Nice book, but the selection of works is limited
This book is a catalogue for an exhibition that was held at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Massachusetts. The reproductions do not represent the full work of Millet but rather the selection of works that was presented in that exhibition. There are many reproductions of drawings, pastels and watercolors, and only a few paintings. Many of the drawings are preparations for larger scale paintings. I bought the book after a visit to the Musee d'Orsay in Paris and was disappointed not to find many paintings that I remember from that visit - not even "The Angelus", which is probably Millet's most famous work. Still there is a large number of beautiful drawings and paintings, and the introductory text is interesting. I wish the reproductions would be larger - there are only about ten full page reproductions throughout the book.

Very pleased with the quality of the book
This is the first quality pyblication I have found on Millet. While I was looking for more of a coffe table type book of his paintings, I was slighlty disappointed that many of his works were not included but the history of his life more than makes up for it.

good history of the flash
this book is a nice adittion to any flash fans collection.it gives a brief background on everything flash.i liked the book but it was short and missing something.i though that having it written from iris person was intresting.the book gave a good history of the flash but could have been longer and gone into a little more detail on some things.

I thought I knew who the Flash was
Being a long standing Superman fan in recent years I branched out into JLA.This got me onto other characters so I decided to branch out...I only ever read the collected or Graphic novel editions so maybe I was missing big chunks of history.I got my Batman,Green Lantern collections up to date.then I thought time to start on Flash. Not cos I like him any less then the others but because he's harder to get hold of in the UK.I Knew Wally West had taken over from Barry Allen from refrences made in other stories etc so I thought..Hey this is a good place to start..Please dont make the same mistake I did.I expected a comic book but instead got a illustrated story book..this is a cash in book and nothing more in my opinion.Spend your money elsewhere. If you want a better read go for something like JLA year one..this is for those who only want to pad out there collection.

know what your buying!
you should always know what your buying. see i thought this was a brand new story with Barry allen in it so i got it right away, but it's a look back at his whole life as told by Iris his wife, and it's a lot of text with a few pictures on each page. BUT i did like it because i did not know a lot about Barry allen since he was long dead by the time i started ot read comic books but i always seen wally west talk about Barry so this was wonderful for fans who want to leanr all kinds of things about his life .

just know what your buying.

i have seen the wind, and it's cold enough for me
this book opens with blackwood's great story: the wendigo. B is the master of the setting, noone can create the background and atmosphere like him. a very well written story from Brennan here. and Meloff's story is also an interesting read. derleth is at his best here. i don''t care that much for the guy, have never considered him to be HPL's great successor or anything, but he knows how to write, and i have always considered his story about Ithaqua to be his best contribution. the rest of the stories are well written. i don't think any of chaosium's anthologies contains of so much good writing than this. but good is not great. and the rest of the stories never turns out to be really good. the suspence killed by irrelevant writing going on for too long, mostly. sad. but the book is still wort reading

Save your money
Ugh. What a turkey. There's nothing worth having here: The rotes are uninteresting and uninspiring, the information on Mage-ly Seattle is silly and unbalanced and that leaves the information on the "signature characters" used in the examples in the rule books. Surely there's a better way to spend your money.
