes (hydrocarbons). Stereoisomerism is introduced early in the text so students can grasp this important concept and the consequence on reactions, reactivity and distribution of products.

Discussion on nucleophilic substitution reaction is somewhat obscure that might requires a few readings in order to grasp the idea. Discussion on various functional groups (alkenes, alkynes, nitriles, ketones, enol, carboxylic acids, carboxylic derivatives) are very detailed and problems focus on multistep organic synthesis.

Information on spectroscopy (NMR spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, etc) might not be comparable to a text that devotes to these spectroscopy topics, but students will learn the gist and essence of using these techniques in determining organic structures.

What makes this text distinguish itself from others are the chapters on hetero atoms like phosphorus, sulfur, and silicon. Another chapter is devoted to difunctional compounds which are siginificant intermediates and starting points for synthesis. Discussion on biological macromolecules like carbohydrates, amino acids, proteins are also included. Readers will also find the door to advanced topics such as aromatic halides, phenols, phenyl ethers, polycyclic aromatic compounds, and heterocyclic compounds.

Overall the information presented here is very detailed and geared toward advanced study and research. This is highly recommended for serious chemisty students. Excellent problems. Highly recommended.

Perfect Text and Reference for Chemists and Chem Students
This is a very hard-core and detailed treatment of the subject of organic chemistry. Ideal for chemistry majors, this book has served as a refresher for me as a professional chemist. The book assumed mastery over general chemistry and the prerequisites of chemical structure and bonding. Practice problems are only to help develop further insight and application of the chemistry presented.

Very clear and comprehensive
I used the 2nd Edition, 1981 for my undergraduate chemistry course. It had copious and well presented data on organic chemistry, as well as introductory material on spectroscopy and biochemistry. Presumably the newer editions are even better.

I ended up specialising in physical chemistry/spectroscopy rather than organic chemistry, but this is no reflection on this fine textbook.

Very interesting and filled with suspense
Read the book, it was great, saw the movie and it was good, but nothing compared to the book.... In the book, Terrorists seize Air Force One with the president, the first lady, their thirteen-year-old daughter, and more than fifty staff members.

The terrorists threaten to execute a hostage every thirty minutes if their demands are not met. Washington has a NO HOSTAGE policy and they refuse to give in to the terrorists demands. The suspense escalates from there... The president is left to protect his family with the help of some of his staff.

This is great reading material. I read it while on a nine hour flight, so that made it more intense...

One of the best novelizations I've read
Sometimes I wonder why Max Allan Collins doesn't write the scripts of the films he novelizes. His entries in the genre, including In the Line of Fire and Dick Tracy, often have better dialogue and more fleshed out characters than the films themselves (though in the character department, you couldn't really improve on In the Line of Fire). His novel Air Force One is the book the movie should have been based on. I really enjoyed the film, but, having read this fine book, I think I would have believed the film more if it was, I don't know, more like the novel! As you read the book, you'll discover there are scenes and dialogue you wish were in the film (the sequence where President James Marshall drinks a beer before takeoff becomes a funny discourse with his aides over the political mileage the President could get from drinking Russian beer as opposed to Heineken), and best of all, the characters and there motivations are a good deal more believable, somehow, on the printed page than on the silver screen, maybe because a writer can just write things as exposition that a screenwriter can't put effectively into dialogue. I've always enjoyed Mr. Collins' work, especially his series of historical mysteries about private eye Nathan Heller, and this is a great addition to his body of work. Most of the people I know would think themselves above movie novelizations, but this one is a terrific book anybody'd be glad to have read. I know I was.

This author's best work to date.
If you enjoyed other great books by Collins and havent tried this well written book. Do yourself a favor and grab a copy. I read it before I saw the movie. A greay story from beginning to end.
