Good intentions, not-so-good results
Besides the lack of fact-checking mentioned above, I was bothered by the lack of basic writing skills Webb displays. The occasional misplaced apostrophe I can ignore, but this book is rife with mistakes, the most annoying of them being the author's habit of using incomplete sentences.

However, if you're not bothered by that sort of thing, this book is a quick and interesting (if not particularly accurate) read.

Okay But Error Filled
Adam Webb has done a good thing by bringing attention to Dennis Wilson's wonderful music. But this book needed some decent editing and fact checking in a big way. Webb continually makes mistakes that even the novice Beach Boy fan would catch. For example by stating that Dennis was not at the "Surfin" sessions. It is well documented that Dennis was there, his voice is obviously on the recording, and he sang a lead line on the B-side "Luau". Webb also states that Dennis sang lead on "Catch A Wave". No. That was Mike Love. Webb states that Brian's song "Lay Down Burden" was on his BW solo LP when in fact it was on his "Imagination" LP. These kind of annoying errors are rampant in this book. It takes away from the believability and enjoyment factor in my opinion.

A Great Book!
I think this book rates really well alongside Jon Stebbin's book on Dennis from last year. There is some overlap, but Webb concentrates more on the music and deflating some myths surrounding the Beach Boys most underrated member. Most people know about Dennis for his rock n roll lifestyle and association with Charles Manson, but few know that he also created an awesome body of music.

Maybe it's a little one-sided but there are some cool interviews with key collaborators and Webb writes strongly with a genuine passion for Dennis Wilson's work. If you're intruiged by what you read here I strongly recommend that you search high and low for a copy of "Pacific Ocean Blue".

A shot in the dark
With high expectations, I purchased this book after reading a great sell-in on the back cover promising a wide range of info from film, filter and processing, to special effects and techniques. With promises of two, "top-notch" photographer's insights into this mytical realm, I took the bait-hook, line and sinker. Pouring over the first few chapters I thought that there was sure o be some major revelation waiting for me, just around the next corner. Unfortunately, it never came.

Targeted to those with extremely little or no photography experience, this book is a treatise in the art of saying nearly nothing with many words. Furthermore, after reading through this book, I can honestly say that I found very little to do with its subject matter. A smattering of dated information, the logistics about where (not how!) to take low-light photos and, quite honestly, an awful lot of rather mediocre examples describes this book that you should remove from your list of "things to read" lest you end up with it in your wood pile.

Tired, boring photo and stories
I don't want to spend more time to write about this book. It's not there's nothing to write to, but I don't want to disappoint the authors of this book. The photo are not only boring, but the stories behind are worse. Not good at all. Do they have "zero" star?

For Beginners Only!
Really, I can't say this book was good or bad, just that it was made for people who have almost no photography experience. Although things like composition are very important, when it comes to night photography, exposure becomes paramount. But this book gives only the most general of advice in that area! It would have been nice if the author would have at least put exposure information next to each picture (exposure, lens, film speed, and other info would have been even better). The book would be better served concentrating less on talking about ideas for nice compositions...let us, the buyers of the book, find our own compositions...let the book tell us how to get the right exposure for the myraid of different night time conditions. The bottom line: This book is a nice "chat" about night photography: don't expect to find any seriously useful tips about the art.

There are some true and false facts in this book.
The auther of this book invetigate only one side of the story. We should keep in mind that always there are good and bad things in any country in this world. I believe the author need to be more objective. For example Saudi Arabia a developed country, therefore, there are large number of expatriate employment. There are more than 4 milion expatriate working in Saudi today, hence, I believe that there will some problems. But I can not say that Saudi citizen treated the expatriate worker as a slave. In the other hand, the author talk about what happend to some of the expatriate worker in Saudi Arabia, but he did not talk about what they did and still doing such as drugs, and crime. Thank you

Basic Electronic Theory Book That Reads Like a Law Book
This book is manual of approximately 350 pages. Written in 1982 and reads like it. This was written for techs but seems aimed at engineers. The material is very hard to follow and very dry reading. It's not at all clear on Network theorem and Laws with some errors. The math examples are very difficult to follow and doesn't explain the process and mostly uses symbols and not actual numbers in the examples. No explainations for how they derived Norton and Thevenin equvalent circuits for FETs and Bipolar transistors. Explaination of load lines and digital sections are good. There are some pictures and charts to go with the paragraphs but the math examples are in need of some work. Recommend getting a good electronic math book as a companion to get by. The math book I used is list in recommendations. I have a good background in electronics and got this book as a review and though there's information to be learned here it's diffcult to understand.

Not An Historical Account of Wurttemberg
This is not the book to read for an historical overview of Wurttemberg. The research is impeccable, however Wilson proves it in excruciating detail using a sloppy vehicle, jumping back and forth between generations, (sometimes by a hundred years or more), to make a point. Unfortunately, the overwhelming number of his points have to do with military expenditures, such as the cost of uniforms, room and board for various regiments of the Wurttemberg armies, etc. His primary aim with this work is to show that the grandiose dynastic ambitions of lesser Dukes, like the Wurttembergers, ran up against a brick wall of the infrastructure of the old German Reich. I kept hoping that the work would be set against a broader backdrop of history, (sadly, there was only one inadequate map of the region, which did not even put Wurttemberg into context within the larger Reich). The discussion of amter, and other geographical divisions, in Wurttemberg could have been more interesting if a list or map of each were included. Wilson presumes that his reader already knows a great deal of the history of Wurttemberg, the Reich and the political environment of the times. To the layman, who is learning much of this upon first reading, the facts are not sewn together neatly. Neither is this a genealogical account of the Dukes of Wurttemberg. Wilson is not using 'family' as the glue to his tale. Very little time is spent on that front. Finally, these Dukes had names that sound so similar, (Wilhelm Ludwig, Eberhard Ludwig, Ludwig Eugen, Friedrich Eugen, etc.) that it would have helped immensely for Wilson to refer to them by nicknames as he did with 'Louis the Turk'. I spent most of my time referring back to the family tree shown on page 14. The author obviously knows his subject. I wish he would revise the work and fill in the larger canvas. I would purchase that new edition!
