This book deals with information which can be hard to acquire. The contemporary medical establishment is well entrenched in its ways, but we all "know" there are other therapies and cures out there, but where do we find out about them? This book is the answer!
"Alternative Medicine" does not endeavor to go into full detail about any of the therapies and treatments presented. Rather, it provides a valuable starting point at which to begin your serach for information on how to cure yourself or a loved one.
I heartily recommend this book to anyone who needs a comprehensive reference volume for medical maladies and their cures.

I think, though, that this will be relatively difficult for a person new to wine to use. If you're looking at a Ruffino Chianti, you look up Ruffino. Its brief notes about Ruffino don't indicate if this is a good or bad winery. You then move to the Chianti section and find out what a Chianti is, but now you are given general notes about which years are good. The years are just listed - you can't tell which are better than others.
If the book had even a general rating for each winery, and more details about the vintages, I think this would be excellent. Maybe a future edition will include this information.

I took it on a business trip and could not put it down. I was familiar with many of the places mentioned, I love geo-political suspence books, and it was clean.
Around 1988, I was going out to Southern Utah quite often for work to test a new ejection seat for aircraft. We spent quite a bit of time at an old World War II era secret test facility called Hurricane Mesa, now privately owned. During many hours of "dead time" I enjoyed walking around the plateau looking at various relics, both the successes and failures of yesterdays high technology. This place would have been very impressive back then and still is today. The road leading to the mesa is not marked and there is no reason to think anything would even exist up there. As the author did, I too can easily visualize a secret Soviet military group utilizing this mesa and one of the surrounding canyons.
With the newly elected majority of communists in Russia now, you have to wonder if many the authors fictional events have some truth to them.
I'm anxious for the next title by Tim Andersen!
