A gloriously inspiring book!
My wife and I always thought about quitting our jobs and taking off into the wild blue yonder but just never had the courage to actually do it. This book is so inspiring in that there's a couple who not only took themselves on a major journey but took their three-year-old as well. Hats off to them! I loved this book.

The Handbook of Multisource Feedback

One of the best of its kind
If I could have just one recent book on my shelf to use as a reference for leadership development, organizational effectiveness, performance feedback and coaching, this would be the one. Each chapter is authoritatively written in clear, approachable language. Reflected in the chapters is a high level of professional and scientific discipline without a hint of academic arrogance. Unlike many edited books having different authors for each chapter, this book is well structured and integrated so as to be readable either from beginning-to-end (probably the best way) or each chapter standing alone. The chapter authors, each a recogonized expert, obviously paid attention to the others' writings. Each author provides a complementary piece of the puzzle while avoiding repetition. This handbook is an excellent example of how a compendium should be edited, and how a team of authors can blend their efforts on a complex subject.

Factual & down-to earth: excellent reference book
For inventors & innovators, this book contains everything needed to answer detailed preliminary questions on the main aspects of human power and its application on land, air and sea. The only drawback was that the section on flying was a little short and the section on cycling a little long, but the cycling stats fed into the flying machines anyway so no real loss. Plenty of charts, stats, references on air and water resistance, human horsepower, peak performance issues, actual test results. Very impressive collection of information, well worth the price.

William Everson: A Life Trilogy
The Integral Years is the third volume of The Crooked Lines of God: A Life Trilogy, the collected poems of William Everson. Each of the three volumes reflects a major stage in the life of the poet and the thematic nature of his verses. Everson, who was known as "the poet of the San Joaquin," died at his home on Kingfisher Flat in Santa Cruz County, California, in June 1994. He left behind 52 books of poetry and 10 books of prose. He was a member of the Dominican Order of monks between 1951 and 1969, writing poetry and giving public readings of his verse as Brother Antoninus. Time magazine referred to him as the "Beat Friar" during this period, though Everson was not, strictly speaking, a member of the Beat Generation literary movement. According to Stanford's Albert Gelpi, however, Everson was "the greatest religious poet of the second half of the twentieth century." Everson's "A Canticle to the Waterbirds" is a masterpiece of religious verse and puts Everson on a plane with Francis Thompson and Gerard Manley Hopkins. Everson's "religious verse" is published in Volume 2 of the trilogy, The Veritable Years.

Everson's early poetry was highly secular and pantheistic. Much of it was written under the influence of Robinson Jeffers, whom Everson regarded as a mentor. The early poems are contained in Volume 1, The Residual Years.

Everson left religious life in 1969 to return to the secular world and marry Susanna Rickson, his third wife. Everson's later poems, published in this volume, show his maturation as a poet and a man. He has returned to nature, and much of his verse is both confessional and erotic.

The three volumes of the trilogy were actually planned by Everson during his life time and carried through to completion posthumously by the dedicated work of Allan Campo and Bill Hotchkiss, lifelong friends of the poet who edited the collection. They also collected Everson's unpublished verse and uncollected poems, which are published in the volumes as appendixes.

Outstanding read for middle managers
This is a great book for people who've recently been promoted to a middle management position and/or who are struggling to get the most from their team. Unlike most management books, which always seem to be aimed at the CEO, this one targets the 2nd or 3rd level manager, who's trying to motivate a team of 25-60. Although it's based on a pretty simple concept (articulate a clear vision, let employees to share in the mgmt responsibility, and then focus your energies on developing their abilities to do so), it helped me a lot in realizing that by trying to coordinate and stay in control of everything going on in my group, I was actually stifling the creativity and motivation of my employees. By turning over more of the day-to-day responsibility to them, and focusing my energies on the broader vision, we'll all be a lot more successful. This book is loaded with a lot of great examples that helped me see that.

Persuasive details derived from meticulous research
The collaborative effort of David B. Peabody (Nebraska Wesleyan University, Lincoln, Nebraska), Lamar Cope (Carroll College, Waukesha, Wisconsin), and Allan J. McNicol (Austin Graduate School of Theology, Austin, Texas), One Gospel From Two: Mark's Use Of Matthew And Luke offers a dissenting voice from the mainstream claim that Mark was the first Gospel historically written, and that Matthew and Luke borrowed materials for their accounts from Mark, among other sources. Instead, One Gospel From Two claims that the Gospel of Mark was dependent upon those of Matthew and Luke. Iconoclastic and highly recommended reading for students of New Testament Studies, the extensive analysis of literary details, careful annotation, an erudite text, and persuasive details derived from meticulous research, distinguish One Gospel From Two as a carefully conceived and a particularly well-argued New Testament study.

This mongraph is a well organized, well written book that explains the science behind a reasonable lifestyle change that may really improve your health. The suggestions are concrete and liveable. ideal and essential on "New World" spiritism
This book provides a history and insight on the roots of Latin American spiritism. Its research on roots of Allen Kardec and the reason why French spiritism was brought to the "New World". It earns its place in the subjects of Latin American religion and ideology. Its cultural background of Brazil gives much insight to the ideological background of the Brazilian population. Even as a person of Caribbean background, I hold this book in regards to a part of my background ideologically. This book is an eye opener to the researcher interested in South American and Caribbean studies.
